awkwards stance is damage>healing but healing is more important than damage meaning that you get the most value from your damage and cooldowns (pressure on the enemy team) but the most important thing you're doing is healing. (keeping your team from dying) also a lot of what hes says is mainly meant to healbot supports who just heal all game and get ran through because the enemy has less pressure being put on them
The whole damage vs healing thing honestly should vary with your mechanical abilities.. For a guy like awkward that’s cracked out of his mind of course he’s gonna hit his shots.. So there’s really no risk of potential wasted value by him DPS’ing.. But for your average gold player that will hit half or less the amount of shots awkward hits it’s definitely better to just keep your teammates alive while getting damage off where you can comfortably..

There are almost unwinnable games for everyone but he does mention healing being an essential part of Baps gameplay.
So many support players feel that healing is inefficient or beneath them. I see it constantly on internet forums and support streamers who take offense at being called a healer. But Bap is the ONLY support hero that can damage and heal at the same time and not lose any DPS so there is NO excuse not to heal with Bap. You can literally hold down right click for free heals while shooting someone.
Zen also doesn't lose dps healing, so that's not entirely true, nor does Lucio on a lot of cases come to think, though ideally you'll be speed boosting when dpsing so I guess that's up for debate.

Awkward literally always says "Heal your teammates enough so that they don't die, then look for damage.". That order is important because if your team is healthy then you have the time to spend damaging, if your team is dying and you spend your time damaging then you're just going to get rolled. The problem is that people will healbot when their team takes chip damage, and those are the times when you should be damaging as a support. Especially on Bap where you can weave heals and damage.
If you're 5v4 damage doesn't matter as much just support your team and they will roll them, 4v5 you would look for a pick off while keeping your team up. Always think about what will bring the most value, that bap in the first game ulting to kill 5v2 killing noone and dying is so stupid. All you need to do is just play cart and heal a bit and they will die. There's times to being proactive and times to just chill, you need to know which is which
That's the thing about lower level play. It took me a while to figure this out, but 9/10 times you have to play healbot in lower levels because your team doesn't understand positioning and cover. While you should attempt to play higher level gamestyle, know your limits and team limits

These are some things that should be done by every role in the game, which is why it's bad to make statements like "supports job is to back up their team," because it's not. Every role should be backing up their team. Support just has the unique ability to also heal people, which is part of their job, but certainly not their only job.
Thing about Awkward is…he doesn’t say “Hard DPS”, he says, “Heal your team when they need healing” and “Don’t heal for the sake of it”, They don’t hear that part and just go “DPS IS GOOD”, Heal as much as your team needs, damage when your able too!
On console the double left click then right click is easy. Just hold both at the same time and it does it for you. Using his boots is a fking pain in the ass tho
Awkward doesn't want you to only use damage. He wants you to have an impact on the game with pressure and cooldowns. If you healbot, you might as well one trick Lifeweaver, as they have the highest single target healing in the game right now, but the reason why LW is not good is that their damage and cooldowns have low impact compared to other supports. Keep your team up first and formost, pocket who you think is going to get value now, or who is going to be a target in a second, and then fight for the ability economy, while using damage to force cooldowns and mistakes out of your opponents.

I actually learned this by watching vigilante and shu i saw that they had way better stats and i was strugling to have those stats bcs i was focusing too much on dpsing and missing many shots while my team was getting absolutely destroyed now i do more dmage and heal ig plying and prticing aim helped that too

The first review, that guy should honestly just queue DPS. He has the aggressive playstyle that would have more value on DPS than Support. A Support player that cannot find a balance between healing and damage shouldn't queue for Support to begin with. You can carry and deal top damage all you want but if the opposing team has the slight advantage of more consistent heals, it'll enable their Tank and DPS to do their jobs more often and therefore clutch more wins vs the team with a DPS Baptiste and a damn Brig for heals. Streets don't wanna hear it but Awkward's advice is creating bad Support players. Not saying the advice is objectively wrong but if all people take from it is "damage, damage, damage", then the message isn't getting through correctly.

They take it to extremes by either hard DPSing or healbotting. Plus reading the field is probably the most important part of being a good support.
I mean if you're damaging as brig your healing is also high as a consequence. Don't die too often pay attention to key enemies and critical allies or if your a bit smarter allies you know will die next. I can tell which ally is going to die in the next 10s and which wont so I focus the person I know will die if I don't support them. They could even be full hp but I know they're taking an aggressive angle and will soak up the damage right now
Unranked to gm is kinda bullshit, when you start a new account and win in placements and low elo, you get placed with better teammates to play in higher elos. The problem here is, a "normal account" already has some losts from the past and when you reach diamond/master, you will get placed with worse teammates who doesn't care to throw the game, sometimes even leavers.
@@phineas1112 I think even in unranked to gms they get feeding freddies and throwers, they don't have to deal with those people as much because they win most games anyway. I think U2GM is mostly useful for quickly seeing the best rotations and ways to play a character in every map. Do you know how long it would take to get that information from watching streams or regular videos. This is much more condensed and even has time stamps
Unranked to GM is not a good educational video.... Why? Because those videos are made by players who ALREADY has the mechanics. Real unranked players dont have those mechanics yet, so giving them the impression that it can be done in just a few hours is not realistic for new players.
One thing I’ve definitely noticed in “Overwatch 2” is that for whatever reason friendly players don’t respond to the killfeed as much as they used to.. Back in the day as soon as one team got the first pick in a fight everyone would just ape onto the enemy team.. Now there are so many times I get first pick on sombra or soldier and nobody even reacts to it or pushes point at all.. It’s like people are playing without their killfeed display on.. I’m in masters 2 and if it’s a problem in masters I can’t imagine how bad the awareness is in bronze.. Or maybe it’s the fact that there’s one less player now so you don’t feel the presence like you used to idk
This starts from silver to plat. In bronze players actually want to get higher rank they do eventually men I have no hope for tanks in this game everything counter tank.
Can you also mention that just because you have a gold weapon depending on you character skin choice you will stand out like a sore thumb and also having it doesn’t mean that your special and your the reason you win all the time its cool but no play correctly and win or play for yourself because you want to have high stats sorry this isn’t COD 🤦🏾♂️

I'm only a puny gold player so what the hell do I actually know, but my experience with "carrying" is that whenever I go into a match thinking that I'll carry the game, I end up losing that match and the next few matches too. But when I go into a match just to play some innocent Overwatch, I get back on the winning track. So my experience is that "carry" is a detrimental mindset. :D

Unranked to GM is not a good educational video.... Why? Because those videos are made by players who ALREADY has the mechanics. Real unranked players dont have those mechanics yet, so giving them the impression that it can be done in just a few hours is not realistic for new players.
One thing I’ve definitely noticed in “Overwatch 2” is that for whatever reason friendly players don’t respond to the killfeed as much as they used to.. Back in the day as soon as one team got the first pick in a fight everyone would just ape onto the enemy team.. Now there are so many times I get first pick on sombra or soldier and nobody even reacts to it or pushes point at all.. It’s like people are playing without their killfeed display on.. I’m in masters 2 and if it’s a problem in masters I can’t imagine how bad the awareness is in bronze.. Or maybe it’s the fact that there’s one less player now so you don’t feel the presence like you used to idk

Can you also mention that just because you have a gold weapon depending on you character skin choice you will stand out like a sore thumb and also having it doesn’t mean that your special and your the reason you win all the time its cool but no play correctly and win or play for yourself because you want to have high stats sorry this isn’t COD 🤦🏾♂️

He's masters 3 with very mediocre aim, this proves damage damage damage is good actually and climbs you to high ranks. Masters 3 is very high ranked, top 3%. Damage damage damage. This video would make more sense dunking on this guy if he was silver.
All this proves is that the matchmaking is broken, I getg plat level players that are in GM every single day.
I'm only a puny gold player so what the hell do I actually know, but my experience with "carrying" is that whenever I go into a match thinking that I'll carry the game, I end up losing that match and the next few matches too. But when I go into a match just to play some innocent Overwatch, I get back on the winning track. So my experience is that "carry" is a detrimental mindset. :D
Im watching awkwards video and in the first 5 minutes I see exactly why they play like that . Issue is ur team has to have a mercy and has to be capable to play so selfishly . But they can honestly play soldier and do the EXACT same thing with built in heals and all
i had this dps kiriko that had 720 healing because she didnt wanna heal i think she was trolling but when i asked her to heal she replied no and we lossed ;)
as a kiriko main those dps kiriko’s that don’t heal are so lost, yes healbotting is bad but you could literally carry a game with how strong kiriko’s heals are
