    Really surprising that they don't let you monetize the pies more effectively.
    Appreciate all the work you've done to make the pie and keep it maintained.

    I like Trading 212 pies, but I agree there is much room for improvement - the pie within a pie feature is something I requested on the forum from day one, I don’t think it’s going to happen any time soon. With regards to users and accusations etc…it’s one of the reasons why I never share anything I do financially, whether that be investing, trading, or anything else financially. There will always be someone who’s ready to blame you for their misfortune or lack of success in the market. I really do admire people who share their stuff with others, for me I just don’t need, or want, the hassle that comes with that.

    I use pies as a tool to group my stocks by sector or geographic locations. I manually import my buys into them as I try to buy when I feel the value is right for me. I wouldn’t like to buy randomly as you mentioned you wouldn’t not be getting optimal prices.

    You focus a lot on the sharing/social aspect of Pie which i personally dont care about. I created my own Pies from the start. The features i am missing are:
    - possibility to autmatically rebalance with new investments only and not by selling/buying pieces which trigger taxes: % are modified temporarily when the weights of the stocks have diverged above a certains threshold from the targeted % (now you have to do it yourself and monitor)
    - possibility to set to 0% some stocks within the pie if one want to temporarily stop investing in some (now limited to 1%)
    - pie within pie indeed would be nice feature
    Oh and you simply discovered human nature with this Pie sharing ;) Absolutely not surprised about the entitle behaviour you ve noticed

    If i didnt change my investment strategy to only etfs, your pie would be the only one i would be investing my cash, very organized and easy to follow, the faq helps a lot and people need to start looking at ex dividends and etc because that only answers many of the questions of why they havent received a dividend yet.
    keep up the good work :D

    I was new to stocks and shares, didn't have a clue what I was doing on t212, so looked in the pie section. I copied yours based on the dividends and number of others copying. It's done well.
    I'm now reading about whether I should keep applying updates. I did it to one pie and lost shares that seemed to be doing well and it lowered the dividends.
    I think beginners get confused with long term growth and dividends.

    Agreed with all your points, personally I found it quite frustrating to edit pies, for example trying to sell of one particular under performing stock from a pie, I ended up cashing in the entire pie and just buying stocks I wanted manually for greater control and visibility. And yeah echoing other comments here, you're pretty much the only person to actively use the feature, appreciate you maintaining your pie and giving your feedback. Trading212 owe you in my humble opinion.

      I think that there are some well thought out pies that people have put a lot of effort into it but we just will never be able to see them as they are unreachably low on the leaderboard just because they haven't been there for years

    I like the pie concept, but it really needs better features for managing it. I wish you could set absolute values per investment instead of % e.g I want to invest a max of £5k in one stock / etf then when I put more money into the pie, I would like it to go to other stocks instead. I know you can do this kind of manually via the custom feature but it feels clunky

  • @brightieboy9228

    It annoys me that the only way to auto invest is with a pie. Meaning I have a pie with a single ETF in in, just to allow me to use the Auroinvest function!

    Welcome Back Chris, I’m relatively new to investing although picking up knowledge here & there from TH-cam Etc. I feel relatively comfortable investing in the pie whilst it’s under your stewardship.. What would your advice be for a novice if you were to stop monitoring it?

    • @TheDividendExperiment
      @TheDividendExperiment  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Difficult to go into too much detail here but in essence:
      -Make sure you know what your strategy is, and that it suits your goals
      -Don't panic when things are looking rough on the +/- and stick to your strategy
      I am actually working on a course that will hopefully be out later this year that you would most likely be interested in!

    I love your ADD pie. It's fun, all of us at work "play" it together and constantly up each other's contributions just because it's fun to compare 17p dividend over 15p. It's great banter. Honestly though do you recommend the ADD as a pie that can make you financially comfier later down the road? Or would you need 500k in it for it to work well?

    • @TheDividendExperiment

      Haha sorry I come off that way, that’s just my normal voice 😂😂. I chose the stocks mainly because of the payment dates but also opted for quality as much as possible. It might not be the perfect optimised portfolio but if you are enjoying the regular income it will be worth sticking with it as the payments grow.
      “The best investment strategy is the one that you will actually follow”

    I have never seen the benefit of following a pie. I do however get good ideas from people who clearly are more talented and knowledgable than me. I would like more flexibility in Pie management but my 3 Pies are all focussed on dividends, I struggle with low value so I limit the number of stocks I have so i can buy more shares and get chunkier dividends. That has its issues with a slightly riskier portfolio and monthly variant in div value, but on the whole I am happy getting around 8.2% and if lucky enough the share value can keep positive over time. I also constnantly look, to review, take profit on low div yield shares and reinvest on higher ones. I also track the history of paying divs to bring balance to the risk.

  • @DaveTingerz
    @DaveTingerz ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Well said - quite simply, there is nothing that the pies do, that a half decent excel sheet can't do better, sadly.
    At one point in time, I resorted to making a pie for each sector I wanted, and labelled them as something like "16% REITS" and "20% ETFs", having the sum of all pies %'s = 100%, but that became tiresome.
    So now I just have my list of companies/ETF's in Excel, and buy/sell generally..... shame really, the pies feature could have been something so good, instead it did a classic Clarkson Top Gear moment; "Ambitious but rubbish"
