Looking at my diode laser ..thinking I should have watched more Roger Webb videos before buying! 😊
Jeez, that 30W is amazing I’m getting an 80W overkill for now but never know when you’ll need that power.
Nice
@0:51 it's mainly a matter of how the material absorbs or reflects the energy at specific wavelength. most metals are extremely reflective to 10600nm. if you're reflecting 90% of your energy you aren't going to get much done, except destroy your lenses and maybe your laser. 1064nm will easily obliterate metal but won't even scratch glass.
Reflective light is the most common problem when using reflective material, one should use some type of toner to aid in the starting procedure.
options is mat sprey paint, or blueing dye & pens or burnishing liquids.
personally i prefer Machine blueing Dye, as don't smell and easy to clean.
the colour is done by changing the freq and power setting
Way cool! Would love to know more about the types of lenses, what engraving/image sizes are possible, fiber laser types (vs. what you have), and maybe even an etching comparison on tumblers to the CO2 🤔
Thank you sir.
Most welcome
So fo firearms a 30 is fine. Need a few more passes is all. Is this statement correct
split a toothpick and use that to get in the hole and measure the toothpick that goes in
Hey roger got a pen template design for thunder? I have a nova and going to try and make one myself.
Tungsten carbide drills?
Thanks for photo
Welcome
What is the name of the second version of the fibre laser that can do colors much easily.?
MOPA. I have a 30 watt Raycus source. Mine can only go up to 80khz. to get the color, you need to go way up to 200, 300, even 600khz.Frequency is more important than power for the colors.
Raycus QS, QB ?
or JPT?
Raycus QS,
I've been paying lot to mark my parts and want to buy a fiber laser to do it on my own. Does the software nor!ally come with it or is it a separate purchase? Also I am a complete moron where computers are concerned. My marking is exclusively part numbers, lot numbers, no pictures or images
Yes!
No it’s got to do with the Co2 laser wavelength it’s the absorption do to the wavelength!! Fiber wavelength is better for metal!!
how meny Yaers life the machine Fiber Lasser?
About 100,000 hours
These fiber lasers are all open (not shielded/enclosed) I would be afraid to be in the same room even with laser goggles. Is there no danger from reflections?
I use a 20 watt and it no issue
Some of them are enclosed. I have a 30 watt. most of the time I don't wear the glasses. NOT Advised at all. WEAR YOUR PPE. LOL. Other than that and fume extraction. they are safe enough.
Of course there is a danger, do not listen to people saying it is ok I do not wear glasses and it is all good (it just need one time to get a reflected ray in the eye to get blind or having a permanent black dot at this power). Always Always enclose it when possible, wear glasses if you operate it next to you. It is hight power laser.
How does this laser cost?
In the range of $2,500+ depending on power output
