yeah i don't like mini sessions it's bad for the clients (even if they don't realize it). They get a sub part product to what their kids and themselves deserve. And it's not possible to turn back time. Those moments are lost forever if they are not given the "time to capture" they deserve.
sure some wont do a session at all if they have to get a full one but i think clients should always do full ones, that time is simply needed to really capture them and their family.

I agree entirely with you @ForTheLoveofMusicAndPeople. I tried a mini-session last year and did not have the best experience. It was time-consuming, and I had little time to capture the photos I wanted at the end, I was struggling to edit so many pictures from the mini-session so I could deliver them on time to clients. I think mini-sessions may be for some, but I do not think they are for me.

I don’t think it’s bad for the clients at all! In fact, tons of my clients much prefer minis over full sessions. The product isn’t sub-par. They get a great, diverse gallery of excellent photos that captures their family in that season. Most of my families book multiple minis throughout the year.
I don’t need a full session to capture memories for a family. I snap quick and have an intentional posing workflow to make sure we get all the shots I want in our time! 😊

@@RebeccaRiceEducation How can a 15 minute session possibly be in the same universe as diverse as a full 2-3 hour session? You can't even run to different spots in that time. Its literally physically impossible to deliver the same quality of story and memories to the clients.
Not even talking about the fact how most people really only start to get comfortable in front of the lens after shooting for a decent while and n 15 minutes you can't give them a personalized experience or any experience at all for that matter, it's more like a factory with the clients on a fast assembly line.
Those 3 things is why i don't see how mini sessions give clients the same value as full sessions.
The way i see it, and the way a lot of people see it is mini sessions = making as much money in as little time as possible, its all about the money at the cost of quality and a lack of personalized experience. i am still baffled by the fact that so many people buy mini sessions. I just don't get it.
I get it your entire business evolves around making tons of money but its just not the best for the clients and sadly/strangely a lot of clients don't realise what they could be getting instead.
There are plenty photographers out there that will shoot for several hours at the same price that some people charge for mini sessions.

Your generalizing a service. Maybe you have seen minis run the way you’re explains but I can tell you this is absolutely not what Rebecca offers as a photographer or teaches. I do very well with minis and the people who have booked them often become repeat clients. They love the experience, which does begin at the time of going live with my minis. I always get positive feedback and I even send a experience guide to still help with outfits and to prepare. There is a market for both. Not cool to downgrade someone’s style just because it doesn’t work for you. Toddlers have a short attention span as do most teens and husbands. And frankly I wouldn’t want a 2 hour session. That’s what it’s great for people to have options that work best for them!

@@CourtneyBStylisteducation I offer my clients 30 minutes-4 hour sessions all for the same fixed price and they decide how long they need me. but 15 minutes can't possibly deliver the same variety and quality to the client as something hours long.
In a lot of cases running it as a business first exactly is the problem. Photography should be about creating art and delivering the best possible images, its not to make more money in a shorter amount of time.
I get it some of you want to be full time photographers and want to make your entire living from photography. But in reality as a artist that goes at the cost of the clients , its just not viable to deliver the same quality of images because you have to shoot too many images too quickly to properly retouch them and give the creation process enough time.
