It's a shame really, I think this is one of the slimmest players Sony made. Maybe the laser and sled mech from the dead player would work in this one? Great video TI. Nice player though.
Do you take donations for MiniDisc recorders? I have a silver MZ-N505 that has lots of problems (faulty AUX port, eject mechanism doesn't work, makes weird sounds when reading discs, etc). I have two other fully functional recorders, so I don't really need it. I would try fixing it myself, but I don't feel comfortable attempting it. Maybe you'd be able to use it for a video?
hello @fabiancouture2590! I could definitely take a shot at it - I'm in the US so depending on where you live, shipping could be expensive! If you'd like, please DM me on my Instagram or Reddit (u/Technicalinitiative)
@@TechnicalInitiative I look forward to continuing your video on TH-cam.🙂 What oil will you use? You have to be careful with oil! There is oil that corrodes plastic gears.⚠
Good question @sergeyko-ris6264 - do you have a recommendation? I've heard many people recommend sewing machine oil. At the moment, I only have white lithium grease as I'm packing up some things for a move.

Thank you! It really is a beauty and I think that the sled motor will be the next thing to attack!

You need to lubricate the axis of the motor that moves the carriage: th-cam.com/video/Dkd5qN1E6Yo/w-d-xo.html
Greetings from Russia! 😉
Thank you! I think you're right and that will be my next step for sure!
