I've got a 1910 mk2 "Hunting pattern" Ross in .303 brit with a stuck rear sight I think the range adjustment screw had rusted or seized, Any tips for fixing this?

I s in meridian idaho, i made the mistske of taking my enfield to a local shop because they stated that they worked on enfields. Three times (slow learner), i ended up replacing parts myself
It’s hard to have an apprentice in this line of work. One innovation this industry lacks is the ability to pass it on. I was interested when I was a kid to learn from a man named Max Leindier. Dad and grandpa thought he was nuts with his wildcatting. My cousin and I always enjoyed watching him, listening to his stories, and the smell of vanilla cigars. Too bad we were told not visit on our own, who knows what we might have learned.

I've only ever been to Wyoming twice and that was running across I-80 in my big rig. Also US89 from Utah to Wyoming. The first time I saw the state I felt at home. I wish I could convince my fiance to move there. Would love to live in wyoming and be a sportsman the way I've always wanted to be.

You know, I just recalled seeing some videos where a master shotgun smith, who worked for the most prestiges makers in England, explained how a few things should be done. He showed how to get a shotgun "back on face", tighten the bite, etc. I wonder if you would consider making some instructional videos along those lines for rifles? In this way you could pass on more of your knowledge to future generations.
I could barely tolerate the 7mm RM recoil and still not flinch, that’s my max and I’ll de with it. Actually a couple of decades ago i went girly and got me a 7mm-08 with a 24” Yugoslav Mauser, never looked back. For what I’ve got here in Fl I think even a skinny black bear willl hurt.
I would love to have Randy build a 358 Winchester based rifle that is well ballanced and accurate enough to hunt with and use in local hunting rifle matches...

well like i said.. i am a machinist.. or a "machine tool operator"... i can do just about anything myself.. but have little money.. i would only want a rifle made by you.. ...for sentimental reasons... knowing what your life represented to all i loved in my own life...... thank you very much for the insight on the trigger... .. i havent researched it much... .. I fell in love with the CZ single set trigger as i won a 200 yard 22 contest at TSJC about 20 years ago with a friend's borrowed CZ 22.... Hello Randy, I’m just wondering about the continued repeatability and accuracy of the breakdown rifle combination of 7mm Rem Mag and 375 H&H due heavy recoil? What kind of accuracy can we expect on the average after multiple breakdowns and rounds shot? Will you also be working up loads for both calibers?
The rifles I build in takedown repeat for years. Accuracy is very good, as good, sometimes better than traditional in same caliber. All barrels are fully glass bedded. And they go back to zero. Thanks for watching.

if I go to the doctor for a cold, i’m willing to see anybody in the emergency room. But if I am going in for major surgery, I most definitely would rather see a specialist. When it comes to custom rifles, I will not seek out a jack of all trades. I will seek out the guy that specializes in the particular rifle that I am building.
I look back now and the $2,000 I spent on buying the 7mm Rem. Mag and all the components I bought with it, I wonder if I could’ve gotten the package from you for the same price.

The Real Gunsmith Gotcha. I’ve looked at a lot of rifle companies including custom outfits and have yet to see craftsmanship. Any firearm ought to be a thing of beauty that every time it’s pulled out, there’s an instant satisfaction of the firearm. I have a S&W 640 Pro and it is absolutely beautiful and has true craftsmanship. But when it comes to rifles, haven’t found one yet that the action, barrel, stock, and scope are made by hand from scratch. What I’ve noticed is stocks seem to be an after thought-not tailored to the rest of the gun. There’s always a drastic contrast of the stock from the entire system. Do you hammer forge your parts or do you only order parts and then true them together?
The Real Gunsmith To find craftsmanship on rifles, I had to go back to the Sharps rifle. If there was a way to combine that kind of work with the technology of rifles today, would be a perfect rifle. The only rifle, more recently, I could find that everything is tailored well together would be Henry Big Boy. I like the look but just not a fan of lever action rifles because of the available calibers.

Yes, I am. I have had young men, as young as 16 [by their admission anyway] say they enjoy learning from my videos, and I have had correspondence with young 20-30 year olds, too. The Real Gunsmith I think he means a new hand made action, patterned after the Mauser design. It would need to be quite an enlargement of the basic design to contain the girth and pressures of the 50.

I curious as a estimate to the cost as I'm not a gunsmith though i am taking courses currently to become one my question is would it be easy to mill out a Mauser 98 action to accommodate the 50BMG girth as well as handle the pressure? In my mind scaling up the Mauser 98 seems simple with modern milling equipment, but I've never done this kind of work so i don't know? Randy could this be done?

I like composite stocks, walnut stocks and laminate stocks. I love em all.

Yes, Bill Ruger saw the first rifle in takedown and thought it was well done.

Yes, I am. I have had young men, as young as 16 [by their admission anyway] say they enjoy learning from my videos, and I have had correspondence with young 20-30 year olds, too. There are also young and older men asking about apprenticeships, which I don't do for too many reasons to list here.

Can you do a 50BMG Mauser action?
There is not a Mauser action out there made to handle 50 BMG.

I think he means a new hand made action, patterned after the Mauser design. It would need to be quite an enlargement of the basic design to contain the girth and pressures of the 50.

I curious as a estimate to the cost as I'm not a gunsmith though i am taking courses currently to become one my question is would it be easy to mill out a Mauser 98 action to accommodate the 50BMG girth as well as handle the pressure? In my mind scaling up the Mauser 98 seems simple with modern milling equipment, but I've never done this kind of work so i don't know? Randy could this be done?
