Really. It depends on how you are raised. For me it was more appreciation. A day where either you go out and meet up with family friends that you couldn’t do during the year and enjoy each other company ( conversation/dance or both ). Gift giving is nice.

I'm sure Amazon hide all the good stuff when the sales are on, then when prices are back to normal, you can find things again😂

I think lists are good because I end up giving away 95% of what I'm given otherwise. Awful scented candles, awful soaps, so. Many. Scarves. It's so wasteful. Things get manufactured just to be given to people we don't know very well. What other purpose do scented candles have except to use up petrol biproducts!

Christmas is food and board games and time with family and celebrating Jesus and food and finding creative gifts people will like…and food.
Edit: I usually make a lot of the gifts I give. And all year long when I see something I think is cool or I know someone will like, I buy it. I don’t need to shop much for Christmas, just pull things out of the closet and wrap them. 😂

Even for a non religious person for me, the ideas and themes of appreciation is quite cool!

Christmas is not about gifts, it’s about the birth of Jesus Christ.
The tradition of celebrating Jesus’ birthday dates back to the 4th century. With it first being recorded in 336 A.D.

You are right in principle. But American Capitalism disagrees.
