The whole movie is about trapping his soul, whatever K went through, was actually his soul (aatma) that was experiencing all those events. The movie we t back and forth between his physical self and astrophysical self(Aatma) what each was experiencing. In the end they trapped his soul, if he would have paid ₹1 (actual) fees, his soul wouldn’t have burned in the pit of fire.
And yes in the end he quit smoking. The process to make him quit smoking was going on in two realms physical and spiritual. In physical, he lost his fingers, which he used to smoke and in spiritual he went through all those things like his brother and wife dying.
Matrix Interstellar Inception Shutter Island Vanilla Sky And now this masterpiece Eye opening and building faith in God. the siberia scene: at the start, the siberia scene signifies that K is forcefully taken in and they won’t let him have a smoke. he thinks that he is oppressed not to be allowed to smoke as he wants. he sees the effect of smoking in his and everyone else’s families in the hospital. these makes way to the hallucination. his brother being kept in the smoke for 5 minutes is nothing but his guilt that he has contribution for his brother’s loss of one lung. the girl forbidding him from smoking is another hallucination which triggers from where he sees the girl in the hospital. baba is actually his counselor. k’s subconscious portraits him as evil and oppressing in his delusions making way for the underground oppressing prayogshala sequences the bathing scene in the underground is k’s insecurity that he might loose what he is in the process of rehabilitating. it can also be the guilt of the suffering he is inflicting upon himself and his family due to his smoking. so he thinks his soul is doomed. the one rupee signifies the small duties and responsibilities which he ignored and he sees that his soul is suffering for it. the last siberia scene is where k liberates himself from the packet of cigarette (signifying smoking) and goes for the tub. he prefers to quit smoking finally and end the delusional rehabilitation process. so he dives in the tub to wake up. in the last scene, where he discovers his two smoking fingers are cut off,this signifies that he has got over smoking finally.
Ye movie horror mystery hai. No one can just understand through the story. The story cN be defined or tried to explain through it's theme. It's such an amazing movie. I must say. For the first time in my 40 years I am ever scared by a horror movie. 😢
