As an older sibling who does that...no. It is not. We big sibs view 'smarter' and 'less dumb' on different levels. Think of it as intelligence and wisdom. Intelligence is book smarts, which we consider 'smarter' and wisdom is street smarts which means 'less dumb'. By hitting our little siblings, we are giving them experience on which is annoying and which is not. Being less annoying can save you from embarrassing situations later, which us, as the seniors, already have been through.
