When I was younger I used to lifeguard for a couple years over at Buccaneer Bay in Weeki Wachee Springs. Even today as a big tourist attraction, the prices are still not as high as this lagoon and you can swim in the beautiful crystal clear spring waters, tube ride down the river, go down the big water slides and can also walk to the other side to visit the park area where you can watch the mermaid show and attend other events. As a Florida resident you can pay a one set price for the seasonal pass and can also bring your own foods and drinks. That's how it should be cause not everyone can afford prices as high as these and I'm sure they would love to see it also!😎😎😎
Wow, no water being brought in, is ridiculous! Plus many people these days have children that are highly allergic to peanuts and cannot trust outside food vendors. This is a shame. This was a great unbiased review.
I think with this kind of thing being still novel, the developers are trying to maximally capitalize on it, recouping their construction costs ASAP. It's understandable, but remember, if nobody comes, they'll be forced to lower entrance fees. (Disney gets by with it because PEOPLE ARE WILLING TO PAY those prices.) Over time, I would expect entrance fees to these fake lagoon beaches to fall, as the facilities age, and as they just want to attract larger crowds (rather than discouraging large crowds with high prices).
Thank you for the video! I live close to epperson and even closer to mirada. One small note...if you go after 3pm, the entry drops to $30. I thought about doing the paddleboarding because I've never done it before. I've looked into it at other places and the prices are not cheap. Also, I wouldn't want to do it in the lakes here because of gaters. Any beach is at least an hour away, so with those things in mind, it might be an option. I do find it expensive for what it is and almost rude that EVERYTHING is extra.
Yeah, I think it's definelty a great place to learn how to paddleboard. Better to fall into a chlorinated pool than a muddy lake with gators and other stuff!
I just bought tickets to take my daughter tomorrow. I got tickets for half day as I don’t want to be out in the sun all day. I was turned off by their strict water policy and no food… I’m concerned about the lack of shade by the water. You have to rent everything, it’s ridiculous!! I have a question, do they have lockers? Where would you leave your keys and phone when you go in the water??? Also, do they have showers? How clean are their restrooms??
Many people can't afford shit like this. It doesn't mean we're cheap...and like the wages most workers of these types of places pay...don't pay enough for the workers to afford these kinds of amenities. Most people in AZ are not wealthy. Rather than playgrounds for the well off, I'd much rather seen Glendale creating community programs that support affordable housing, living wages, and investments in education. Not tax breaks for developers.
Great video. Very detailed. Hats off. No, you are not being lame about the food and drink. That's why I always suggest a Nascar race for families. I would love to see you do a review of that. You can bring your own food and drinks to a race and they have all kinds of fun stuff going on. Very family friendly. Keep the good work up.
They lost me on the can’t bring your own basic water. That should never be restricted in any capacity. I like how Disney makes sure everyone has access to free water.. and they would not stop you from bringing your own. They don’t want serious dehydration issues or heat strokes on their watch.
I f this was for everyone it would not be so bad. Everyone keeps saying that it will be sooo exclusive. Well guess who they will exclude?? Like always.
@reglook1 I'm looking at the video. If you are implying certain ethnic groups are excluded, the video evidence would disprove that notion. The only exclusion here would be those who didn't have the for the fees to use the facilities. That's not discrimination. It's simple reality. The place is in business to make money. These Crystal Lagoons (a trademarked, patented system) aren't cheep to install and maintain. In Texas these things are being built as amenity packages in new communities. A developer has several thousand acres to build homes, shops, green space, parks, schools, etc, and instead of a golf course, they build a Lagoon. It's an interesting concept. But expensive. All of these communities act as HOAs, of course.
Nice review,,, however you may think it's expensive, but if you saw the cost of maintaining that giant pool, employees, and land taxes, you may see why the price is high.
Columbia gets so hot! I lived there and on Lexington SC. Hotter there in summer than where I live in the Tampa area. It's a good idea to build them there. I don't remember if there is a water park in the area or not.
This place looks great, But I'm not sure if me driving from my home in Orlando to pay all that money once I'm in there is worth it. Thanks for the detailed video. That's my only deal breaker I don't mind the noise and no shadow since I love the sun.
(Oh, they are building one here in Melbourne, FL, which is supposed to encompass housing, shopping and entertainment, so I don't know if there'll be admission, given that the ocean is so close. Maybe the lagoon beach will an amenity for residents.)
That's the most common business plan in Texas. Developers with several thousand acres for homes, shops, parks, etc, will put in a Lagoon instead of a golf course. These are all HOA situations so it's considered an amenity, though I believe things like kayak rentals and such cost $$. There's a big one in Prosper, Texas in the Dallas-Ft Worth Metroplex.
We have natural springs, beaches, rivers and lakes within 1 to 2 hours from most of Florida but we still feel we need to pave over natural habitats to one up nature.
The Brightwater North Fort Myers location told us that if you LIVE there, the HOA pays for this. The additional fees we were told, were for visitors only. I want to retire there!
The Mirada lagoon just opened just north of Tampa. It's the largest in the US. $40 for adults, $35 for kids, 3 and under free. I think it is too pricey but I can see the appeal to some people. It just isn't my cup of tea.

@@SunshineStateInsider not correct! I was there visiting on Monday. I’m looking for a townhouse and went there to check one out. A bit pricey, but nice ones.
Its too pricey. It should be $50 for the whole day for adults, and $25 for kids. All things included , it should be first come/first serve for the stuff they are currently charging money for like seats/umbrellas, kayaks etc. The only thing they should charge extra for is food/drinks.

To keep everything going positively, they should re-evaluate their price structures.
Good water is becoming difficult to find in Florida. City and counties are either talking about or injecting treated water in the Florida Aquifer. Is this a good justification for using more water and what is the makeup of that water?

Yeah, I was never a Business Major, but to your point. Actually yeah. They still let you bring food into lots of ballparks. There are vendors outside of lots of them like Wrigley Field & Nationals Park selling water and snacks to bring in. You can also bring your own food into Disney World, Universal, their waterparks, state parks, and the beach - which this place is a direct competitor of.
Ehh, interesting but not sold on it. Guess Id have to check it out live to make a fair assessment. Its expensive but then again that would probably make it homie free so it may be worth it.
Homie free lmao
Looks cool, until you read the reviews, then it looks like a total ripoff .... read the Google reviews when I first heard about this place via Facebook, no way now will I go. Thanks for your take on this.
