My friend go for now 4x ps5 they got burned motherboards by liquid metal spilling out and I speak about un-openned ps5's . He sad that the liquid metal isnt well protected if you move or turn your ps5 😮🤔. Maybe that happens after you play heat up the ps5 and then move it or turn it around thats bad if that starts to happen to all ps5 .... 😮😮😮

We need to keep the pressure on all companies about this, don't let anyone get away with it. Even though some like Sony do have great customer service and will likely replace it for accidental damage we cannot let the pressure up.
Companies like Apple who hike up the repair price to be more expensive than a new product to bait you into buying a new one are the worst in this situation, Samsung is starting to get there, which annoys me cause papa needs himself a new Galaxy s8+ screen lol.

Well, people are obviously buying broken, loose consoles for the MSRP of a brand new system, so it clearly isn't insane to ask such prices.
What's insane is that people are willing to pay these prices just because Sony can't keep up with demand. Hell, have you checked PS4 prices lately? I've seen Pro's (just console plus controller) retail for 399€ last week.

Just yesterday I had a similar case in my repair shop. Had a customer with PS4 Slim constant BLOD issue. Upon inspection, I've noticed that the big capacitor of the LAN port (missing from the board of your PS5) and the 4 filters were blown out. I've changed them from a donor board and I got to WLOD, which was great news. It turns out that the lightning strike has also blown the IC chip. Changed that and EUREKA! +1 happy customer!
My point is that the chip on the other side of the board was actually fine. You're missing a capacitor there. Try putting it back to place, along with the 4 little filters and try again. Cheers from Bulgaria!

@@KindOfHero okay so I recently got it back from repairs.
It had the problem where it turns on for a one to two seconds and off immediately. It was the APU chip that was faulty. Ohhh, and my PS also had moist damage by the motherboard.

Have you ever considered the short sniffer from testec. It uses a magnetic field (Coil) to detect traces deep within a circuit card. Just a thought to get you deeper into the board without having to buy an x-ray or excavate the board to find where the traces are going.

Thanks to you I was able to fix my 20+ year old GBA SP. Half the screen was faulty and thought maybe it could have been a faulty connection on the motherboard. After purchasing another GBA sp on ebay that was for parts or broken, I ended up being able to fix both because it was just a reflow job on my ribbon cable and the other needed a very small repair to the battery. On the PS4, the ethernet port would have gone to a special second SoC that handled communications (so that it could continue downloads while the main APU was powered off,) then was connected to the APU from that. I don't know if the PS5 kept this design or not. The magnetic isolation chip is supposed to protect the system from damage though from the ethernet port.

I lived in an apartment where the upstairs tenant had their air conditioner leak and it dripped down all day while I was at work onto a table and ruined it. So I definitely can see where water damage could happen...BUT...I would have definitely known what the issue was when my ps5 was fine and then water everywhere and not fine...so why play they may or may not games...it's to cover themselves to avoid a return. 'untested' - tested, broken

And this is the reason why you shouldn't turn on electronic devices plugged to a wall during storms.
Also the main reason why you should ALWAYS unplug EVERY cable from the console.

My PS4 always says my data is corrupted and most of my games don’t work. I’ve rebuilt my data base 50 times and I’ve initialized my PS4 like 8 times, I even took it to a specialist to see what was wrong and he said “nothing was wrong”. Anyone have a clue on what the problem could be.

Please do some wearables like Garmin, Apple, Fitbit, and Samsung, as most of them are trashed from the battery being “not replaceable.” Like my Garmin Instinct which is a bang for buck the best for battery life but at only 2.5 years old till the battery starts having issues is very lame.

    • @Tronicsfix

      I discharge caps when needed

    • @diymaster1121
      @diymaster1121 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

@@MysticCoder You should always discharge any capacitor that possibly has high voltage (mains input filters) or any large capacitor on the output filtering side... It is always good to discharge all capacitors in power supplies to prevent damage or injury. I usually just short out smaller capacitors with the screwdriver but I would use a resistor for any larger ones...
Proper way to do It is through the resistor.

To test psu output, put multimeter probes on poles, you hear beep, hold on for several seconds, if no more beep from multimeter and numbers on display show growing resistance
Output is good, else output is shorted and there is problem in output.

The PS5 has lots of openings from the grill at the top. If a can of drink drops that's it. On mine a piece of wire went in those holes stuck where the fan is and that was easy to get out.
