    I always feel that when a piece is distressed the final product should look like it has a story to tell - giving you the ability to imagine the hands that have touched it and the places it has been. You succeeded beautifully in achieving this with the chest. Love it!

    I make envelope pillow covers quite often and I find it easier to use just one piece of fabric rather than cutting three. It’s so much easier.

    • @TheLatinaNextDoor
      @TheLatinaNextDoor  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have done that in the past also, but I have learned that cutting 3 pieces gives me sharper edges on the cushion so I started doing it that way instead. It’s just a matter of preference 😁

    That cork wreath is so pretty and you obviously have a lot of patience doing the wreath and the chest and they both turned out beautiful. I also loved the Hobby Lobby pieces, they are ornate and distressed so well. Always look forward to your videos Yami.

    All of your projects turned out beautiful, however, the chest is stunning! I have a hutch that I want to paint but I don't want white, at least I don't think I do. It needs a makeover, but I'm scared I will mess it up. My Dad bought it for my Mom a long time ago and he has since passed. Needless to say, it has special meaning to me.

    I enjoyed each one of your projects. My favorite was the box. I have some things I need to repaint and I’ll keep your tips on hand because I really like what you did with it.
    I forget about that technique in making pillows. I used to make mine that way. I haven’t made any on a while. I’ve made them on a continuous piece and made them with seams. I think different fabrics may call for one way or the other. Many times I feel it helps hold its shape with the seam across the top and bottom. Either way you’ve given us lots of inspiration today. Thank you!

    Your extremely talented and I live your work. I especially like how you take things to that next level. The box is beautiful, but I feel like it's still missing something. Not sure what else could be done. Just kind of feels like it needs something french. That's the vibe I get from it.

    I think you nailed the weathered wood look on the treasure chest. It’s not my jam, but you executed it very well. I’m sure you would make a larger piece look fantastic. Love the cork wreath (someone likes Barefoot wine 😝). I think I’ll make one for the front door for our next wine tasting dinner.
    By the way, I received my Egyptian Amber candle and it is heavenly 😍🥰 Thanks so much and I look forward to seeing what’s next. Be well! 💕

    Yami, girl... give yourself some grace! That chest came out absolutely breathtaking 😍 I started my whole DIY journey with refinishing furniture. I did that and that only for several years straight and I loved being a furniture artist. You are right in some aspects. The finish you achieved would look absolutely stellar on a large piece of furniture. Plus, there are a lot of "furniture refinishers"/"furniture artists"/"furniture flippers" out there that have been going at it for years and still do not get the concepts of depth and dimension or highlights and lowlights or aging or even how to shade. The fact that you get all of those concepts and can even do them on a small piece of home decor, is astounding‼️ I picked up on the fact that you really understood how to age a piece (even if it is just like a little old candlestick lol) a while back especially when you combined your waxes with the decrepit dusts. You have a true talent that many will never achieve even after being in the industry for years. Your finish took that chest to a WHOLE new level and it came out stunning and yes that finish would also look so amazing on a large piece of furniture but who's to say it can't look amazing on both?! Girl, I think you nailed it 💯 I love how the chest turned out ❣️ I do however, think that you should do some more large pieces of furniture 😜 Utilize those God given talents Girl and let them shine ❤️💜❤️💜❤️💜

    I have seen so many things that can be made out of cork and your wreath was cute and a conversation piece. I think the wall plaques were much better painted. Velvet pillow covers...who doesn't love a bit of velvet and the blue... so nice. I think the paint technique you used on the small chest turned out well and made a vast improvement on the look of the project. I think it screams out for a stencil or appliqué but that's just me. Everything was lovely, nice work. Thank you for sharing.

    Wow! I've never seen an instruction before that made it so understandable how to put an envelope pillow cover together. Love the blue velvet too, it's gorgeous. I'm not a fan of the refinished "treasure chest." I think you're right, that finish might look better on a larger piece, like a console table or coffee table. I know the washed-out all white with "natural wood" look is all the rage right now, but it's not for me. It reminds me of the period when everything was various shades of beige and the ultimate result was "meh."

    I think the chest looks great. I'd add a bit more white in a few spots to go more with your light decor, but it's really cute!!

    Everything turned out great! I can see how that treasure chest could be a challenge….but, it certainly looks cool 😎

    When you use velvet, be sure the nap of the fabric is going in the same direction or the color of the panels will not match.
