This is how good the writers were. Smithers said every Friday evenings, Mr. Burns went for treatment. Incidently the X files used to come on every Friday at 8.
Note how when the "alien" speaks while glowing all green, his voice sounds like Scratchy the Cat. But then at 1:24 when we see it's only Mr. Burns, his voice starts to sound more like Mr. Burns again (though it could be justified in that the effects of the Friday night operation were starting to wear off.) And yes, I know Harry Shearer voices both Mr. Burns and Scratchy. Also when he's all green his nose is like a small stub, and then once he's revealed, his nose grows back into its' usual long pointy shape.
"Let's get out of here - this is the worst case we've ever worked on." "What about the time we got attacked by the flesh-eating virus?" "No, this is way more irritating."
My flight or fight response is still immediate when watching this. Absolutely terrified me as a kid, even as a huge horror fan now this still kinda creeps me out
It's the truth, too. Had a kidney stone, once, that got lodged in my ureter. 10/10 pain for FIVE straight hours. After they got my insurance (THANKS U.S. MEDICAL SYSTEM) they gave me a fentanyl-based painkiller. Dude....I made that noise because 10/10 pain became 0/10 pain in less than five seconds. Was in blissful heaven!
What a great episode and genius idea to merge with X-Files themes... back when the Simpsons were great and not the useless and meaningless joke it has become in the past 10 years!
You’re wrong, there have been many great episodes this past decade! What is this sick obsession with loving the first 10 seasons but then hating the rest. It’s so asinine.

I know; ever since I first saw this episode as a kid back in the 90’s, every time I hear ‘Good Morning Starshine’, I have to sing it like Mr Burns- including his fantastic elongated “Helloooooo” haha. Loads of references from The Simpson’s have stuck with me like that, and I find myself quoting from the show on a regular basis; the problem is, because most people haven’t been as obsessed with the show as I am/was (particularly the first 15 or so seasons), when I quote from it, I usually end up having to explain my reference. So it’s nice to read the comment section, on TH-cam videos; it proves I’m not the only one who can quote odd, or obscure jokes from the show…makes me feel less of a weirdo; or, at the very least, in good weird company haha.
Their reaction to bringing them love "Don't let it get away. Break its legs" is what makes this clip. That and Willie's citing the mod into killing Burns! XD
