I noticed some overdubbed audio. Works for me. I don’t think all your narration has to be done ‘on the bike.’ The video ended a bit abruptly. I guess it was a tease for your next video?
Honestly, I couldn't tell. I thought it was all your audio was recorded live during your ride. Good job! Your reaction (acting) made me feel how you felt during your ride out here in California. Awesome! This was a great video.
Basic Lanesplitting rules: 1. Only split between the 1 and 2 lane (far left) 2. Don't split if traffic is moving above 40mph 3. Don't go more than 10mph faster than surrounding traffic 4. Cover your front brake with two fingers, and be extra aware of "gaps" when cars will move over quickly Otherwise, as someone who's been riding in CA for 13 years, lanesplitting is the only way to get around
5. Ride a bike that has fast steering geometry. 6. Prepare for how they will not see you and if they do see you in the side mirror, they will unintentionally drift toward that side (like target fixation), closing up the gap you are in.
We literally have those exact rules here in the Netherlands except it's km/h and not mp/h lol. So you can't lane split if traffic is going over 40 km/h and you can't go faster than 10 km/h faster than the traffic you pass. And you have to lane split between lanes 1 and 2. Those are literally the rules, that's funny

Europeans watch Americans freaking out over lane splitting with puzzled astonishment. Over hear it is as common as walking. It’s a part of riding a bike from the very first day. Here in UK everyone does it all the time.
Yes we all do it here in uk. but rather than give you space assholes in tin boxs will close gap. you really need to be aware when doing so here. people do give you space but suspect most are riders when not driving.
To me it’s obvious we don’t just need a better riding/training program but we need more incentives for motorcyclists. The small amount of filtering and lane splitting I’ve seen has me 100% convinced on its merits.
same here ... in paris you would not even calling it lane spliting , there is so much space between the cars .. I am sure we would have 2 lines of bikes. I have to say I am also really surprised by the amount of comment of people freaking out.
I live and ride in CA. Nothing cooler then when the cars move over for you and see the sea of traffic splitting for you to slip by. I loved hearing your reactions while you ride....you're adorable.
Loved seeing you riding with people you've introduced us to in the past, especially Dan. Because of your previous mention of him, we checked out his channel and loved it as well. You did a great job showing both the mechanics and the emotional energy necessary for lane-splitting. Thanks for being authentic and courageous! Can't wait to see the next video
I just LOVE they way you present on your videos! It’s like you bring each subscriber with you on an exclusive adventure. As a new rider, I am getting a sense of good rider culture even though I don’t ride with anyone. I learn through each one of your videos.
I'm a returning UK biker having ridden small bikes in my teens until I got a car, and am now (at 50 years young) three years into my second riding career on my first "big" bike. I was very nervous about filtering until I went out on a ride with a couple of my trusted friends (sensible riders) and followed what they were doing. Now I do it all the time and absolutely love it. I tend to only do it if the traffic is stopped or going below approximately 20mph, and I'll only pass vehicles at a speed difference of around 10mph maximum - I feel safe enough doing that and also feel that I'm going slow enough that I SHOULD be able to react to anything unexpected from the vehicles I'm passing. In the UK lane splitting/filtering is legal and our Highway Code instruct other road users to be aware of motorcyclists passing between cars etc, but not everyone in a car likes it or is even aware that it IS legal. You find some people will purposely move over to block you, but most will move to let you through if they can.
Yeah, other road users in the UK know that lane splitting or filtering by motorcyclists is legal (actually it has never been made illegal, there's a subtle difference, but has been established in law such that motorists cannot cut up a bike that is filtering past). Some road users are helpful and give motorcyclists space. There are however guidance speed differentials. To use the american definition "filtering" is mostly done at lights but lane splitting on a motorway between lanes at speed can be dangerous (beware of idiots), better done as a simple overtake. When motorway traffic slows to a crawl or a halt, then it is filtering again, or splitting, as the two terms are interchangeable here.
@@davidedbrooke9324 we were on M3 in works van in lane 2 going 65-70 in heavy traffic in pouring rain when some clot shot past splitting lane 2 and 3 pulling a wheelie. That is a mite unusual ...
I can’t stress this enough. Ride your own ride. Your skill level may not be on par with the next person and that is ok. The main thing is you return home safe to your loved ones. This is what I tell myself. By the way I love my Cardo.
Agreed with Donrudeboy T here 150%! Ride to your own pace, this can potentially be extremely dangerous, especially with some of the drivers out there. It's a great thing being allowed to but, never take risks where other bigger vehicles are concerned, pushing yourself can result in panic which can cause you to put yourself in even greater danger, ride ALWAYS to your own comfort and experience and practice using inanimate objects that can't hurt you if you misjudge a bit.
@@M.L.Knotts Brilliant, so glad you came along to state the bloody obvious. We're suggesting DOING it, just at her own pace, not just racing through and hoping for the best. I would like to still see Doodle making vids well into the future.
@@M.L.Knotts So suggesting she "ride ALWAYS to your own comfort and experience and practice using inanimate objects that can't hurt you if you misjudge a bit." is that eh. It's NOT. It is suggesting she practice in a safer environment till she feels comfortable THEN at her own pace amongst the rolling lumps of steel that will kill you if you make any mistake. Caution, NOT reckless, genius.
As someone who rode a big Harley lane splitting on LA freeways I would always ride during the day with the high beam on and thumb resting on the horn button. You develop a kind of six sense as to what the person in each car is doing. You can anticipate which cars are paying attention and which ones aren’t or are about to change lanes. No turn signals of course. Thing is the cell phone has made MC riding so much more dangerous. Especially in LA where nobody is paying attention to driving. Stay safe out there Doodle.
All recommendations are good except the horn, at least here in NorCal we use the throttle to rev the engine. I don't like doing that for may reasons but it is the most used method.
Lane splitting is cool when car drivers are aware of their surrounding. But you did see what could happen when they're not... Hopefully everthing went right and you did well. Ride safe ! Cheers Doodle ! 😄✌👍
@@MurrMan23 6 of one, half a dozen of the other. Buddy lost half a leg and totaled a bike getting side swiped by a car. The rear wheel caught his leg and pulled it under and wrapped it up in the wheel and suspension at about 15-20 mph. He was on vacation in NY and was hit by a cab. Someone else I know was run off the road at highway speed and went head first into a pole and did not survive. Improved odds does not lessen the injuries. Just makes them less likely to happen.
Gotta watch out for people taking your lane even when not splitting. The best part is getting to the front of the light and getting away from them in city traffic.
No matter how down and beat-up I'm feeling. I can always watch you Doodle and laugh. Info and adventure is great here for sure, but the laughs are the thing of my addiction for this channel. Thanks Doodle. Much love!🙂🙂
It's been a few years since I rode, but living in Southern California, lane splitting is a must. My wife didn't do it and didn't like me doing it, but when I sold my bike I agreed to deliver it to the new owner. We were in stop and go traffic with my wife leading in the cage. She wanted me up beside her and told me to split lanes and we would meet back about 15 miles up the road. As a former rider, I try to spot riders coming up behind me and will make room for them whenever possible. I just wish everyone would look out for bikers.
You did real good! I'd hate to think of CA traffic without lane splitting, we couldn't live without it. Yes, many car/truck drivers move to give us a little more room if you don't surprise them by going too fast.
Great job Doodle! Definitely an advanced skill. You brought up an important point few people touch on in the discussion. The reduction in rear end accidents causing traumatic and catastrophic injuries such as amputations, spinal cord injuries, and traumatic brain injuries. Injuries and deaths caused by motorcycles being rear ended are down substantially. As an ambassador for disability service organization for the newly injured patients, we have seen the numbers change dramatically.
Just found your channel the other day and have been watching all your videos. You do a great job and are very fun to watch. Love your positive attitude! Keep up the good work!
I don't think I'd want to do lane splitting at high speeds. If traffic is moving well, I'm good. Lane filtering at slow speed is a great ideas for bike riders...👍😺
Technically we're not allowed to lanesplit unless traffic is slowed down to like 30 mph or below. Even then, we're just supposed to go just 10 over the speed to traffic. But that doesn't stop people from going double the speed.
When I lived in California I rode an RD400 Yamaha with a very wimpy horn. Got ran off the road couple of times and only was on 60/210 freeway once. No way I dared lane splitting when I couldn't be seen or heard!!
In the UK, we are allowed to lane split/filter, but if you do it dangerously/too fast you can still be stopped by police (dangerous driving or driving without due care & attention, I would guess). My own private rule is to filter at about 10/15mph above whatever the cars are doing until the traffic is doing about 40mph, then I just rejoin the traffic (I'm never in that much of a hurry to risk my life).
Still the best channel about motorcycle riding. I rode all over the state of California on hard tail choppers, 1976 Kawasaki KZ900 and BMWs and was never comfortable with lane splitting. Keep up the great work.
Great videos - fun and instructional! I’m a 70 yr old granddaddy (got 4) that lives up in the N Ga mountains (Rabun Co). Looks like you really love what you do - happy for you that you can combine making a living with something so fun. Be careful with that lane splitting!!!!!! Thanks!
You are at the mercy and kindness, and ATTENTIVENESS of the drivers. In the country where I live it's not necessary. But in the big cities it sure be nice.
You are a BADASS I love watching ur videos just got my first bike a 81 Honda cm400 been practicing before I take my MSF and getting comfy with leaning and doing u turns your videos have helped me so much!
I live in SC and the only time I have lane split, is when traffic is backed up, at a dead standstill and I'm looking for an escape or alternate road to go onto. It's not legal. but I'll take my chances with the law. Loved this video! Ride and stay safe in the Peach State Doodle!
Lane splitting should be legal everywhere! I got the LA experience last fall and wouldn’t have gotten anywhere without it. Instead trips take half the time Google says it will!
@@seanmac5093 As tragic as that incident was, if splitting were legal everywhere & it were something that both drivers everywhere knew to always be on the lookout for, & something that all riders were experienced in, that might not have happened. There's currently no data on what sort of impact legalized splitting has on rider accidents & fatalities, so we have no idea if it generally makes riders safer, less safe, or makes no difference. Lane filtering, though (riding between stopped traffic to get to the head of the light), pretty much only makes riders safer as it eliminates the possibility of being hit from behind while stopped, with the only real risks being hitting someone's side mirror if you're not paying attention, or someone being an asshole & deliberately opening their door to stop you, & both filtering & splitting reduce traffic jams for all commuters. Anyways, at this point I'm mostly just rambling, so I'll just close it off by saying that while we don't have real data of just how risky responsible lane splitting is, there are definitely some very significant benefits &, were it legal, it may mitigate most of the risk by having all drivers trained to be on the lookout for it, & all riders trained to do it as safely as possible.
@@chipblanc6037 No, I'm saying it hasn't been properly studied, but there's definite potential for significant benefits, & we don't know how much the risks would be mitigated by it being normalized.
Love that you enjoy your pace , you're the first person i saw not talking about speed speed speed and accident talks , as a guy who is considering starting to ride all this speed talk is pushing me back cause I'm really not obsessed with it i just wanna feel that wind and chill. So until i saw couple of your videos i was thinking "Maybe this is not for me".
Yeah that area along PCH from Santa Monica to Malibu is treacherous. Mix of speeding Porsches and gawking tourists in SUVs - and here comes Doodle splitting them all! Good job! 👌🏼
That's so cool you got to ride with Dan the Fireman! I have learned so much about riding just from watching his videos everyday!!! I was stuck in near stand-still traffic for the first time last week and my first thought was how nice it be to be able to filter through all the stopped cars lol. I was very concerned about running out of gas that day
This was a fun watch. I remember searching for Blvd S40 (My first bike) vids and finding your vids. It's been great following your journey. Also, friend Prince. lol.
Great job! And glad you got to ride with such cool people and they waited for you=awesome. Lane splitting for us Cali folks is a must, traffic everywhere specially in LA area.
Lane splitting is no joke, and definitely takes some getting used to. Impressive that you did it on such a long stretch of freeway for your first time. Keep it up! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
YES!! I love that about LA! People DO part like the Red Sea for motorcyclists in Los Angeles when you’re lane splitting! You can see by the traffic, you HAVE to lane split to keep the traffic from jamming up further. I just moved out of LA to NorCal and this video made me homesick!!
Having grown up in CA, lane splitting is second nature for me, but there is an art to it that takes practice to both get good and to get comfortable doing it. With its heavy traffic, it is an essential skill in CA. One thing that is pretty universal in videos that show lane splitting is that the cameras make it look narrower than it really is.
Good point Michael, lane filtering is an advanced skill. Teachable, and should be taught by the MSP schools. Much like how Doodles just learned, with experienced riders with comms.
I was happy to see you on an Indian!! I recently started riding again after 28 years (previous Harley rider) and the best decision I made was getting on the scout. Love your content!!
I miss California. The first time I got stuck in a traffic jam and saw several bikes pass me by my wife changed her mind on lane splitting. She shouted, "I'm burning up. Go!" It was wonderful. You are right, CA drivers watch out for bikes for the most part. I live in Virginia now and miss it. Drivers here are oblivious to bikers and it's much more dangerous. Learning to lane split is better solo. You can ride at your own pace and stop in open pockets and calm yourself if necessary. Glad you experienced it.
Having ridden in the UK for 42 years I find filtering very easy and safe. What I do find dangerous is listen to music when riding, it takes away one of the most important senses you need to ride safely, madness in my opinion.
What's weird for me is that listening to nothing, I'll get drowsy, and listening to music makes me pay too much attention to the music and not the road. But listening to a podcast, I'll still pay attention to the road, but not get sleepy, and when I'm done, I rarely remember anything about the podcast. Listening to people talk lets me focus on other things. Maybe I'm just a crazed narcissist?
That's amazing rides I saw a lot of favorite bikes of all time. And hey! I'm glad to see you with Dan Dan the fireman. You're really good in lane splitting my friend 🙏🙏🙏
One of the reasons I started riding was so that I could lane split. Working near Downtown Los Angeles it’s a must. You did great, Carolyn! Hope to ride with you someday!
As a Californian, I’m impressed with your splitting skills 🙌 I haven’t tried it myself yet but I can see why a biker would. My bagger is huge, I’m a little concerned about getting stuck between cars and hitting someone 😅
In my home state in New South Wales (Australia). Lane filtering is legal. It has some rules with it (traffic shall be travelling less than 30 KPH which is approx 19 MPH) but has been very successful since it was introduced about 10 years ago.
Love Dan! Awesome watching you guys riding together! Also yeah, it takes a while to get used to lane splitting but you HAVE to do it in California, because otherwise you won't get anywhere!
California is so screwed up, way to many reasons why I'll never live or work in that f'ed up state. I can't believe they had the audacity to try to tax people for LEAVING Kommifornia. I'll have nothing with their sense of good "logic" and will enjoy my lower cost of living and fuel prices where I'm at.
I've ridden, off and on, for 60 or so years. Tried lane splitting two or three times. Massive rush. Major goose bumps. Took an hour for my heart to get below 70. Fun but terrifying, to me. I am in awe of those that can zip by. IDK. People just don't watch for bikes.
Dude, I'm watching this on my phone and I'm gripping my phone so hard right now just watching you! You go, girl! I'm gonna make my second attempt at the MSF course next month, so hopefully some day soon I will be on my way to being as good of a rider as you. Thanks for sharing your experiences, it has really helped me understand a lot of the learning part before diving into the doing part. 🤘 Keep being awesome
AND Hawaii... to a smaller extent. It's legal for motorcycles and scooters to use bike lanes in certain areas to essentially filter through traffic when it's really backed up. It's a little bit confusing as to when and where so basically people just do it everywhere and get this. It helps overall traffic a lot!!
Excellent video Doodle! Will you be talking more about the new Cardo in a future video? I’m keen to here what new features it has to offer. We just call the whole thing filtering here in the UK and it’s totally legal. It’s great for my commute to work! Looks like you did great.
i giggled while watching this. i live in mexico, and let me tell you we do something a level above lane splitting. we cut thru traffic on either side of the car, we do zig-zags between slower cars, right lane passes, we ride on the shoulder to avoid slower traffic, run red lights, go down the wrong side of the road to avoid speed bumps. so yea, advanced warning for you Doodle, if you ever end up riding in Mexico… good luck
Easily the one thing I miss about living in California. Lane splitting made my commute so much easier. So wish they'd make it legal in Georgia. Even then it would take time for those in cars to adjust how they drive to make lane splitting as easy here.
Doodle Illegal here in CT. I simply don't trust car drivers anyway. All you need is someone on their phone to ruin your day. Great video Lady!! Cardo is the best and Sena is the WORST! Been there with all their headsets and Cardo wins hands down. 🌹 Ride SAFE and BE safe Doodle! Peace
I live in São Paulo, Brazil, and it is simply impossible not to lane split here. The space between the cars is very narrow in some streets, so the riders have come up with this habit of constantly honking, so the drivers know you're there. Very risky, but if you can lane split here, you can lane split everywhere!
Good effort Doodles. Keep your speed down (no more than 20 mph above the traffic speed) and take care. Its also very tiring to do lots of lane splitting due to the concentration required.
4:16 a break, some salt air ,some sanity and just a beautiful day...and,hey,friends concerned enough to wait for you. fun times, doodle, thanks for letting us ride along.
Years ago, I took a job that had a 50 mile commute between burbank & rancho Cucamonga. In a car during rush hour, it took 1-½ to 2 hrs. Lane splitting on the honda vfr took less than an hour. First time I tried it, I thought I was gonna die.
I worked in Rancho Cucamonga for couple of years and before the 210 went through there the 10 could be a bit congested going either way. Don't miss the traffic at all!!!
My nephew and I rode from Florida/Georgia to Los Angeles last month and hit I-10 in afternoon traffic. Lane splitting seemed like a great idea until we tried it on our baggers, then nope, nope, nope. Hats off you California riders who have it figured out. Not for me.
You did a good job 💪 Here in The Netherlands is also allowed lane splitting, and the funny thing is I always play a little with my throttle on my Harley that creat the red sea. 😄 I mainly do this for my safety, so they can hear me coming.....potato potato potato potato 😎
Lane splitting is what started my motorcycle journey. I figured out that I could cut my 10 mile journey in LA traffics from 60 minutes to 30 minutes. Here I am nearly 30 years later still riding. The Cardo seems awesome BTW
Lane splitting is not for everyone. I used to do it in my youth, but not any more. Great group won't leave a member behind. Glad you enjoyed it. Stan in Ala.😁🏍️
I am glad that you got to experience lane splitting. I live in a state that does not allow it when I live in America. when I live here in Thailand, I found that lane splitting is not just a common occurrence, but a necessity. Lane splitting is done here not just at low speeds, but also high speeds. I have been doing over 100 Kph and had people lane split on me. This kind of action will even happen in the monsoon deluges that happen here. The ones that worry and scare me the most are the ones who lane split on the mountain roads going to Mae Sot from Tak (I live just outside of Tak with my wife and mother-in-law) I have both an American and Thailand driver's license and motorcycle endorsement for my home state and the separate motorcycle license for motorcycles that is required here for riding motorcycles.
Mate well done!!! That's awesome, it's such a good skill to have. Can I just say too, damn envious you got to ride with Dan Dan!! Keep it up sister, ride safe!!

So I currently live in California (North Bay area) but not from out here originally. I’ve gotten ok lane filtering at stop lights unless of course truck and/or bus makes it difficult. However, riding on Interstate 80 I can’t bring myself to just take off and zip thru traffic at 55-60 like I see being done all the time. I ride by myself so I’m sure being in a group makes it much easier on the nerves. Great video!
Don't don't worry doodle. I refuse to Lane split anywhere. I have seen too many people get hurt. The way I see it. I will get there when I get there I'd rather be safe than sorry. Don't let anybody pressure you into doing something you're not comfortable with. Take care doodle
When I lived in NY we would split and filter. I stuck to filtering myself but people accepted and it was fine but I’ve also heard of places where people will go out their way to block you. Haven’t tried here in Georgia yet
i lived in california and been doing lane splitting for a while now with my new yamaha mt03 its hard for the first time you do it but you will get used to it because highway traffic here is a menace and its true that cars will try to get out of your way that is if they saw you coming so you need to have your eyes sharped ahead looking left and right focusing it entirely and they even let us used the diamond lane(carpool) so that we can get away from the traffic hope you had fun here in the golden state ride safe!!!
I don't remember the number, but congestion went down dramatically in California when they started lane splitting, and as this happened more people started riding to shorten commute times. As drivers began to see their own commute times go down some started too appreciate it and started moving over
Exactly. It’s not everybody moving over and you still have your salty people who think you are cheating but a lot of people recognize that it helps overall traffic out a lot so they encourage it for the greater good.
@@paulconnell1309 I need to look up some of said research. I've seen some animations on how the zipper method helps bottle necks but it seems like way too many people can't get the basic math of it. Hopefully more awareness will spread but we have a lot of hard-headed people here in the States.
@@paulconnell1309 the vast majority of drivers in the United States would rather pile into one lane a mile before a bottleneck merge and be completely baffled at why traffic is backed up a whole mile longer than it really needs to be. I don’t understand why it’s confusing, utilize as much of the road as possible and traffic won’t be as backed up. I’ve tried to explain it to people and I have tried to make people understand that when motorcycles filter that leaves nearly a whole car lengths worth of drivable space open… but it seems to be a losing battle.
@@JasonYergin The other thing people misunderstand is that if you leave a gap traffic flows smoothly. Tail gate and when someone slows, the lane stops two miles back for no apparent reason. It is wave theory and this was proved on an English track. But people think they get there faster by tail gating. Insanity...
Fun day!! Where I live down under lane filtering (traffic stopped) is legal and I do it a lot. Lane splitting is vague. Technically you are passing the car on the left (for you right) as undertaking is illegal. So technically you stay in the left lane (right for you). The reality is that if you do it responsibly the cops don't mind. Do it too fast, which some do, and they book you. When lane splitting, I have had to pull over for other bikes. Doesn't scare me but I find it hard work as I consciously consider and pass every car. Where I live across town works well as you can filter at every light and with a small twist of the right hand leave traffic behind, till the next lights.
Since I live in South Dakota we do not lane split here. Our population density is very low, even in our towns and cities. I can see the advantage in higher densities. You have "pluck", Doodle. Good job!
love your video's , here in the Netherlands lane splitting is legal but when the cars are going above 25mph you have to merge with the traffic , what's the point of riding a motorcycle if this isn't allowed? because it helps shortening the traffic jams ! Again love your comments and video's please keep going and stay safe .
OMG you were in my home town! Welcome to California. Lane splitting is no joke. I only do it when I am on the freeway and traffic is going 30mph or slower.
Having just moved out of California, I miss lane splitting. It’s definitely more efficient for everyone on the road, despite how some car drivers seem to hate it.
I'm a Thai, living in Thailand. I learned to ride motorcycle in Indiana in 1960s. First warning from my US friend pillion rider was that lane splitting was illegal. When I returned to Thailand, I never lane split or filtering. I'd stop behind a car. I was kind of afraid that the car behind would honk horn to push me into filtering. But that never occurred , Cars drivers were tolerant of my motorcycle. BTW, I stop my bike near the left side of the lane ( we drive on the left side just like the British) so car could share the lane. But that never happen. I see many accidents because of lane splitting and filtering, and feel that they should be illegal. But you mentioned that Californian drivers were moving like the red sea to accommodate motorcycles Lanes in the US are quite wide, but traffic lanes in Thailand are narrow.
IF IF traffic is at a dead standstill, yeah I can see doing splitting/filtering at a very low speed like 10mph, but I have seen too many wrecks to think its otherwise safe. Glad you had a safe trip. :)
Late to the party on this video ! Makes utter sense to maximise traffic flow, you can save so much time. I live in an area that gets busy in holiday season, coming back from work I would often have to lane split for miles - car journey 45/60 minutes, bike journey 25 minutes even with all the traffic 🙂
I’m enjoying my brake free light.I’m kinda on the fence about lane splitting.I can see pros & cons.if you caught a mirror from a vehicle,if a vehicle switches lanes as you’re splitting.cross streets, vehicles pulling into traffic all valid concerns.usually if I find a road too crowded I try a different route.no need to be the meat in a steel sandwich.
You learn to look I to people's cars and see where they are looking, that's often a sign of them wanting to move, turn signal or not. Also, beware gaps between cars, as those are where people in adjacent lanes will want to move to.

Basic Lanesplitting rules:
1. Only split between the 1 and 2 lane (far left)
2. Don't split if traffic is moving above 40mph
3. Don't go more than 10mph faster than surrounding traffic
4. Cover your front brake with two fingers, and be extra aware of "gaps" when cars will move over quickly
Otherwise, as someone who's been riding in CA for 13 years, lanesplitting is the only way to get around
Also be extra vigilant when approaching off ramps. People suddenly realizing that they need to get to the ramp from the fast lane are a major danger.
7. Watch their front wheels.
I follow same logic in BKK

I’m in California, and I don’t see any drivers moving to make space. friend told me some open their car doors, too. But, I haven’t seen that yet.
So they could all hear you squealing as you lane filtered. Love it.
I got that during some lessons and wasn't aware. Teacher said I swear like a pirate.
Quite right, most drivers are very good. The benefit for them is one less vehicle in a queue.

You can't learn and progress if you don't try
@@M.L.Knotts Brilliant, so glad you came along to state the bloody obvious. We're suggesting DOING it, just at her own pace, not just racing through and hoping for the best. I would like to still see Doodle making vids well into the future.
@@lorditsprobingtime6668 sure didn't seem that way. Sounded like you were very dismissive of doing anything out of your comfort zone
101 thousand subs Mrs doodle , you deserve it ...well done , keep up the great videos.. ..
Watch someone get rear ended at 30 miles an hour. Much worse than having to be prepared to slightly swerve or brake.
@@PetrolJunkie there are definitely circumstances of course where bad things can happen regardless. I’m sorry to hear about your friends.

I agree
When I lived in California I rode an RD400 Yamaha with a very wimpy horn. Got ran off the road couple of times and only was on 60/210 freeway once. No way I dared lane splitting when I couldn't be seen or heard!!
same!
As usual, you made me laugh out loud.
Guy was lane splitting and I didn't know it.... I turned into the passing lane and he hit me from behind. He is dead. So, not seeing your point.
@@SeraphimCramer so you r saying it's danger and deaths r OK because it's more convenient in one location...
@@chipblanc6037 No, I'm saying it hasn't been properly studied, but there's definite potential for significant benefits, & we don't know how much the risks would be mitigated by it being normalized.

That's so cool you got to ride with Dan the Fireman! I have learned so much about riding just from watching his videos everyday!!!
The horn on my RD400 was unreliable and too weak to be of use. In fast traffic that bike got buffeted too easily. But it was fast!!
Good point Michael, lane filtering is an advanced skill. Teachable, and should be taught by the MSP schools. Much like how Doodles just learned, with experienced riders with comms.
I love your personality. This looks like it would be so much fun.
Happy new year. Have a safe 2023 and keep the videos coming.
That's amazing rides
I saw a lot of favorite bikes of all time.
That's smart!

Awesome video ... Love the commentary when going through traffic
Come to Sao Paulo- Brazil and that lane splitting in CA will looks like a walk on the park. Here´s totally insane.
Love your videos btw.
Here in Japan splitting and filtering are a bit of a gray area. People still split but I stick to filtering at some lights that offer an escape path.
Love your channel and enthusiasm and Dan is the man

I live in São Paulo, Brazil, and it is simply impossible not to lane split here. The space between the cars is very narrow in some streets, so the riders have come up with this habit of constantly honking, so the drivers know you're there. Very risky, but if you can lane split here, you can lane split everywhere!
Good effort Doodles. Keep your speed down (no more than 20 mph above the traffic speed) and take care. Its also very tiring to do lots of lane splitting due to the concentration required.

Not for me.

Here in The Netherlands is also allowed lane splitting, and the funny thing is I always play a little with my throttle on my Harley that creat the red sea.
Doodle you crack me up! I'm not a lane splitter but I think filtering would pay off in this area. Anyway, as usual a great video. Thanks!!
Cool video, thanx for sharing. I watched a rider come up on a couple pickup trucks with them huge tow mirrors. That was a disaster.

I love these type of videos of yours you're personailty is so cute

Great job riding and lane splitting, 😊, enjoyed the video as always, be safe
I don't remember the number, but congestion went down dramatically in California when they started lane splitting, and as this happened more people started riding to shorten commute times. As drivers began to see their own commute times go down some started too appreciate it and started moving over
Exactly. It’s not everybody moving over and you still have your salty people who think you are cheating but a lot of people recognize that it helps overall traffic out a lot so they encourage it for the greater good.
Yeh and moderate move of people from four to two wheels would have a massive impact o congestion. There is English research on it.
You should come here to Bangkok and watch people lane splitting here. Thanks for another entertaining video!
Great video Doodle 😊 Takes some guts to try this for the first time 🤘
Wow, this is a pretty good video and you got a lot of famous people there from TH-cam. Excellent.
Arizona is the same now as cali we just passed like 2 months ago!!! And to everyone that rides stay safe and keep it on 2s
Well your good to go for your UK tour now. :)
