I appreciate how you get right to it. No 20 minute intro with lots of blah-blah-blah. Thank you, sir!

Today I successfully changed the motor/regulator on my wife’s 2012 Forester. Her driver’s side window was stuck and it was driving her crazy. Subaru dealership wanted $600 to do the job. She was very impressed that I did it myself, and I was just rewarded by her in the best kind of way all thanks to this video. Thank you!

I didn't have a wrench on hand and the socket was too wide to get in there while it was stuck in the up position. If you cut the cables though, nothing is holding the window up anymore. Thanks for this video. Helped me out a bunch.
Also my 2013 forester plastic crumbled in a few areas heads up.

This was the most helpful video that I could find for 2011 forester front drivers side window motor and regulator assembly part# 751340. My window was stuck up and without the bending of the tabs technique I would have had a longer fight.

Smart, efficient diagnostics. I've never removed one of those that was stuck in the up position, not easy.

Good job. You crack me up with those intros and exits.

Just helped my son replace the entire driver door motor/regulator assembly - 2013 Subaru Legacy. Somehow the cable got all buggered up at the point it winds around the plastic motor spool/winder. Following your method here, it wasn't too complicated - we even used the "painter's tape trick" to hold up the window! Got the replacement from O'Reilly Auto Parts... same brand as you got. OUCH!! Quite a bit north of $200!!
What sucks is he had it "repaired" under extended warranty last year. There was NO repair... looks like they took it apart and didn't even bother to properly reinstall the plastic vapor barrier... which could have been why the cable was boogered up. It was sticking to the window inside the door. I taped it back into place with black Gorilla tape. If you want something done CORRECTLY... do it yourself! THANKS for the informative video... really helped us!

I've got a couple of small suction dent pullers I put them on the window and they hold it up and won't let go until you release them I think I picked them up at Wal-Mart for 6 bucks

Good idea. I've heard of that before. Getting one is in the back of my mind somewhere.

Mine problem is in the driver side. Also the window is stuck in closed position. According to what I saw, I will need also to remove the window in order to replace the mechanism.

My motor assembly on a 2014 has 6 pins on it, how do you know which 2 pins to test?
Did yours have less than that?

@@alchemista2 the motor its self should have 2 wires going to it.

@@RustBeltAuto thanks, it looks like they changed that significantly on the 2014 then, there are 6 pins there. I was able to find which 2 pins controlled motor power watching another video, thanks.

For a second there I thought I could do this by myself to all 4 of my doors😵‍💫 but now I’m just wondering how much it’ll cost to get a professional to do it hahaha

What makes you believe you need all 4 window regulators?

@@RustBeltAuto well I’m not sure exactly what it is. The driver side window is wiggly and stutters when I lower and raise it. The same thing is slowly happening to the other 3 windows on the other 3 doors.
