I don't think japan has anything to do with quiting your job when you get married. I think it's more of the person choosing family over continuing working. But in the vtuber/idol/etc industry, sadly it's quite common in jp fans(or any) that if their oshi is in a relationship, they feel betrayed or the talent is not pure. Obviously not all fans but a very small minority. Some continue to support, some stop supporting alltogether, some even become haters, but a very small amount of fans could do rather dangerous things like stalking, death threats, ddos/hack, or expose the talent's real identity/family. So it's not recommended to tell you have a relationship with someone because of the potential danger it could impose on the talents. This is my 2 cents on this topic tho. Could be wrong, but there is some truth at the very least.
