    What a bargain! I'm a CG125 fan, they are just great reliable bikes. Perfect for the amateur mechanic to learn on.

      Agreed. They’re great little bikes. So simple. We’ve really enjoyed working on this one. I’m looking forward to getting it MoT’d and adventuring this spring 👍

    If you're stressing for the availability of spare parts. You can import them from Pakistan for a very cheap price. Pakistan have 3 Honda CG125 models. First one is CG125 classic (the old one), second one is delux models (the one in the video) and third one is CB 125F (One with alloy rims and a little modernized).

    I will binge watch this turn around. 300 notes was a touch

      It’s turned in to a little bargain. I love it 😁

    Looking forward to this Playlist. I'm about to buy an old CG125 (need more raw power than my Solex which I'll keep of course) - this is a useful video series. Thanks for going to the effort of videoing and editing all these - it's way more work than people realise!
    Subscribed, Liked and Notified. Dave

      Cheers Dave! Thanks for taking the time to comment, and for subscribing etc. Hopefully the video series will be useful for you. The CG is a great bike so you should enjoy it. I always fancied a Solex though 👍🙂

    Gonna watch this playlist again :)
    Not got a cg, but I hope to try and get one this week as my first bike 😊

      Awesome! They’re a grand bike. Even if you go on to get a bigger bike in the future, there’s always a place for a 125. They’re brilliant for commuting and 90% of the time they’re more fun than a big bike anyway because you can chuck it around everywhere at full speed 😎

      Have you seen one you’re thinking of getting?

    • @scottd7470
      @scottd7470 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, but I'm waiting to see if I can get a day off work to go view it before the guy sells it. They are quite common bikes so I don't think I'll have to wait long for one for long popping up.

      Nice one. Hope it all goes well. Give us a shout if you have any CG questions 👍

      Yeah… times have changed! I was lucky with this one even before the COVID price hike. Good luck with your search 👍

    I have this exact model I think but in red. Great little bike but unfortunately I got scammed on it and didn’t realise till after my cbt… fixed a lot up on it but I think I’m gonna have get a new bike for a while as the last couple things we found issues is now exceeding the value of the bike 😂 runs tho fairly decently just wouldn’t pass its next mot.

      Sounds like a rough deal. What’s up with it? They take some killing!

    Im learning on that bike on my cbt and its alot harder to control slow turns than a 400cc bike. I dont know if I should buy that for my first bike or get something better.

    • @MechitBetter

      The CG is about as easy to ride as it gets, but whatever you get try and have a sit on it and a ride before you buy it. I suppose also it depends on what you consider to be better. There are more modern and fancier bikes for sure, but nothing will be as easy to work on and maintain as a CG 😁👍

    Hi John, Kieran.
    I’m in the process of renovating a 1981 cg125. I have found this series very useful, thanks.
    Do you know if the 4 bolts on the clutch cage have a specific torque? I have the manual but it’s eluding me.

    • @MechitBetter
      @MechitBetter  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Peter, thanks! Off the top of my head I have no idea I’m afraid. My copy of the manual is currently spending lockdown in a different place to me, so I can’t check at the minute. If you’re really keen to know, there folks on the CG125 Facebook group might be able to help you 👍

    Wich do you prefer the CG 125 or the ybr 125?

    • @MechitBetter
      @MechitBetter  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tough one. Both good bikes. Both reliable. The YBR feels a little more refined and a little bit faster. That’ll vary from bike to bike though. There’s really not much in it. If you can find a decent example of either then you’re golden 👍

    It’s funny, I just bought myself a 2004 cg. It’s in nowhere near as good a condition as yours though. I think I might have been a little bit ripped off to be honest as I keep finding more and more problems with it and I won’t even dare tell you how much I paid for it!! Hahaha

    • @MechitBetter
      @MechitBetter  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The prices went crazy last spring and they’ve stayed strong since. Sorry to hear you got a bit ripped off. Think of it as a good opportunity to practice your mechanic skills 👍👍

      @@MechitBetter I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about the bike and have decided I’m going to have a bit of fun and strip it down to the bare frame and rebuild it. I’ve got nothing to lose and a lot of fun to be gained. :)

    • @MechitBetter
      @MechitBetter  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! Absolutely. They’re as simple as it gets really and as you say, it’s all fun and learning. Good luck with it 😁

    That leaves you 10 grand to spend on beer, assuming you had not bought a triumph / BMW 290KG 'adventure bike'.

      Or 20 other £500 motorbikes 😁
