I remember when the first 4 albums came out on CD. George Harrison said something like. I'm not impressed because it's all about how good the actual recording was. This proves that. EVEN... as an MP3 here it sounds like I remember my Mono LP. All those weird, slightly off backing vocals on "Anna" are pure bliss to me. The non-perfect things in Beatles music make me feel like I'm involved in the recording. It's just 1 of the things that make these guys so unique! I am very thankful to hear this!

I'm not surprised this is a mono pressing, as the earliest pressings of this album are seriously rare in stereo. I will say that it could be my speaker placement or some slight flaw in the upload, but it does sound a little more bass heavy on the left channel. In true mono, the audio in both channels (speakers) should be identical. When listening to a true stereo copy of the album (a 1970's Parlophone will do nicely), the 2 tack stereo presentation is very stark, with many of the tracks having all the vocals on one channel, with the instrumentation almost entirely (except for a bit of microphone leakage) on the the other. Even though George Martin was NOT in favour of this sort of stereo presentation, I still find it to be a very exciting listen.

No remastering required for this 1st pressing..sounds absolutely brilliant..you can hear everything...nothing buried un the mix.😊
