      As an expatriate Scot living in Canada, it's great to see the homeland. Really like the Tomahawk you've been training on. All C-172 here, by and large. I really like the Virb display. You don't see many aviation videos providing a similar display. If you haven't come across Steve Thorne's Flight Chops channel yet, you'd probably really enjoy them..

    Love the RV-8!! Great video too but who was the artist and what was the song? Love it!!

      Thanks! There were a couple of different songs: to which are you referring? 😊

      Thanks for getting back, I haven’t been on here lately. The song that starts at the 6 minute mark.

    I’d probably die in one of these. I’m so scared of flying. Do you also get a lot of turbulence in these?😱

    • @DeadReckoner
      @DeadReckoner  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well they bounce around a little more than you'd feel in larger aircraft. That's where your pre-flight weather assessment comes in!

    • @MadeupUniverse
      @MadeupUniverse 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dead Reckoner I’d probably die 😂

    • @DeadReckoner
      @DeadReckoner  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It'd be my job to prevent that :P

    • @MadeupUniverse
      @MadeupUniverse 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dead Reckoner yeah, but it’s going to be a heart attack sooner than a crash 😂

      It's my job to take people like you to your destination, I trust Boeing, Cessna, Vans, Airbus, ECT. The smaller the plane the more turbulence presents itself, however with good preflights you can navigate around.

    Why use the flaps on that Rwy? I never use my flaps on my 8 for T/off.

    • @DeadReckoner
      @DeadReckoner  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can't really comment on the use of flaps as I wasn't PIC for this flight, and it was my first time in this aircraft. If, perchance, I get checked out on it in the future, I'll be able to give a more-informed opinion.
      All I can say for now is that the PIC was very capable and professional throughout the flight :)

      You will soon realize that flaps are not needed on t/off unless you have an urgent need to get off the ground.

      "Never"? I'm the previous owner and builder and never used the flaps for take off on runways greater than 600m but for less than that - and particularly grass ones - I usually did, depending on obstacle clearance.

      The RV-8 takeoff ground-roll at sea level is just 275 ft. The RV-8 has bags of performance. It will quickly spoil you.

    I'm curious what did you use for airspeed and the G's measurement that you could overlay in your video?

    • @DeadReckoner
      @DeadReckoner  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      JeRaF FPV the Garmin cameras record all those metrics and you choose what you'd like to overlay in post :)

    I managed to beat Bob, the previous owner of that Rv-8 in a dogfight near Peterborough while flying my RV-8. If you want some content then get the current owner to come down South and I'll take him on!

      That's because I had a passenger and I didn't want her to decorate my clean cockpit :-)
