Thank you. I'm homeschooling my 4year old starting this week, I'm so scared but I know we will be just fine.

Thank you for this. My daughter is exactly the same and homeschooling was the way for us.

Most children develop in an asynchronous manner as described. It isn't fair to expect children to develop according to an imposed schedule, and this in and of itself is one of the underlying problems with institutionalised education. The notion that our young will develop according to our plans is a strange one, and has its roots in a rather contrived thinking model of victorian pomp and rigour. It's very old fashioned, and far too "Western" for our purposes. This is partly what is meant by "decolonisation" of education in Africa - the shifting sands of time have exposed the foundations of such education to be insufficient for modern children of Africa. While the Montessori method is really fantastic, its implementation is dependent on very astute teacher training where the teacher learns to become more facilitator than instructor, and this actually fits the homeschooling ethos pretty well under normal circumstances.
Socialization means to be able to hold your own in any kind of group, it doesn't mean "learning to get along whatever the price". It really is wonderful to see that mothers today realise this and debunk the typical myths on this matter by living it down.
    Well done MOM!
