Storytime: I used to play skylanders a bunch with my neighbor, and we'd always just use the dragon characters. One day, one of Whirlwind's wings broke off so we started calling her One Wing. One time a different friend of mine came over and I introduced him to One Wing before playing the game. I then jokingly put her broken wing on the portal saying 'just in case she needs it.' We both joked that the wing would appear beside the game avatar on the ground, and then my friend said 'What if some sicko cut up their Skylanders and glued them together in an unholy abomination and it actually showed up onscreen?' Well, a couple years later and Activision actually did that. They were sickos and cut their skylanders in half in order to allow combos XDDD
you basically summed it up for me man Spyro isn't being milked by Skylanders he's just IN skylanders the skylanders games themselves are their own thing, not associated with spyro at all, and even then, the developers give him respect by not making him more important than any other skylander, if they did then all skylanders games would be about skylanders, making all the extra toys just filler but no, Spyro's just playable in Skylanders, that's all that needs to be said thank you

I have a pretty contriversal opinion about skylanders i guess. I LIKE the skylander universe, I LIKE the story, i LIKE the mechanics, but i dont see why it had to be spyro. The game never had anything to do with spyro. The way i see it spyro was just a marketing tool to get people to buy the first game. Me and my older brother fell for it. We begged our parents to buy it when it first came out, because we thought it would be the next spyro game. We played through the game, got dissapointed spyro wasnt really in it other than as a character, but we did get the next few games up until trap team, because we legitimately liked skylanders. We got more and more games and more and more figures because the game was fun. We stopped after that since the games were getting repetitive but we still love the game series, we just wish spyro had a legitimate place in skylanders rather than just a ploy to get people excited for the first game then keep buying the rest of em after that..

However, now, I'm willing to admit that I still like everything about it, but the unfair usage of Spyro as a marketing tool still hurts. I know Activision is still in it for the money, but I'm glad they let Toys For Bob make the Reignited Trilogy. It looks like a lot of love and more fair treatment towards Spyro was put into the game.
I think if they made the Skylanders series with Spyro as more of a guest star rather than the main attraction than it wouldn’t be as baldly received, or just removing Spyro all together

You might actually want to play the most recent entry in Skylanders for they finally gave Spyro an in-game role again. Also the Netflix Cartoon was great same with the book series and even the comics.

My first Skylanders game was Trap Team. I always played as Snap Shot, as I loved his character and abilities. Even though I have given up on Skylanders, I still feel connected to Snap Shot. The show, Skylanders Academy, kinda screwed him over with the voice change. Went from a young and energetic Australian crocagator to an old and now retired British crocagator.

For my opinion, I did play the first game, and have 30 guys to show for it, so the "Didn't play, you can't judge" argument can't be used against me. So, I went back and played The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon (that, or A New Beginning. I forgot.) and from then on, I've never been able to dignify playing the skylanders games again, seeing how it was a big cash grab, a waste of time, and the fact that Spyro was never the main character of his series. I love the Spyro we had with The Legend of Spyro and the PS1 games, and all in between (This includes Enter the Dragonfly, though I haven't played the handheld games, A Hero's Tale, or the first one). This'll probably be lost forever in the comments section, but oh well. I got my 10 cents out.

I first saw the game back in 2012 at my next door neighbours house when I was 11. He would be playing Spyros Adventure on his Xbox and I would play with the toys. I remember we did battle mode late into the night at numerous sleepovers at his until Christmas when I got the new Giants game for my Wii. We then went to each others and battled and worked together
Legend of Spyro was a reboot. It's suppose to be different. Legend series also has a lot of callbacks to the original, showing respect for the original series. The only thing Skylanders has in common with the original is the whimsical feeling

I think the thing that triggers me the most about skylanders is how they designed spyro into the worst thing possible. They didn't screw over cynder's appearance so much, so why did they have to make spyro look like he was hit by a truck in the face ? But anyways, watching your review relieved a bit of my anger, because as you said, the game itself doesn't stands as a spyro game at all. About the legend of spyro games, i can't really say much about it besides the fact i really enjoyed dawn of the dragon, the only one i played. And i'm a hardcore classic spyro fan, so that means a lot i guess ? The only things that bothered me about it was sparx talking (huge mistake imo), being annoying and unfunny as fuck. And spyro's body color being a flashy pink instead of his good old regular purple. For the rest, the ambiance, the backgrounds, the gameplay, the music, i think it was overall really great.
I love the skylander games cause it was my first game on the XBox. And I bought most of the games and love to play with the figures themselfs. The games grew on me. Also you forgot that in Swap-Force, Players can finally jump without the jump thingys.
I played Skylanders when the first installment was released and I gave it a chance like I did with the TLOS series a long time ago. I personally liked the TLOS series due to it giving an origin story to Spyro along with a new roster of characters (Cynder is my personal favorite). Though I agree that Skylanders wasn't really a Spyro game I wasn't too upset about that, but with a continuing series that now doesn't really change really pressed my buttons.
I agree with you Peter. out of everyone else who obviously hates it, I really Enjoyed Skylanders. They gave me one of my Favorite video game characters, Bash (a regular Skylander). Not only that, it good enough gameplay, I never cared for the story, but the real focus of the games, was the figures. I could talk about it all day, but you probably dont even care. Oh well. I enjoyed Skylanders, and Bash, so that will suffice for me. Even if it betrayed the Spyro fans.
In the early 2000’s there was a toys to life game called U.B Funkeys. The game was discontinued circa 2008. The game contains a ton of mini games. The figures and the game were made by Mattel.
Despite their admittedly numerous flaws (I mean, Eternal Night is almost unplayable it's so broken XP) I've always been a sucker for the Legend games. The story really dragged me in, and I was willing to play through a lot of junk just to see what would happen next. And of course after playing through it so much to GET that story... the gameplay kiiiinda grew on me XP I do still enjoy popping them back in from time to time. (The 3rd game was actually pretty good gameplay wise, especially compared to the other two :P). I admittedly have never played the original Spyro titles (though I plan to) and have never touched Skylanders cause I like having money in my wallet, but I can respect them for what they are: Well made games. I can't say I would personally enjoy them since, as Arlo says, I really like a lot of substance in my games, usually in the form of a good engaging and immersive story/world. Gameplay alone has just never cut it for me (except in the case of Super Monkey Ball 2 but THAT DOESN'T COUNT...... AND ALSO SMASH *ded*). Glad to hear people have been enjoying Skylanders though, despite it's willingness to blaspheme the name of Spyro ;P (also kitty!)
Skylanders is one of my favorite game one reason is it was how I made my first friend outside of school. I was at my brothers baseball game and I seen that another kid had brought skylander to play with to pass time, so I walked over to him and said: “hey I have sky landers too” and showed him my small collection and he showed me his and we both had a skylander that the other had always wanted and we traded those two skylanders and returned them the next time we saw each other and we quickly became good friends Also what’s the best part of the vid? Gee I don’t know, g I joe.
Mine and my niece’s favorite is Trap Team, she had an XBox herself and we’d play it all night every summer. XD At her old house, she had a big bunk bed, she still has it, and we’d lay on our stomachs, in the pitch dark, midnight and her screeching as they have all these items just flying everywhere; “NO, NOT MY SKYLANDER’S LUNCHBOX! GIVE IT BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!” Nostalgia. :)
I think that it has a lot to do with how you personally play Spyro in Skylanders. In the later Spyro games you're forced to play him as the developers present him, but Skylanders strips all of the playable characters of any personality meaning that you can apply any personality that you want to it. If you imagine Spyro being his playstation self and responding all snarky and energetic to characters then he will be. I'd love for you to give your opinion on Skylanders Academy on Netflix.

For my opinion, I did play the first game, and have 30 guys to show for it, so the "Didn't play, you can't judge" argument can't be used against me. So, I went back and played The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon (that, or A New Beginning. I forgot.) and from then on, I've never been able to dignify playing the skylanders games again, seeing how it was a big cash grab, a waste of time, and the fact that Spyro was never the main character of his series. I love the Spyro we had with The Legend of Spyro and the PS1 games, and all in between (This includes Enter the Dragonfly, though I haven't played the handheld games, A Hero's Tale, or the first one). This'll probably be lost forever in the comments section, but oh well. I got my 10 cents out.
this is my story:
1st game: eternal nightMARE HELLSTORM!!!NEXT!!!
2nd game:Heroes tale somewhat. I payed money bags his 500 gems (and for some weird reason, I always thought he was saying 5 HUNGRY GEMS. #childhoodsomewhat ) then I got stuck in a swamp... HT was too cryptic
3rd game: new beginning. I kinda like it because it was easier than the other stupid crap that happened.
4th game: riptos rage I think: I never REALLY played this before but I remember plopping this into my PS2, watched the first cut scene DWAGIN SHOEHS!!! and then had to sith through a loading screen that either froze up or had to last 9875789864 years!!! ( accurately I think it froze up.)
so to sum it all up, everybody else was swimming in his treasure while I kept walking in his slimy disgusting shit. BYE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I first saw the game back in 2012 at my next door neighbours house when I was 11. He would be playing Spyros Adventure on his Xbox and I would play with the toys. I remember we did battle mode late into the night at numerous sleepovers at his until Christmas when I got the new Giants game for my Wii. We then went to each others and battled and worked together
Legend of Spyro was a reboot. It's suppose to be different. Legend series also has a lot of callbacks to the original, showing respect for the original series. The only thing Skylanders has in common with the original is the whimsical feeling

I think the thing that triggers me the most about skylanders is how they designed spyro into the worst thing possible. They didn't screw over cynder's appearance so much, so why did they have to make spyro look like he was hit by a truck in the face ?
But anyways, watching your review relieved a bit of my anger, because as you said, the game itself doesn't stands as a spyro game at all.
About the legend of spyro games, i can't really say much about it besides the fact i really enjoyed dawn of the dragon, the only one i played. And i'm a hardcore classic spyro fan, so that means a lot i guess ? The only things that bothered me about it was sparx talking (huge mistake imo), being annoying and unfunny as fuck. And spyro's body color being a flashy pink instead of his good old regular purple. For the rest, the ambiance, the backgrounds, the gameplay, the music, i think it was overall really great.

I loved Skylanders when I was younger, Cynder was always my favourite and seeing you play the first one brought back many memories

I love the skylander games cause it was my first game on the XBox. And I bought most of the games and love to play with the figures themselfs. The games grew on me.
Also you forgot that in Swap-Force, Players can finally jump without the jump thingys.

I played Skylanders when the first installment was released and I gave it a chance like I did with the TLOS series a long time ago. I personally liked the TLOS series due to it giving an origin story to Spyro along with a new roster of characters (Cynder is my personal favorite). Though I agree that Skylanders wasn't really a Spyro game I wasn't too upset about that, but with a continuing series that now doesn't really change really pressed my buttons.

I agree with you Peter. out of everyone else who obviously hates it, I really Enjoyed Skylanders. They gave me one of my Favorite video game characters, Bash (a regular Skylander). Not only that, it good enough gameplay, I never cared for the story, but the real focus of the games, was the figures. I could talk about it all day, but you probably dont even care. Oh well. I enjoyed Skylanders, and Bash, so that will suffice for me. Even if it betrayed the Spyro fans.

In the early 2000’s there was a toys to life game called U.B Funkeys. The game was discontinued circa 2008. The game contains a ton of mini games. The figures and the game were made by Mattel.

Despite their admittedly numerous flaws (I mean, Eternal Night is almost unplayable it's so broken XP) I've always been a sucker for the Legend games. The story really dragged me in, and I was willing to play through a lot of junk just to see what would happen next. And of course after playing through it so much to GET that story... the gameplay kiiiinda grew on me XP I do still enjoy popping them back in from time to time. (The 3rd game was actually pretty good gameplay wise, especially compared to the other two :P).
I admittedly have never played the original Spyro titles (though I plan to) and have never touched Skylanders cause I like having money in my wallet, but I can respect them for what they are: Well made games. I can't say I would personally enjoy them since, as Arlo says, I really like a lot of substance in my games, usually in the form of a good engaging and immersive story/world. Gameplay alone has just never cut it for me (except in the case of Super Monkey Ball 2 but THAT DOESN'T COUNT...... AND ALSO SMASH *ded*).
Glad to hear people have been enjoying Skylanders though, despite it's willingness to blaspheme the name of Spyro ;P

Skylanders is one of my favorite game one reason is it was how I made my first friend outside of school. I was at my brothers baseball game and I seen that another kid had brought skylander to play with to pass time, so I walked over to him and said: “hey I have sky landers too” and showed him my small collection and he showed me his and we both had a skylander that the other had always wanted and we traded those two skylanders and returned them the next time we saw each other and we quickly became good friends

Mine and my niece’s favorite is Trap Team, she had an XBox herself and we’d play it all night every summer. XD At her old house, she had a big bunk bed, she still has it, and we’d lay on our stomachs, in the pitch dark, midnight and her screeching as they have all these items just flying everywhere; “NO, NOT MY SKYLANDER’S LUNCHBOX! GIVE IT BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!”

I think that it has a lot to do with how you personally play Spyro in Skylanders. In the later Spyro games you're forced to play him as the developers present him, but Skylanders strips all of the playable characters of any personality meaning that you can apply any personality that you want to it. If you imagine Spyro being his playstation self and responding all snarky and energetic to characters then he will be. I'd love for you to give your opinion on Skylanders Academy on Netflix.
The best Skylander Academy is no Spyro, Cynder and Malefore as well. Then reject villain for Kaos, It just waste time plot story. LIKE IMMATURE STORY!
