This is one of my favorite game songs, and I love hearing covers/remixes. I'll tell ya though... a lot of people don't understand how important that high note is to the melody. The amount of remixes that lose it in the mix, don't sustain it, or just pick an instrument that decays too fast. When I heard your solo guitar tone (relatively clean) I thought you too were going to fail me in that regard, but no... you put some thought into your mix and had your priorities where they should be. Good on ya' I personally would've just gone full hog dirty for the whole melody, but I like the mix you got in there at 2:34. Anyway... my old band director used to say, "Know the notes that butter your toast" Basically, in every song and every solo, there's 5-10 notes that the judges are REALLY going to get the attention of the judges. Long notes, high notes, complex harmonies, etc... and we would spend INORDINATE amounts of time getting those notes just right. The payoff at 2:34 kinda took me back to jazz band there for a second. Kudos on that :D
You and GuitarGeek both returning with Sonic covers is honestly the best thing I could ask for. I’ve really been digging through a lot of Sonic OSTs and most of them are incredible! Amazing cover!
