If You would have reverse the discs from the shots you took they both would be great. Can't compare discs if you don't give them the same flight path. Your first throw you through too late your second throw you through too early.
Fair point. I tried to throw a flip to flat, Mako3, then a baby anhyzer with the Roc3, so they weren't the same lines. I was more trying to compare the 2 different shot shapes, and open it up to you all to see your perspectives on a sloped green like this.
They’re both great discs in their own perspectives, I found myself leaning roc 3 tho as it is a more versatile disc which allows you to hit basically any angle while still getting those straight shots to fall
On a slope like that I would assume the ideal landing would be the mako on a slight turnover matching the slope so it doesn't chance a roll away. Landing a hyzer onto a slope tends to skip then stand up and roll
The ideal landing is always flat to the hill, but the choice of disc and shot type changes based on the conditions. The trick is to align the shot that needs to be thrown with one you have practiced.
Love this. I always think about " what is the shot that lands flat to the gradient and also shapes correctly. Really helps to be well versed backhand and forehand
I've seen too many weird kicks or ground play turn a fading disc into a roller so I'd pick mako3 every time. If the approach lands on a slight turn it will match the slope of the hill better which means less risk of roll aways.

You dont want the disc to fade back towards the hill. By doing that, you increase the potential for roll aways because the disc will always want to skip up on edge. The proper way to do it is to match the angle of the ground with anhyzer angle and aim above the basket so that the disc just skids down towards the basket. Landing your disc in that manner nearl eliminates any chance of roll aways or weird ground play.
Very fair point! You want the disc to land as flat as possible while still slowing down to avoid overshooting the basket. With an overstable disc, you’ll have to add a bit more anyhyzer angle so that when it does hit the ground, it’s matching the angle of the hill. Thanks for the input.

Probably going Roc3 on this hole because a low hard throw with a Mako3 isn't coming back and will drift down that hill. Roc3 I'm just making sure I land right side of the basket for an uphill putt.
The funny and sad part is, i can't take my glow champion roc3, dx rocx3 and a kc pro roc away from my bag. It ANNOYS me, because i would love to have more drivers to try at a time, but i'm very obsessive with my discs, and I got a few md3's in the bag for the feel. And 5 zones because of the feel xD. I hate myself btw
@@disc-golf I mean that's what I do, but feel of the disc is the most important to me, as my hands have some very sensitive spots thanks to work, and those parts are where the discs usually touch. So the discs rim feel helps with that a lot
Yeah I think Envy is the way to go. It’s hard to tell in the video but the back side of the green is a lot steeper than the right side. Ideal position is to finish just short of the basket into the hill and have a 15 footer, but of course, that’s not always gonna happen!
Just throw a slightly stable putter straight at it. It will fade into the hill slightly and will have less risk of going past the basket and down the hill it also won't skip. It is a little harder with the lower ceiling, but I think the ceiling you have here is manageable.
Yeah, I think that's the play here honestly! I've got another video throwing a Dart and a Nova on this same hole. I think a 2-3 speed is probably the way to go here.
I throw a 180g star Mako. I call it my 'lead plate'. Its surprisingly a tad overstable. Its gna take a LONG time to break it in, feels like a solid as hell mold to me. My wife throws a gstar mako in ligher weight. Its definitely flippy.
Don't have a Mako3, but my Glow Mako hyzer flips whenever I put any power behind it. I use it as my putter and will drain from 50 ft out all day🧡 Chang-a-lang! 🧡
My natural release angle has a bit of hyzer, so I'm more consistent throwing a straight flying disc like the Mako 3 and letting it glide straight. My misses with an anhyzer release can be BIG, so that's something I'm working on getting more consistent with. There are basically 2 ways to throw a straight shot, but the flex shot can help with the way the disc comes into the green, as seen in this video. Thanks for the question, dude! haha
Take a long reach back w/ a flat release with the mako or the truth and you'll get a straight 300ft'er every time. Just reach back and keep it all flat while way through

It could partially be the disc actually. Are you throwing fairly flat and level to the ground? Disc stabilities can vary a decent amount. Have you tried any other middrange discs that have a turn of -1 or -2 though? Like the Innova Wombat?

Yeah you make a good point here. My goal with the Roc3 flex shot was to have it finish fairly flat and slow so that it stops quickly and reduces it's chance of rolling off the steeper backside.
Sometimes I struggle between showing authenticity, including the good AND bad/not so good shots and trying to edit out the fluff and just focus on the highlights. I see your point though, in this video, the objective is to show a straight flight so it makes sense to throw it a few times and showcase that shot. But I also like to show the fact that none of us are perfect and disc golf is a game of misses.

The mako 3 is the disc that taught me how to hyzer flip. Its the straightest disc ive thrown and really earned its flight numbers. The Roc 3 has always felt weird in my hands. I basically only use it for crazy turnover shots around trees but its very dependable for that because its stability makes it hard to cut into a roller.

He started doing the same thing and it took him like 3-4 years of straight GRINDDDDD to even remotely catch on as a dg content creator. You have so many >900 rated chuckle fucks out here making videos that literally no one cares about only getting support from other mediocre chuckle fucks that also suck at the game. They literally band together and try to gas light anyone that correctly tells them they have no business trying to make disc golf content when they cant play the game at a basic level.

Star Roc3 and Champion Boss are my 2 favorite discs. Roc3 rarely does me dirty.

Glow Champion RocX3 would have been my choice, not too over stable. Rim shape and flight nearly identical to a Z Buzzz
My metal flake roc3, if you throw it on a small hyzer it flips up and goes straight for 400 feet
