A Routine Day - KLAATU

- It's Just Like a Day in Life, dont you Think?
It started off a routine day
I got through the morning in the usual way
I caught to buy some time
Good morning, Mr. Driver, drive
As I sat inside my overcoat I clutched my cane
And pressed my nose against the foggy window pane
Ho hum
The life I lead would even make a DEAD MAN YAWN
Midday comes
I break for lunch
With my sandwich and a beer I go on a hunch
To the park where I hope to find
A little bit of "PEACE OF MIND"
As I sat there on a bench amidst the rodent race
I felt a strange sensation that without a trace appeared
But then as quickly disappeared again
So tell me "what's the bloody point" of playing the game
With so much to lose yet so little to gain
You sell your life away
Can't you see you're just a cog working like a dog
You trade your future for a dead-end job
That's full of routine days
Routine days
When your own group is confused with THE BEATLES...
you're in EPIC company.
lol. That and they're sounding similar to ELO, off the top of my head.
One of the hardest songs I ever heard, really makes you think twice about your job, and life as a whole
I can't believe the people who have never heard of Klaatu. Have a friend in Canada who had never heard of them. I've been listening to this group since 1977. Heard on the radio in Denver
such an underrated band
I love this. The animation, music, and lyrics are wonderful. Klaatu stands well upon its own feet. I love the whole "Sir Army Suit" album, as well as its two predecessors. .
"And I'm waiting on the pier until Charon comes..." Charon, of course, is the ferryman who transports the newly deceased to Hades.
They were a highly underrated band for sure
Hope that you have a LENGTHY WAIT and are Enjoying Positive Times while Reminiscing?
KLAATU were AWESOME and fortunately there's LIVE Footage of them Here on TH-cam!
Thanks @TH-cam, Too!!!
That moment when the films Yellow Submarine, American Pop, and Heavy Metal had a baby 🤣 I love Klatuu!
One of the very best pieces of animation and music out there
I remember hearing this on on the radio in May 1979, and it spent 7 weeks on the RPM singles chart in May-June 1979, but amazingly, peaked at only #82 on May 26.
"The life I lead would even make a DEAD MAN YAWN"
What a lyric.
This could easily pass as a George Harrison tune.
True true 😊
Certainly.
So true when I first heard it I thought it was George
It kinda sounds like Paul too
Wolloschuck It 's like an hybrid between George Harrison and Paul mccartney
This and Paul's Another Day are very similar songs thematically speaking.
1:38 The man gets up from the bench and leaves a double of himself, who becomes a skull.
It's very good. It's a very interesting song and music video.
Obviously, Klaatu is a very philosophical band.
Noone is used to story heavy songs, that might seem very empty and might seem boring.
No, its under its surface feel as a song more about dealing with the tedium of life as an adult.
Its groundbreaking, because its _not groundbreaking_ for the usual way that nearly 100% of music groups are, with nearly 100% of their songs.
This is Progressive Rock to some of the outer limits of its style.
The scene with the man walking along the M.C. Escher building seriously _does_ illustrate the simplistic, but highly abstract meaning the artists were going for.
the little boys are The Beatles!!!!
I don't believe so, but the interesting thing is the shadows behind them..
In London... the mouse, the ship... and the sun.
Amazing music! Brilliant!
I thought this was George Harrison when I first heard it
Sick of people mentioning the beatles. I love both but this band is just it's own cool thing, appreciate it for what it is
That's Right!!!! and Don't Forget the Skull - The Death itself!!!
2:49 Paul McCartney's Eye, only one eye and with the dead inside...
¡Amazing!
Faz parte de minha adolescência
THIS SONG BY KLATUU SOUNDS LIKE ELO - NOT THE BEATLES AT ALL.
Imagine this get viral
The Lickerish Quartet "Lighthouse Spaceship" by is very Klaatu
Nobody has mentioned Klaatu were a Canadian progressive rock group.
Does anyone know who directed this music video? I've never been able to find that bit of info. Klaatu rules!
Yes, they are!!!! There´s a photograph of John with the same cap, when he was a child. And the last boy is definitely Paul, look his hair!!!
In case you didn't know, the identity of the Klaatu boys was revealed in the mid-70's. They are not The Beatles.
If this animated video was made at the time of the Sir Army Suit album (1978), then it predates Video Killed the Radio Star, and should officially be considered the first ever music video!
Hola! No sé si estoy equivocada...
Why are there so many Beatles comments? They had nothing to do with them.. it was disproven back in the day and it’s the reason they lost the fan base
A London bus in a video and also the clock tower by a Canadian band no wonder people be thinking its the Beatles bet it is
Memories of my Freshman year in college...
2:30 John Lennon, Terry Draper, John Wholoschuck, and Mr. Dee Long.
Does That Look Like John To You!? He Dosent Even Resemble One Bit To John! You're Stupid Neutrino
3:01 Who is the Number 5 in the boat? And who is the number 6?
Suena como a George Harrison
In some parts it does yeah
1:04 Men on horseback reflected in the water, may be The Beatles in Penny Lane? Three white horses, and the men are dressed in red jackets, as the Beatles.
crei que eran the beatles, estilo muy parecido.
john lennon ish sounding vocals. not too shabby
yeahh!! they know about Paul.....!
Excellent video. A good amount of Beatles symbolism in it. Check out my youtube interview with Terry Draper.
TOO MENY HINT TO SAY... IT IS NOT THE BEATLES !!!!!!!
😎 It's Not "A DAY IN THE LIFE',...But,a Darn Cool Video (Love Me Some ROTOSCOPE!!! 😜 ) and I Have a Greater Appreciation For The Song and The Album It Comes From Than I Did Before!!! 👍 👽 🌝
(FYI ~ I Own Their First 4 Albums.) 👍
Plead (for) the Fifth!
the little boys hg
0:50 The Old Billy Shears (Willam Campbell) of the Yellow Submarine movie and Sgt. Peppers.
Really? I didn't know that
This guy can drink on lunch hour, what’s he complaining about?
1:57 The same woman dancing in Lucy in the sky with diamons?
They weren’t the Beatles but they sure milked it.
yeahh!! they know about Paul.....!
