Happy New Year! This video concludes my bicycle trip from North to South Vietnam. I traveled a little over 2,133 km (1,325 miles) during this journey. Along the way, I had three flat tires, one broken spoke, and completed the entire trip wearing the famous Vietnamese sandals. I might have even set some unofficial world records in them! No accidents, no physical injuries-just a full range of Vietnam’s extreme weather. Everything was documented on my Strava: Dustin Cheverier * Longest ride: 256 km (159 miles) near the Cambodian border to Ho Chi Minh City (shown in this video). * Most elevation in a single ride (and hardest day): 2,779 m (9,117 ft) Video link. * Total riding days: 21. * Total elevation for the trip: 19,992 m (65,590 ft). To answer some of your questions: 1. My dog, Xúc Xích (in the video, pronounced “soup sick”): I’m fortunate to have neighbors who take care of her when I’m away. 2. Why do I wear sandals? The main reason is their versatility-I can cycle and walk in them, they’re lightweight, compact, and can get wet without an issue. Also, I wear size 45-46, which is nearly impossible to find in Vietnam. Carrying extra pairs of shoes would take up too much space on a bicycle. 3. Riding solo: I’ve done many bike trips in Vietnam, Southeast Asia, and the USA, and I always prefer doing them solo. It allows me to ride at my own pace and follow my own plans.
Year 1945 to 2025 the Leader of the Vietnamese Communist Government orderly forced all the Ministry of Educations, all the textbooks, the newspaper Editorial Offices, the Television Stations, the Radio Stations, the Kindergartens, the High Schools, the College, Campuses, the Universities to must propaganda Anti all the American and the Western People and must very hateful, dislike the American people and the Western People for the rest of their life and forever. Vietnamese Communist Government and the Northern of Vietnamese People from outside their faces always seem happy with smile to communicate to all the American people and the Western People. But inside their hearth all very hateful and truth dislike forever all the American people and the Western People. The proof: The Leader of the Vietnamese Communist orderly forced to build lots of the steles of hatred against the American people and the Western People everywhere in Vietnam from the North to the South. You can see from your own eyes about the steles of hatred against the American people and the Western People at the U.S. Consulate General, 4 Le Duan Road, Ben Nghe, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam. In the Text Books, Newspapers, Televisions, Radio Propaganda that all the American people and the Western People chop the Vietnamese belly and ate their internal organs of children, women, and girls alive and kidnap than raped, shot, killed Vietnamese people everywhere in Vietnam before 1975. Please share this true news to everyone so they can know and protecting themself.
In Vietnam culture, kids sleep with uncles, aunts or parents/ grandparents and it’s considered normal. If kids love you or they feel comfy with you, they will ask if they can sleep with you. Sorry it made you confused or uncomfortable when the 2 boys asked you that. Actually, we don’t let kids sleep by themselves until they get a little bit older since we just wanna make sure they’re ok, and also because we usually don’t have the big house so that each kid will have their own room. Our new generation has changed a little bit and kinda imitate Western culture nowadays “kids have their own room since they’re little now.” Anyways, thanks very much for sharing your cycling tour. It’s a real life of part of Vietnamese. Wishing you a good health, happiness and luckiness! Hope more video clips coming. 🎉
Congrats Matthew, may your years together as a married couple be blessed and filled with happiness 👏🙏. Great weather we have in California now thus far Dustin 🌞 have a great and joyful New Year’s
Congratulation Mathew 🎉🎉🎉🎉 Great video Beautiful wedding I wish the wedding could be longer I am in Pensyvania, American citizen and Vietnamese live America for 40 yrs
It is quite rare to see a foreigner speak Vietnamese as naturally as a native, using phrases like 'Dạ' so often 🥰. I know it’s not easy to learn a new language to that level. Thank you for your efforts and for sharing about Vietnamese culture!
Funny hearing how much you had others break down every little detail of the US ceremony, but it really isn't a given or obvious to people more familiar with Vietnamese weddings (and I'd be wondering the same details for Vietnamese weddings). Funny hearing you "that's al; the food?" compared to all the food at your first wedding.
You are so brave to film everything in Matthew’s wedding. Because in the west country, they don’t like to be film. Every event, when i hold my camera they look at me like an idiot 😅, I scare 😅. Specially in the Uk 🇬🇧
Dustin, you can ask permission to go in the house by using this " Chị ơi/ Anh ơi, em có thể vào nhà của chị quay phim ( bên trong ) một chút được không ?"
I was wondering about how that banana was doing, great to see its borne fruit! I’m loving the inappropriateness of the friends’ humor. :-) But that name for the officiant sounds a little fishy… What to eat at Taco Bell - honestly nothing if you respect yourself, but if the alcohol level’s high enough… I don’t know where in the LA area you are, but I hope you’re all safe from the fires there.
I wonder why you wore sandals everywhere. Probably doesn't hurt to keep a pair of shoes in the backpack. You could even hang them on your bike during the ride.
Chúc sức khỏe, hạnh phúc và bình an.
