Sorry for your loss, Katie. Sweet pictures of your father ❤ My dad has dementia, not Alzheimer’s, but I’m glad there might be hope for others in the future ❤
My heart goes out to all who know this terrible disease. Katie, I'm so sorry for your loss: my mom left a year ago at 89 from Lewy body dementia. This is a promising progress in treatment! I have a neighbor who will be thrilled if he can slow the progression of alzheimers. That aside, I have to comment how absolutely gorgeous your necklace is.
Lucky she got 89 years, can't complain about that. My grandma got to 90. But my mom only made it to 68. So invert that to 89 and you got an extra 20 years with your mom than I did..
Unfortunately, what can be a welcomed hope to slow down a devastating disease for millions, becomes political slam from the comments I see on here. Being a person who have (& had) family members, along with friends lives destroyed by this disease I look forward to a possible positive outcome.

I tend to report the bot accounts under the misinformation category and move on, as one can waste a lot of mental and emotional energy endeavouring to reason with what is essentially a machine whose sole purpose is to create political unrest - it cannot be reasoned with. I wish this drug were effective, as both of my parents died of Altzheimers. But, this MAb (monoclonal antibody) against beta amyloid, has been shown to produce no appreciable difference in cognitive function, in several previous trials. I find it somewhat suspicious, that a study, sponsored by the drug manufacturer, has different results, from previous studies, of the same MAb. It is a very expensive drug, and I find it beyond coincidental, that as soon as Medicare says it will cover the cost of anti-beta-amyloid treatment, this drug company shows results, that are the opposite of all previous results. Also, there are studies showing beta-amyloid is involved in the repair of neural damage, which might be why it is seen, in a large number of plaques, in those with damaged brains. There have been brains, of people who died of dementia, that showed no plaque formation, upon autopsy. And there are people, who seem to have plaques, when CT scans are examined, with no cognitive decline. Beta-amyloid has not be proven to cause dementia.
Very pertinent information, I've been following this too. I was thankful they discussed the fraudulent studies from the past. I hope this isn't a repeat of that situation.
You're right Deborah. Big pharma is corrupt. After the genome was mapped and the ATP7B copper binding gene was identified, free copper was discovered. 2 research scientists tested the blood of Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, Tourette's, schizophrenia and ALS patients and found they all had elevated levels of toxic unbound copper. They applied for a usage patent with the FDA to treat and reverse these conditions with ammonium tetrathiomolybdate (TM), which lowers free copper. Since it's molybdenum and sulfur, TM is not patentable , which is why they applied for a usage patent since they discovered it was causing these conditions. The FDA never approved their application. It's a crooked system where big pharma owns the FDA and they cover up cures, because they are making billions treating the symptoms. Millions of people have this ATP7B copper binding gene defect and most of the mutations are only partial gene knockouts where the body can still bind some copper, which causes a gradual buildup over a lifetime. Most live a relatively normal life while the free copper gradually builds, but when they get older their blood brain barrier starts to deteriorate and becomes permeable, which allows the toxic free copper to enter their brain and cause these dementia diseases. In Tourette's or schizophrenia, the person is born with a defective BBB. Copper in bound form is non toxic, but the unbound or free copper is toxic like a heavy metal. It is also highly conductive to electricity and short circuits the brain which is an electrochemical organ. If you have a loved one with Alzheimer's or one the other conditions, your best bet is to have their free copper tested and get them rediagnosed with neurological Wilson's disease. The free copper test code at the Lab corp labs in Oklahoma is 279071, but the # may differ in your state. Normal free coper should be 1-10 mcg/dl. TM can be compounded by a compounding pharmacist and has been approved for Wilson's treatment. You can also use high dose zinc, but it takes 1 to 2 years of taking 150 mg of zinc daily to bring the free copper to a non toxic level. TM can bring the free copper to a non toxic level in 2 weeks and bring it to normal in 8 weeks.
Katie, I too, am the daughter of parents whom died from Alzheimer's Dementia (my father also had LBD), and I know the kind of loss that entails. You have my sympathy for your loss. I'm disappointed in this article/ad/video because when you asked Dr. Azar why we should be cautiously optimistic about this drug, she didn't even mention side effects. With this drug, which belongs to the same class of drugs as aducanumab, which she alluded to, there is a considerable risk of brain bleed. I, for one, don't see these drugs as worth the risk, because even a 25% improvement in the advance of a disease which is 100% fatal, isn't a trade off I would ever have chosen for my parents, at considerable risk of a brain bleed. IMO, the FDA has made a terrible mistake approving aducanumab, putting some of the most vulnerable people at unnecessary risk, for an unknown longer term result. Further, if this was a promotional video, which doesn't have to be clearly disclosed to the viewing public, I ask you to reconsider how you are using your influence, and whether you want to be responsible for sharing only the potentially positive information with a personal, sentimental and not lightly implied endorsement, in the absence of accuracy. I believe you see yourself as a journalist?
