I wabt them to keep him in the shadows after 6 and be pick up a normal job supporting the orphanage in the shadows then something really worst is gonna happen after like yakuza 9 or Yakuza X (10). Like the new generation yakuza villains in the future installment invovles Kiryu's family. Then everyone goes 'if only he was alive... what would Kiryu-san do' All the new characters in franchise would have only heard of him in stories but not seen him in combat and knows his dead... (obviously not because he faked it) He appears as an extra playable character to help like Yakuza 4. and eveeyone would be in shock that he is alive. For me as a loyal yakuza fan it'd be a great hype after long years to see him back in action after spending so many years in hiding away from the orphanage, Tojo and the entire yakuza world. Playing as Kiryu once again would be awesome . I wish for him to make a return in the the next 3 years (realtime) or so with white hair or white side hair and added wrinkles but still in shape and the tattoo a bit faded haha! And for the bad guys to be reminded... not to mess with his family. To be reminded not to rattle the cage in where the Dragon sleeps.

@@NoahHalfSquid buddy, the game series is literally becoming a clown with all these stereotypical story drama cliches. Kiryu having cancer? Ichiban relegated to Side Character status, IN HIS SECOND GAME? VTuber leaking information? Kiryu dying for what feels like the BILLIONTH TIME!!? And the most epic clown move for Kiryu, revealing his real name and blowing his cover to the doctor, instead of telling him his fake name to protect him. The series is literally turning into the Japanese equivalent of Coronation Street, EastEnders, Days of Our Lives, Neighbours, Home And Away, and even the most infamous show of all, It Never Ends (As seen in an episode of The Simpsons). The fact that it is also going to never return to it's action combat gameplay shows how far they want to overshadow their business competitor, Square-Enix, by turning Ryu Ga Gotoku into a Final Fantasy game franchise that is trying to overshadow Final Fantasy VII Remake, and Rebirth. Turning the series into something it's not, just to compete against a franchise and game company that has reinvented their idea of turn-based combat and have mastered action combat gameplay, is what I call, a clown move. Or a fool's errand. But still, it's like Sega never learns, especially after Sonic.

Why is everyone complaining about this guy...? I think he looks fucking awesome.
Charmely Eenig Yeah, he looks cool.
Charmely Eenig he looks like a alcoólic goofball with terrible fashion style
I disagree but I respect your opinion. And..if you didn't notice, his suit is exactly the same like Kiryu's. But instead of grey and red, it's red and grey. And besides..are we playing Yakuza for the looks or for the story? If we're really going to be judging by looks then I say Shinada looks pretty bad too, at least this guy has a nice suit? While I respect your opinion, are you perhaps mad or annoyed that we aren't going to be playing as Kiryu anymore?
Charmely Eenig well as long as his story is good I don't mind and yes shinada looked pretty bad but he had a awersome personality in general so
That's true but ehh..tbh. I don't really care about looks. Like you said, as long as his story is good, looks don't matter.
Looking back at some of these comments is crazy. I love Ichiban as a protag now and this was the perfect trailer to introduce him.
its a new game, they showed some story on the official ryu ga gotoku channel, this new guy is called "Ichiban" ("number one" like "the best") and is the son of a prostitutr with a unknown father. I couldnt read the other parts so sorry...
Alecs251 He literally says his name on this vid lol
Yeah, but there's still some people asking in the comments, and not everyone understands what theyre saying
The full name is "Kasuga Ichiban"
Thanks for the info. Hey, can you by any chance, translate what was said in the trailer?
2swag4u 2cool4u not enough
Missing Kiryu already...
pablo sanchez I feel you man...
Don't worry. He is going to be there... From the shadows and show up when you least expect it.
レオンLeon would not be the same feeling like you play as him...hiks...hiks...hiks...
Me to
kiryu is not dead, at the end of yakuza 6 he says make me fake death certificate
0:33 is that Toshiro Nagoshi ?
Man, I really digged how Ichiban looked here. His hair too. It's more reigned in than his hairstyle in Y7, in terms of volume. It looks more like an actual stylized choice rather than a messed up perm job. Even before the whole Dragon Quest schtick about him came to be, there's something really enjoyable about him that I can't exactly find words for now.
I'm only just now noticing(after 3 years) the amazing facelift that Ichiban got during this trailer.
After 70 hours into Like a Dragon, I can confirm that Ichiban is the greatest RPG character ever! I mean that as a hardcore RPG fan. He's idealistic, lovable and most importantly, badass (unrelenting when needed).
He is the cliche shonen manga/ anime protagonist dude lol, I love yakuza a lot but don’t lie, they are a lot better protagonist out there
Is incompetence lovable to you?
Yoo dude they really did a neat upgrade on Ichiban design
I really like the fact that Ichiban's suit is Kiryu's suit but the colors are invverted.
This version of Ichiban actually does look like he served 18 years in the joint.
And that's how two legends meet each other.
I'll be looking forward to what this character brings to the series!
Now what u say about ichi ?
@@-K13 omg i was scrolling around and saw this comment this is my new acc btw. ichiban is a great character he has a childish soul. and so naive i think he is the best jrpg character i have ever seen.

the fact i understood their conversation brings me joy.

I loved Kiryu from Yakuza 0 to 6. So seeing him rest not being a protagonist would be great. (obviously not because he faked it)
He appears as an extra playable character to help like Yakuza 4. and eveeyone would be in shock that
he is alive.
I just love this idea
I read that as "(obviously not because he freaked it)" 😳
So is this Yakuza 7? I like the new hero. I'm sure people will grow to like him. Hopefully it comes west. :(
Cielle it will in like 10 years or something XD
ios android game online I believe
Nah they said Ichiban will be in the phone game and also his own console game too. It takes place after Yakuza 6.
Cielle
It will come just 1.5 years after the release in Japan. They rework every line to make it compatible with English. We still get Yakuza 6 in March so I'm satisfied with the rate they provide content.
Cielle i agree with you, when people are too late to understand kiryu's story this is where the new story begins! You said that hopefully it come to the west? Yes! It's a must!!
getting this recommended after 3 years
imagine
Ichiban looks fun. :) Personality wise he seems like a nice guy. I'm interested to see where they go with him.
I’m honestly pretty glad they didn’t go with that design, I like Ichibans goofy but badass design a lot more just fits the tone better
God, beta Ichiban actually looks like he was in jail for 18 years
All that crack must have messed him up
Just realised after playing all the main yakuza games I could basically understand everything they said without subtitles💀
Damn and current Ichiban thought his punch perm looked bad.
Ohhh I am gonna miss kiryu 😭😭😭😭
narasimha hm me too
narasimha hm same 😥
holy fuck that's nishiki voice? is he related to him? or his son?!
He does look a but like him.
Kako Mohammed this new guy isn't related to nishiki
Yup, same voice actor.
Jorge Man z well that sucks guess my dream of nishiki son being trained by an old kiryu
Maybe in the sequels.
I've never played Yakuza, but I've been interested. I will definitely pick this up in the future. This guy looks pretty cool.
Kiryu: Jotaro
Ichiban: Joseph
After trailer Kiryu turned to kenshiro.
Now THIS guy looks like a Ichy Balls Kasuga
What's Tony Montana doing in Japan?
He looks more like Jimmy from Hardcore Henry in my opinion.
I SCREAMED LMAO
@Mr. No_Name 893 I mean, you weren’t wrong
fortunately he put down the crack in time for his debut
Thank fuck they changed his design
You know what, I wish they bring back this scrapped version of Ichiban and make it a side quest as him an impostor like a callback for Kiryu back in Yakuza 2/Kiwami 2
I just realized how old does ichiban looks
I'm going to miss the Kiryu-Majima bromance.
Years later after it's release, Ichiban looks more younger than the teaser. Also lol... So many hate on Ichiban before his game release.
He reminds me of that guy in the red suit from Yakuza 0. I forgot his name but Majima fights him twice and he uses a knive.
You mean Nishitani
EditsOfAwesomeness Yeah him
I want Majima as the new protagonist 😕
TheNameIsMKS he gonna be there
That would be so much fun.
TheNameIsMKS would be fun but the main reason Kiryu isn't is because Kiryu is getting old, and well Majima isn't getting any younger...
he said it himself in Yakuza 5 that his eye sight is going bad because he's getting older.
Maybe the new guy will end up going through a painful journey and turn out more like Majima then Kiryu.
Old characters are returning for the code-named "Shin" project so if you miss majima don't worry he'll be there
I'm here because of 29th August. Only 4 days left, can't wait.
Kiryu's POV: "I'm Ichiban!"

Bring Tatsuya back to the series, he's forgotten on the PSP
I really appreciate the subtitles.
Can someone translate what kiryu and ichiban are saying
Jorge Man z pretty much
I "are you okay?"
K "Yeah thanks"
I "Wait, are you THE Kiryu"
K "yeah, what's your name"
I "I'm Ichiban!"
xAssassin24 thank you
Thanks!
You know that you've played quite a bit of Yakuza when you can actually understand what Kiryu and Ichiban are talking.
Kiryu will never be replaced in my heart. On the other hand, I hope the new main character doesn't suck ass.
Imo i like him
This design looks like microwaved Ichiban leftovers
Then seconds later, Kiryu turns into Kenshiro
I get a feeling that he will become one of the best characters in a game, I also think that the game play will change, can't wait for this one
I like checking out the old comments to see everyone doubting on Ichiban, until now after finally getting to play the game.
I wasn't doubting when he was teased here. I started doubting once I actually played the game.
@@JayAreAitch that's dumb
@@amitojsingh7583 Did you like your own comment 🤨
And nah Ichiban stinks as a person and as a protagonist
@@JayAreAitch say what you will but he's miles better than kiryu 🤡
@@NoahHalfSquid He really isn't. Kiryu is pretty simple, being an archetypal male hero, but that works fine in a story whose main overarching theme is paternity. Ichiban is actively irritating. In 7, he acts like he has an actual developmental disorder, and it's meant to be endearing.
He really is just a foil to Kiryu in every way. Even his outfit is basically Kiryu's just with the colors reversed.
I honestly think that’s how he should look after a couple of the games. It looks like he’s in his 50’s. Perfect for Yakuza 9 or 10.
early ichiban looks like one of his eyebrow muscles stopped working
fala direito porra
Kasuga would then go onto getting $3million worth of plastic surgery before the release of Y7.
You know why Kiryu asked for his name? Cus he's waiting for Ichiban to say he's Nishiki with a different hairdo
don't hurt me like this man

Ichiban looking like 1970's Pacino days after Serpico went big on the movies.
The only reason why the thug lost is just that it wasn't his turn. It was Ichiban's turn to attack
