Strong Storm (Confirmed Tornadic) Bellevue, NE (6/16/2017) Part 1

    I consider myself a "safe distance" storm chaser. Please do not put yourself in danger like this. Weather has been a big part of my life as this was shot with shelter seconds away.
    This was taken as the storm advanced on my position. This location was about one block north of Leonard Lawrence Elementary in between the two confirmed tornado development paths that hit Hyda Hills and Offutt AFB.

    Damm u can hear the constant rumble if u got headphones on and I've never never seen lightning like that in any storm I've chased... Wow

      Yeah I was surprised that my phone was able to capture it. Sounded like some distant battle raging on.

    This was a scary day. I live in papillion and my dads coworker lost a house in bellevue.

    I’m guessing the velocity of the winds from the tornado outskirts were 70 - 75 mph.

      Anywhere between 100 and 120

    At around the 8:00 mark, I hear tornado sirens of a different tone, that are farther away. Are they from an adjoining city or AFB?

      Yes, those were the base sirens.

    So was there a tornado in sight or was it the strong high winds that caused the sirens to go off?

      Lacy Shanks this was the high winds in our neighborhood that was in between the two confirmed tornadoes. The tornadoes, I think, were less than a mile apart and we were right in the middle.

    Two blocks from my house in two springs where we also got hit, but ain't rich like Hyde hills so no one cares lol
