10 yes! I liked the castle floor plan maps with a pointer to what rooms or areas were currently being shown in the video. Also liked the Google Earth fly-in only taking up one corner of the screen. Thank you guys!
Best castle ruins I have seen so far on your channel! I must give it an arbitrary subjective score of 10. Nice hike, great views, so much left of the castle that you actually got to explore. Thank you!
I love the way you are continuing to develop your style in presenting yourselves and the structures that you present. Please keep the little less well known ones coming too. Thanks History Hikers.
Hi Dries and Jente, I hope you're both well xx ❣️❣️ I agree that 10 is well deserved for this Castle. It has to be the most well preserved of all the Castles that you have visited. Especially due to its vast size and the spectacular views in every direction. Thankyou so much for sharing all of the Castles 💒and the History of them. It's always a pleasure to tag along with you. Happy Hiking 🥾🥾 Take care and stay safe Lots of love and Big Hugs Jen xxxx ❤️❤️❤️🫂🫂🫂🫂🐕

Just looking out at the slope accessed by the first postern gate you guys showed makes me a tad anxious, and I’m not even trying to leave that way heh. Imagine being a soldier or courier or some such tasked with having to try to escape that way in order to take word to another garrison, or pleas for military relief… the continued integrity of the entire fortress and the lives of everyone inside depend on you, and you have to go down THAT F’ING HILL. Silently, and without being seen, probably under cover of night. Jeeeeeeeze. Break out the brown medieval undies.
Really good video you guys! Amazing in the quality of the filming, the explanations, the visuals you give us, even seeing the both of you as such a cute couple brightens up the video, good job! And that castle! So many cool features! Again, the way you showed us the location and described the area and stuff.... ("this is where your journey ends") really helps you get immersed in it, at least as much as you can without being there.
Thanks, we felt that story coming in as we were there ourselves and as we were editing. It's an amazing castle to visit and makes us want to revisit Peyrepertuse so much more in the sunshine 👍
12:28 I would imagine at that height, you wouldnt need to drop very big stones to cause some fatal damage. You would have to be out of your mind to attempt to take over that castle.
@@TheHistoryHikers And here I was looking at the backpack thinking "Imagine having to be the one to haul the stones up that they are going to throw down later".....armor is another scary thought!
The Château de Puilaurens is a massive and dizzy medieval building. As a French, I think that type of castle is not getting the same attention and budget from the government as others more luxury ones are.
You can see all the holes on the interior walls which used to be where large wooden planks would have been for walkways and interior flooring and walls on the upper levels. Too bad this is just a shell of what the castle was really like, still great to see how much remains. I wonder if the iron gate we saw at the postern gate was from the actual period, also the iron grate we saw in the floor.
True, the castle would have been way more impressive back in the day! I don't think the iron grates are from the period, rather installed in the last century to keep people like ourselves from exploring further and falling to our deaths 😄
I wonder what people thought at that time? "In 820 years, I'm sure two people will be walking around here in shorts and filming the remains of the castle". Great ruin... great= impressive and big

Unanimous 10! Wow what amazing views over the mountains. Standing on that ledge is a mindboggling experience!
I bet you can imagine being there yourself! ❤️

It's going to be hard to compete with Puilaurens in future videos, but we'll keep trying to find stunning castle ruins 👍

Thanks, we try to keep improving 😊. And of course the less well known ones will always have a place here, it's part of our mission statement!

Wow! Stunning castle, definitely a 10! Great tour, thanks!!!

🇧🇷☕hello from Brazil. Beautiful video and landscape. I love old medieval history and castle.
Thanks for watching!

Hahaha. You are quite right. The castle gets even more intimidating as you imagine yourself in the shoes of people who were there all those years ago.
Yes, a 10! Perfect castle ruin video - thanks!
Amazing castle and amazing score! 👍

Best castle ruins a 10 plus. Thank you for bringing these videos to us.
Probably our favorite as well (so far)!

Thanks a lot!
Another great place. Take care 👍
Thanks so much, have a good one 😊
Great Video
Thank you! 👍

Yes, exactly. We were exhausted when we got to the gate. Now imagine doing that in armour...

@@TheHistoryHikers 😁 sporty tourists !

I wouldn't know. Comparing it to other ruins it does get more attention than some lesser known ones, I think?
@@TheHistoryHikers Definitely, what an attraction that château would be at the very top of the hill if completely restored.🤩
Oui un 10, magnifique
C'est fantastique, peut-être un 11 ?
Great video!
Thank you!
Must have been beautiful when new for each stage of time🎭
Exactly 😁

Yep, a 10 from me too !
Ah Puilaurens, one of our faves! Great!
This reminds me of the castle used in SPARTACUS.
I wouldn't know what castle they used there, maybe it was this one!
I wonder what people thought at that time? "In 820 years, I'm sure two people will be walking around here in shorts and filming the remains of the castle".
Great ruin... great= impressive and big
They probably did yes haha 😂
