I'm sorry, but NOBODY can top Darren's voice, NOBODY. He is one of the most underappreciated and greatest voices of all time, period. His voice is not of this world. God bless him. I don't know the man on the left, sorry sir, but to me, most "singers" you can always tell they are thinking in their head, the notes, the phrasing, etc. they are putting so much thought and effort into what they are doing... Darren NEVER looks like that because he doesn't need to. He gets totally out of the way and the voice just happens. His voice is a gift. When he sings it is almost effortless.

I think the absolute best thing about this video is that although Darren is outclassing Gary in every aspect, Darren clearly absolutely loves Gary's performance and welcomes every word. Not only is Darren a great singer he's a first class Human being and as humble as they come.
This type of song is challenging to pick the lower octaves/notes to sing, Darren has so much smoothness/power in his high notes that will naturally pierce through perfectly. Gary is phenomenal in his own right!

Look up his music with both Savage Garden and as a solo artist. Two Beds and a Coffee Machine (Savage Garden album Affirmation), and solos songs such as Bloodstained Heart, Words and I Just Want You to Love Me, are incredible examples of his voice, alongside his better known songs Insatiable and To The Moon and Back (SG). I am envious that you have all of his work to experience for the first time.

No way! Somehow Darren popped in my Home suggestion here last week - actually the song I Want You did. One thing led to another and now I'm scouring the internet for anything about him. I just love how this beautiful man loves to sing and his voice is absolute perfection. I guess I really have to thank the YT algorithms for bringing me to Darren. OMG! WHAT A SONG!!! And Darren Hayes? Never heard of him before, but I can assure you I will be searching for more. That voice brought me to tears. And I've always liked Gary Barlow.
Look up his music with both Savage Garden and as a solo artist. Two Beds and a Coffee Machine (Savage Garden album Affirmation), and solos songs such as Bloodstained Heart, Words and I Just Want You to Love Me, are incredible examples of his voice, alongside his better known songs Insatiable and To The Moon and Back (SG). I am envious that you have all of his work to experience for the first time.
And might I add “Step Into The Light.” A more upbeat solo song that has an absolutely amazing crescendo.
