    Glad I watched this video. Went there earlier this year to kayak but stayed on the Bayou river where we rented. WE have since bought a couple of Kayaks and intended on coming back this fall but I now see our kayaks are not what is needed to make the trip you made. We use foot pedals and I can see the Salvinia would make that experience almost impossible. Still learning about Kayaks and love the idea of the Pakayak. Gonna look into that and maybe then give this lake a try. Very informative. Thank you.

    Love my Bluefin. Just a great 'yak! Small car and no problem loading it up and going. Actually had two boats in the car - the Bluefin and a Point 65 Martini (another modular that I really like). The Martini is a rec kayak, but the speed of the Bluefin ... massive difference! Great vid! Wish we had that type of waterway in Canada (prairies, so ... I gotta travel for my water fix!)

    Love the Habanero color. I need to get one of these for travel. Great for planes and checked bags. The new version 2024 is 20% lighter $1,995. So worth it

      Thank you for watching and commenting! I may actually sell mine and pick up the new 20% lighter model. I pasted some of my other adventure videos in the bluefin down below. Also, my affiliate link if you choose to purchase. That just gets me a little bit back to support my channel. Have a great week, God bless!

      @noahgolly4444 Hi - Thanks for asking! I’m going to hold now and keep using my current 142, it’s a great boat. I actually need to get some more
      videos in it! I think some day I will sell it though and get the new, lighter one.

    Thanks for sharing your Caddo Lake kayaking adventure. How does the Pakayak Bluefin 142 compare with the Sea Eagle RazorLite with regard to performance, speed, etc.?

    • @KayakCliff
      @KayakCliff  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi 👋 Michael, Thanks for watching and commenting! Both kayaks are high performance in their respective categories. You could definitely paddle the RazorLite
      alongside the Pakayak and be at a comparable speed. The Pakayak should edge out the RazorLite in a race though. It all depends on weather you want
      a sit on top touring kayak or sit inside touring kayak…… At some point I will do a video speed test comparing both models at cruising speeds and top
      speeds. Hope this helps. Have a great weekend!!! Pakayak

    A modular kayak would be great if you lacked storage space.
    Thankfully thats not an issue I have. I have seen similar ones on the water.
    Point 65 makes one as well.
    Were the performance sacrifices minimal? It appeared so.
    Foot braces were not as firm as I like and there were no thigh grips on the ones I have used.

    • @KayakCliff
      @KayakCliff  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi 👋 there Sligh, The Pakayak has nice foot braces. While it does not ship with knee and thigh braces, you can order those as an accessory to the pakayak from Pakayak’s website. My last touring kayak was a Jackson Journey 14 footer. I have noticed no performance differences between Pakayak and my old Journey. Thank you so much for watching and commenting, safe adventuring out there!

    Hey Cliff, thanks for this video and all the great work you do with reviews and taking us on adventures. The signed water trail was really cool. I ordered a Pakayak in the chili color via your affiliate link today. I'm so excited to try it out, even if it's nearly winter here on the East Coast.
    Btw, in my quest to paddle in all 50 states, I've yet to do Texas. Would be cool to link up st some point.

      Congratulations Doc! You will absolutely LOVE the Pakayak! In my opinion, the performance quality of the Pakayak is as good or better than one-piece
      HDPE similar boats! I don’t feel that I sacrifice anything. I leave this weekend for a week in Florida filming probably 4 - 5 kayaking videos. I’ll be taking
      the Pakayak, PaddleSki and RazorLite with me! Give me a heads up when you will be in Texas and I will definitely try to coordinate our schedules. Safe

    The one down side I see is the weight. It’s quite heavy!

    • @KayakCliff
      @KayakCliff  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi 👋 Joe - Yes, at 58 lbs the Pakayak is heavy compared to some…. But, when comparing the 14’2’’ Pakayak to other rotomolded HDPE boats, it is not
      much more weight. Other similar sized 14’ HDPE touring kayaks weigh between 52 - 56 lbs. It’s been my experience that the lighter ones are very spongy
      in the bottom and not very stiff. Because the Pakayak breaks into 6 pieces, all of the edges at each break return into the inside of hull all the way around the break.
      This return imparts a high amount of structural rigidity to the Pakayak’s hull once all pieces are joined together. When you look at one piece plastic boats,
      the bottom can get a little “spongy” unless you mold ribs and channels into the hull’s bottom. This makes them a little stiffer, but not as stiff as I have
      experienced with the Pakayak Bluefin 142. You can wheel your kayak down to the waterside then put together, or you can put together at your vehicle and
      roll down to the water with a kayak cart. I had one trip where I didn’t have the cart with me and did not want to put it together at the waters edge. Instead, I
      put it together up at my truck, then carried two half’s down to the water. You definitely have options on how you want to handle it. Not having to fool around
      with a roof rack is a godsend, plus, I can store it away anywhere I want. Soon, I will start checking it on airlines and taking it abroad with me. Thanks for watching and
      responding! Safe adventuring out there!!!

    • @Joe-xq1nt
      @Joe-xq1nt ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hmmm I really like my roof rack. I use it for a lot of things besides kayaks and saves me from buying a 60k+ pickup. To me that’s a godsend. Doesn’t affect mpg due to if I’m going long distance it’s on my toad behind my motorhome which gets 8-9mpg and the kayaks make absolutely no difference. Also leaves interior space for hauling other stuff. There are a lot of kayaks at 14’ that are much lighter but this one definitely has a place in the market with its ability to be broken down. At least with this you can store it in your garage or anywhere hot, unlike inflatables. It looks like it tracks well and really well built.

    • @KayakCliff
      @KayakCliff  ปีที่แล้ว

      It is very well built, and I am impressed with the performance. Thermo formed plastic kayaks can definitely get a lot lighter, but HDPE polyethylene, rotomolded kayaks typically are a little heavier. It’s great that you have found a solution that works for you! Safe adventuring out there for you, Joe!
