This is the path my granis walked when trying to run away from the communist Chinese 75 years ago. Two uncles died falling off cliffs and grandma died in Bombay in one of the hospitals after getting sick because of the harsh trip.

You are lucky! I went there on May2017 and the new law just launch, foreighner tourist must go with local guide only.
I feel very fortunate to have been to many places.
I don't think that's the case or maybe it's temporary, many youtubers went to the place alone without any tour guide, such as this German youtuber named Jojo Aigner

Why don't you describe what it was you were eating? I would surely like to know about the food of the region.
the opening shot is a type of samosa. They vary in quality throughout the region. Some are delicious! The ones we had at this particular stop the meat was not too good, I ended up spitting out some of it. They are filled with mutton. At about 4:43 we found a Pakistani restaurant that was amazing! We ate there a number of times, curry type dishes. There is also Uiqhur food and Chinese food around town. Thanks for watching!

And it's near the Pakistani border -- Not "the Pakistan border" or "the Pakistan border".
In the description, you mentioned Pakistani and Pakistani food --- There was neither Pakistani people shown in the video, nor Pakistani restaurants. By just saying the food you were eating was "Pakistani food" is not proof that it was Pakistani. There should be shot of the signage for the restaurant -- as proof that is a Pakistani.
Lovely photography! Lucky you, to have personally experienced the awe-inspiring scenery and breath-taking views (not to mention the breathtaking cold!). The food is pure Pakistani. The bread is called paratha, the dark dish is called Nihari (the Pakistani national dish, made with beef. See th-cam.com/video/6MkL2NFq34Q/w-d-xo.html), and the lighter two dishes were either Gosht ka salaan or Alu gosht ka salaan (translated to either Meat dish or Potato & meat dish respectively, which is usually made with either goat or lamb).
