I just came back from El Chalten but didn't do this. I really want to see the ice field, it looks incredible! I wish I could go back now. Thanks for the awesome video!
@@theworldhiker1 me too. It was my 2nd time actually but I normally only do day hikes. This circuit is a must though. I have to return for it with proper camping gear. For you, safe travels wherever you will go next!
I crossed both of the water crossings by foot and man was that water cold, and dangerous. Definitely good idea to take a harness. I agree, this loop doesn't get the recognition it deserves.
Please correct me if I'm wrong: you went from El Chalten to the Lago Viedma in one day (going to Paso del Viento, passing by the hut, then doing Paso Huemul)?!! That is a lot and very impressive man. I know there are multiple people who have trailed runned this trek in one single day, but it still baffles me b/c those are really long miles with the elevation. It takes a lot of fitness to do that. I went from the hut to El Chalten in one day and I thought that was a lot (36km/22 miles).
Yes that is correct. It was a really big first day and very doable second day. We wanted to camp next to the water where it would be warmer so that was how we split it up.
Awesome man! A few questions. Did you fly to Punta Arenas? How long did it take to cross the border? Wasn't it difficult to drive a car? Was the parking free at Torres del Paine? Didn't you hike Fitz Roy while you staying in El Chalten?
Hey! Yes we flew to Punta Arenas and rented a car. Parking was free at Torres del Paine. We did hike to Laguna de los 3 from El Chalten which is the most popular hike in the area I believe. The border crossings took 15 minutes at one border and then 3 hours at another border.
@@reiddickson Attach the harness main loop directly to the pulley with one carabiner. As a backup, attach another carabiner directly to the steel cable and connect it to the harness with a climbing sling. It's also recommended to attach your backpack to the carabiner that goes into the steel cable, rather than carrying it.

You are most welcome. Glad you could visit El Chalten!

I'm glad you were able to do the loop and enjoyed it as well. Absolutely beautiful route!
Everyone needs this kind of trip right now.
Amen!
You always inspire me, Brian! Although I think I will pass this circuit. Much as I am excited about it, my knees and paunch think otherwise... haha
Hehe...glad the hike could inspire you! Hope you are doing well.
Amazing ❤👏👏
Thanks 😄

@@YongsungKim The Monte Aymond border took 3 hours...no way to avoid it if you need to cross this border...which you may not
@@theworldhiker1 Is the border between Torres del Paine and El Chalten called Paso Río Don Guillermo? Did it take only 15 minutes?
Completely wrong zip line setup.
😂they made it didn’t they?
Completely wrong zip line setup. cant believe you went so ill informed. if that was your guide it is even more troubling.
Do you have an explanation or video showing the proper method?
