    Some updates:
    #1 Dashlane is depreciating the Desktop app, and moving everything to the browser,
    #2 Password Sharing: Dashlane has two types of Share: Limited & Full access, (I found out the "hard" way), Limited access, is a 1-off sync - ie. If you share a password as Limited access, and then change the password for a 2nd time, the 2nd updated password won't sync to the Recipient
    Likewise, if the Recipient changes the password on the webstite, their Dashlane will save the new password, but it won't sync back to Me (the Family Manager), The only way to have 2-way password (auto)-syncing, is to share with Full Access
    #3 Syncing Dashlane items is now turned-on by default, so no need to do Manual Syncs

    Only have used Dashlane for 7 days and it has frozen up 3 times!. Just the dumb circle going round and not allowing me to shut the internet site or go back in the Dashlane browser app (MS EDGE) to start over. If this occurs again I will stop using the software altogether. So many sites now offering 2-3 step VERIFICATION or authenticator (Google or Microsoft) a PASSWORD MANAGER MAY NOT BE NEEDED! Thanks for your overview.

    Hi Josh! Thank you for this information. You mentioned at the end that you would never 100% trust one piece of software for your security, which is what has been keeping me from getting a password manager, but now I realize how essential it is to have one.
    I plan on getting a password manager now, but since you said though that you wouldn't 100% trust one piece of software, what is your security hygene protocol? What are the products and practices on top of a password manager that you would recommend everyone to get? (maybe you even have a video on this already! But I couldn't find it if there is.)

How do I get my passwords back to my local control if I leave Dashlane? Same question for the other account holders if I subscribe to a Family Plan? This problem has totally stopped me from moving forward with Dashlane or any other Password Manager. Any insight appreciated!

    Hi there,
    Your video helps me to decide what Password manager I should use. But I have one additional question. Can I store documents/files with each item that is created within Dashlane like it is possible in 1Password? (Things like a License document of my installed software or a payment receipt)

    • @AllThingsSecured
      @AllThingsSecured  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great question! Since I never use that feature on 1Password, I wasn't looking for it in Dashlane. Unfortunately, Dashlane doesn't seem to give you the option to attach a file to a login, although it is possible to create a note with each login. Does that help?

    • @AllThingsSecured
      @AllThingsSecured  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dashlane doesn't care which internet browser you use. It's only a means of storing your passwords. So it will store your Yahoo email password as well as your two other email address passwords that you can retrieve whether you're on Safari or Chrome.

    Dashlane allows you to use the state-of-the-art Argon2 as its key derivation function. I noticed that your account uses the older PBKDF2 KDF by default. This option should be listed under advanced settings under the security tab. How do you change it to Argon2?

    • @AllThingsSecured
      @AllThingsSecured  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not quite. It is stored locally on your device, so you will still have access while offline. The only time this isn’t the case is if you have new documents that haven’t synced yet or if you’re setting up a new device. The file in the cloud is used as a backup and a sync.

    I was looking for a password manager with that, or something to let me add multiple field on the website login.

    • @AllThingsSecured
      @AllThingsSecured  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Bryant, some password manager apps such as Dashlane and 1Password use machine learning to figure out where to autofill certain fields. If you find one that you use often and it doesn't autofill correctly, you can send that to their customer support and they generally are quick to make changes to get it right.
