I'm actually happy with how much you use wire feed on this channel. People get caught up with the badass stickwelding or the sexy TIG welds, but y'know what? So much of our world is built with wire feed. It's not the most glamorous welding, but it holds the world together.
This is your channel! You do what’s best for you! I’m a welder 👨🏭! And Fantastic job! Welds looks great!good penetration! You’re very skilled in your trade! Thanks! As always for letting us to come along! 👌👍
I think videos like this should be shown in schools for students with an interest. Maybe no college degree but such a nice satisfaction in the artistic process being able to say I made that my job is hard and sometimes difficult but it’s very rewarding when you done and proud of yourself
Another Awesome video Sir 😃👍👍 I have welded countless items with a Millermatic 140 at work ( short circuit MIG ) and I have had absolutely not one problem with it , there are “ welders” and then there are WELDERS lol , You Sir are the latter. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and expertise with us fans , I’ve learned a heck of a lot from You and IC weld for sure
Wow I’m surprised that the draw bar material is so thin 😮. I would have thought it would need to be a lot thicker material to handle the stresses of towing a big heavy loaded trailer. Once again you did an awesome job and don’t be concerned about what some keyboard experts have to say, this is your business and this is the way you do it. Keep up the good work. Love the videos. 👍👍😁😁🇦🇺🇦🇺
The material doesn’t have to be very thick because it is for pulling stress only. The brakes hold it back and unless they did as they had there isn’t any twisting on the drawbar. But yes it always amazes me when i have to rebuild something and the hardest part for me is to not overbuild something as to move the stresses to another component.
I call it a Trailer tongue . Great job boss .brings back memories. Thanks for sharing . I used to fix all of tri counties bottom dump trailers in the 80s reskin the trailers fix the the trailer tongues and also weld new Pendell hitches on the tongues also weld up the cracks in the main frames right above the hoppers and then add fish plates. I had my own truck like you and my company name was heavy equipment welding . Mike Mayfield. I also worked for big contractors like Random construction,ACI const . Sukut const . Chaparral const and R&H paving here in California.
So nice to learn a different way of doing something. You would not have these types of repeat customers if "your way" didn't work. Thanks for showing another way to skin the cat!
1:21 It's really nice to have a customer/company who supportive with every decision we made to repair on their unit, as long as they back to service as soon as possible, and not break again anytime soon
If any TH-cam armchair expert, wanna sit there and try and second guess you’re welding technique. I guess they have nothing better to do than to be petty. I’ve just stumbled across your channel but I’ve been watching several of your videos, and from what I can see all of your work is top quality.
DUDE !! But those welds !!!!! Incredible bit of engineering on the fly. Just have to say you have crazy mad skills and I could watch your videos all day .... Thanks for sharing your life here
You don't understand how things work in the business world. They can spend a few dollars on a temporary repair that made last year. Spend a few dollars more and do the same. Or you can take thing out of service and lose thousands of dollars per hour. Which one sounds more business sense
I admire your confidence and LOVE the way you preemptively tell everyone that you’re “sure you’ll get comments but this is how you do it” because you know that’s exactly what will happen. I’m a new welder, still working towards my certification but I’m old enough to know (I’m 50 years old - recent welding school graduate) and recognize competence and a truly talented individual when I see one. You are absolutely a master at what you do. You are everything I aspire to be as a welder; confidence and competence included!
When repairing trailer tow arms our company will also weld in 2 or 3 - 1;/4" steal diamond plates between the first, second and third support pipes. Never to be seen again when it leaves our shop. 😎😎👍👍
Great job and pride in what you do. Do what works for you. What works for others may not work for you. I like short arc mig a lot myself. I just bought the Miller 211. Use at home or off of my Miller Pipepro.
I enjoy watching your work and craftmanship. I am like you and not with the sheep on procedures. Been welding for fifty plus years and am confident with my work.
It’s all 70,000 pound wire, as long as you got enough heat you won’t have a problem, it’s all mild steel anyway, it’s basically a giant towbar, If you worked for me I wouldn’t have a problem with how you did it ,completely satisfactory as far as I am concerned anyway ,we enjoy your channel thank you for your efforts and taking the time to video for us
I know this post is getting a bit old but ignore the many "back seat drivers" who tell you what you should have done. There are always borderline trolls ready to tell you that you are doing something wrong "because we did it xxx way in the 'Navy' (insert whatever there)" or that you should cut everything with a cold chisel and forge weld it all because that's the way their Grandfather did it back in the old days and his stuff didn't break. Never let those goofy know-it-alls get under our skin. Your videos are always excellent--it's nice to see how others approach fabrication projects.
I ran exactly 1 bead of stick weld back in the day and it was the most butt ugly thing you've ever seen. Since then I will leave welding to the pro's. I really appreciate your fabrication skills and attention to detail. Impressive to say the least!
You are certainly a craftsman. That said, I have to wonder what the owner of that beautiful red truck thought about all the white overspray all over it 🤣
Probably would have been less work/hassle to just make the airline carrier stuff from scratch & have left the old ones where they were. Hindsight is always brilliant. :-) Everyone's a genius after the fact. :-) Lovely work as always.
I was sitting here thinking "Hmm, that must be powder coating that close to that semi, that's awesome. Never seen that before." and then it slowly dawned on me that it was paint...
no one has a right to tell you your responsibility when it comes to welding ANYTHING!!! i have seen enough of your welding to know how very good your work is good job!!!
You are a skilled craftsman who has worked hard to perfect what your customers request. Don't pay attention to the "Keyboard Cowboys" who are trying to tell you how to do in your trade. They do not have your experience or any idea about the specific needs of the equipment you work on. Keep up the good work.
The Milwaukee tools are freaken awesome i have many and every time i use them they impress me! i have that same deep cut band saw and it cuts like butter!
Not yellow paint? What?! 😉 It’s a relief to see that even pros like you have projects that don’t just cooperate with them right off the bat. Seems like all my projects take 4x as long as I would have guessed at the beginning, but then I’m an amateur around the home DIYer, hehe.
Tongue- is what I was told when I started driving them in ‘70. Not designed to be a lever or stop. Mirror usage will prevent damage. But makes you poorer. Job security!
Hard wire mig is just fine, so long as your weld puddle stays shielded. Dual shield should be reserved for high deposition welds and thicker material. Black Dog Welding
Great job. One of my favorite things, is you go about your job without the huge pissing and moaning that I've grown so accustomed to hearing. Thank you for that.
Another great "keep'em running" job accomplished when many guys were already at home with their folks or propping up a bar. Keep on keeping on and I'll keep watching. Bit of info on the welder settings would be great to see for us rank amateurs!
27:25 A stud welder. Use them on ships all over the place wire runs and everything else hanging from overheads. Also, pin welders for installing sound barrier and heat barrier insulation. Nice billable work.
Took an intro to welding course in the 10th grade. Been running semi's since I was 20. I always thought those pup dumps were neat. And I can a test they pull great if the dolly is good and straight. If not. It'll wag the tail and that's not good. And those was freight van short. Not the long drawbar style like those.
I learn something every video I ALWAYS like and comment on your videos the second they come up, so maybe the algorithm will get even more people to watch and see, this is i.m.o the best heavy spec weld/fab channel on any platform it is up there beside CCE and Icweld we really appreciate the content so much that you are the reason I check TH-cam at work to see if your little logo on my prescriptions has a red dot beside it or I got a notification!
I agree Issac & Kurtis do the same kind of work just different. All 3 are interesting. I grew up on a farm & we had to be able to make repairs. Sometimes just knowing what needs to be done is 1/2 the battle
You do great work...I know how you feel fixing junk bad design.but hey job security..drivers are like operators. They will break it...30 years of babysitting..believe me I know how it goes..keep up the great work
Next thing you know CARB is going to say no more welding outside. You'll have to put up something and filter the air. California is a little whacko sometimes.
Use whatever you're comfortable and confident will work armchair welders will always criticize even though they've never picked up a welding gun in their lives I'm a welder and encouter their kind all the time don't frett you did a perfectly good job

So nice to learn a different way of doing something. You would not have these types of repeat customers if "your way" didn't work.

In Australia it’s called a draw bar. Man it’s light materials for what it’s gotta do . Great job , love your vids .
1:21 It's really nice to have a customer/company who supportive with every decision we made to repair on their unit, as long as they back to service as soon as possible, and not break again anytime soon
Awesome job! I'm no structural engineer but that factory trailer "tongue" looks way undersized!
If any TH-cam armchair expert, wanna sit there and try and second guess you’re welding technique. I guess they have nothing better to do than to be petty. I’ve just stumbled across your channel but I’ve been watching several of your videos, and from what I can see all of your work is top quality.
The amount of pride you take in your work, it inspires me brother.
Love your videos, love your craftsmanship. You are a rarity in today's age...
The draw bars we have here in Australia are a lot more solid than that flimsy looking draw bar😂😂
Geez, I hope there's no overspray on that nice new red Mack...
You sure have some awesome tools and do a amazing job I enjoy watch just to see you repair things and explain it makes sence to me👍
DUDE !! But those welds !!!!! Incredible bit of engineering on the fly. Just have to say you have crazy mad skills and I could watch your videos all day .... Thanks for sharing your life here
Brother, there are armchair welders who always think they know more, true welders and fabricators do what works for them, great job.
Issac always says that the way he does things might not be the way to do it but it’s the way he does it
I love it when they repair the same spot over and over and over again like something different is going to happen.
You don't understand how things work in the business world. They can spend a few dollars on a temporary repair that made last year. Spend a few dollars more and do the same. Or you can take thing out of service and lose thousands of dollars per hour. Which one sounds more business sense
@@donraptor6156the temporary repair by far, over and over and over and over, makes the most sense.

Thank you!
@@OFW you’re welcome 🙂. It’s well deserved.
With every one of your videos, I learn something. Thank you for that.
Bent drawbar between two units? Surely that will be out of alignment from a straight drawbar.
When repairing trailer tow arms our company will also weld in 2 or 3 - 1;/4" steal diamond plates between the first, second and third support pipes. Never to be seen again when it leaves our shop. 😎😎👍👍
I think a big reason it was originally failing was because they jackknife it multiple times a day. I will definitely be doing this job again.
@@OFW A rotating income. 4 sure. 👍👍
ain't nothing wrong with short arc I love running it... always holds up just fine like you said
Great job and pride in what you do. Do what works for you. What works for others may not work for you. I like short arc mig a lot myself. I just bought the Miller 211. Use at home or off of my Miller Pipepro.

It seems to me you are an expert. You shouldn't give a crap about what anyone thinks of your choice of wire, machine, or welding method. You da man.

You are certainly a craftsman. That said, I have to wonder what the owner of that beautiful red truck thought about all the white overspray all over it 🤣
One of the best welders \fabricators on youtube
Very nice!! Keep em coming! Looking forward to part 3 of the Conveyor finale.
Probably would have been less work/hassle to just make the airline carrier stuff from scratch & have left the old ones where they were. Hindsight is always brilliant. :-) Everyone's a genius after the fact. :-) Lovely work as always.
Always loved overspray on my red truck !
I was sitting here thinking "Hmm, that must be powder coating that close to that semi, that's awesome. Never seen that before." and then it slowly dawned on me that it was paint...
It was no secret that repair was being done. Whoever parked the truck there… That’s on them
Parked it in the right place , huh ...............
Thought the same...
I’m pretty sure the company new they where having this repaired, and should have told the driver to not park there, that’s on the company!
I agree, I believe replacing over repair would feel safer!
With you on the short circuit. We use it all the time no problems.
no one has a right to tell you your responsibility when it comes to welding ANYTHING!!! i have seen enough of your welding to know how very good your work is good job!!!

Great video bossman very helpful and very good fabrication. All you need is a fabrication table to eliminate your back and stay in one position 👍
Amazing that it was cheaper to have an upgraded unit fabricated in field than to simply drop in a new OEM unit.
Nice work!
That new oem unit might have ben 2 weeks away.
Here in the UK "draw bar" is what I would call it . Nice work
Haters will Hate exactly do what you do, love your work. I would have used same process!!
The Milwaukee tools are freaken awesome i have many and every time i use them they impress me! i have that same deep cut band saw and it cuts like butter!
Nice job. Those A frames terrify me, they are so flimsy, and often pulling 40 tonnes.
Great video I watch every upload! Every video is entertaining and I always learn something!
Awesome job ladies and gentlemen 💪💪💪💪
Not yellow paint? What?! 😉

I like the way you do things makes me feel like I’m a better welder by watching you great videos
Naaaaaaice Work Dude >> Did that kinda thing on Irvin & Johnston Fishing Vessels !
That 211 is a good little machine.
I'm curious to know how much of that white paint overspray did you get on that red truck that was right beside where you were painting
Nothing. The truck looks a lot closer than it actually was.
I was thinking the same 🙂
In South Africa we call it an A-Frame
We call it a tongue. 3/8 inch wall thickness. Pearidgefarmer says. When in doubt make it stout! Thanks for your time. Pete in South Carolina
Like the videos and the Milwaukee tools are great I treat mine rough but they last.
Hard wire mig is just fine, so long as your weld puddle stays shielded. Dual shield should be reserved for high deposition welds and thicker material. Black Dog Welding
Brand new tow bar, sweet. Can tell you take pride in your job, hard to find.
Beat that new red tractor got a dusting of white paint all over.
Wow! Some quality beadwork there Bud. 👍🏻
Spraying a rattle can by flashlight rolling in the dirt. What devotion!
So the trailers certainly weren't tracking with a bent tongue, did you line them up perfectly before building the tongue between them?
The tongue was tacked together then squared up. So yes it’s straight.
I give it a AAA+ rating, excellent job, thank you for sharing. 👍👍👍
Great job. One of my favorite things, is you go about your job without the huge pissing and moaning that I've grown so accustomed to hearing. Thank you for that.
I'm not a mechanic, but paint furnitures.
Humble advice, use mask when you paint now you're young, better for your lungs.
Thnaks to upload this video.
Something a lot of people don't know is almost all equipment manufacturing is done with MIG. Stick is way too slow for factories to use.
You need some V blocks to clamp to round stock. You can even make some wood ones to get you by.
Another great "keep'em running" job accomplished when many guys were already at home with their folks or propping up a bar. Keep on keeping on and I'll keep watching. Bit of info on the welder settings would be great to see for us rank amateurs!
Looks really awesome!!!
Yes there are always arm chair experts. Looks like a good repair job to me. It will last till the driver f's it up again.
How much white paint got on that red truck?
Like the videos, that tow bar is a lot stronger then what was on there
27:25 A stud welder. Use them on ships all over the place wire runs and everything else hanging from overheads. Also, pin welders for installing sound barrier and heat barrier insulation. Nice billable work.
That existing drawbar looked frail; I'm surprised it lasted five minutes.
Very clean work enjoy the videos man
So Much for that red trucks looking new with white overspray on it now!😮
Awesome work once again!!!!
I mig weld. That weld process is just fine for what you are doing.
Great job! Thanks for sharing!

I have been around alot of welder's yours looked good considering the drivers will screw them up again

Was this an afternoon after the truck was parked or Sunday project so they could keep hauling?
I’d like to see how you get your truck laid out what kind of welding set up you have I do see that it is a very nice truck Great videos and great job
lovely job them welds perfect
Sometimes you move really fast for a big guy.
Freaking awesome! Outstanding filming. Thanks. Guy laying on his back spray painting while holding a flashlight. This ain’t work for wimps.
Best welding channel.
Not going to say anything about your choice of welding but you really should have color matched the paint.👍😉 good job.
This is not "how to"! This is How I Do! IC Weld
Save your advice. Ive been here before. 😆 🤣
Those welds look fine I too am a welder, flux core hard wire done right same strength.
You do great work...I know how you feel fixing junk bad design.but hey job security..drivers are like operators. They will break it...30 years of babysitting..believe me I know how it goes..keep up the great work
Wouldn’t worry at all bout what other people think I know for certain they short circuit mig it from factory nice job
Next thing you know CARB is going to say no more welding outside. You'll have to put up something and filter the air. California is a little whacko sometimes.
Great job thank you 👍👍👍👍
