I’m 50 female from Scotland and BTS found me 3 years ago at the start of the first lockdown. Thank god they did as they got me through it. All 7 are hugely talented in their own right but together they are Dynamite. They have soooo much content to check out. Bts is the group of 7artists, 3 rappers and 4 vocalist's. Also, 2 of them are skilled dancers... Bts have something what other BoyBand groups don't have... 7 members gifted in totally different ways. As a group they are unstoppable, so as individual artists. There is no member of BTS carring them to the success , they doing it Together!!!

Love your observations. In my opinion BTS is nothing like Western boybands. But also they have come far outside KPOP. Many say they are a genre unto themselves and I agree. Always look deeper into their lyrics. They are astounding. You really won't find many songs about the normal dating and break-ups that dominate western culture. I think this is one reason why they appeal to people of all ages and genders. And apart from all that, you will never find a group of young men that are as kind, humble, intelligent and giving as the members of BTS. Good luck on your continuing endeavors and I hope you enjoy a lot more BTS.💜

I think others already explained a bit about the group so I won't repeat. I'm one of the older BTS fans (ARMY) at the young age of 66. I found BTS in early 2021 with Black Swan and never looked back. Let me tell you that I have seen and heard a LOT of groups of lots of varieties or genres in my years and BTS is THE BEST I have ever seen and heard! Yes, they cover multiple genres. They cover important issues in society. They've spoken at the United Nations 3 times and been invited to the U.S. White House within the last year or so to talk about Anti-Asian hate crimes and such. Their lyrics are important in most of their songs, but they also have some playful songs. Some of their playful songs have deep lyrics though, so Always use Closed Captions! Further, they are the only group I know who truly appreciates their fans and are constantly writing songs to and for us, telling us they love us, etc. In fact, June 13th 2023 marks their 10th official anniversary since their debut and they recently dropped a new song called Take Two. I don't really suggest you listen to that one next because it has references to past songs which you wouldn't know yet. So many songs to recommend, but I'll leave it up to others. BTS has a lot of songs with different genres. You're right that their lyrics has depth to it, so you need to look at the english translation of it plus their music videos details has meaning to it too. You will be further amaze if you watch the videos that BTS singing these songs live.
You are correct when you say that BTS is not just for a younger audience. ARMY is the name of their fanbase, and it is demographically much more diverse than that. I’m a 53 year old ARMY, and I discovered BTS in early 2022. It is said that you find BTS when you need them. Most of the subject matter for their music is written by their own members and in-house writers and producers. All of these young men have bachelor’s degrees and have or are working on master’s degrees. They use literature and psychology and societal topics in their discography, and even have a cohesive storyline running throughout some of their MV’s. They have diversified so much by broadcasting their own shows, livestreams, marketing with commercials and becoming global ambassadors for several companies and even for their own country. They have a huge influence in the world, making it a better place. I hope you keep pursuing this rabbit hole! 💜

I'm 55 ys old and really LOVE them. I've been ARMY for years and my 30 yr old daughter introduced me to them. Jimin, the dancer that you focused on in Black Swan is my bias with Suga, one of the rappers as my bias wrecker, but I truly love all 7. OT7 and ARMY for life!!

13:31 bts sunce day 1 made music with message, their debut song was about loosing dreams and urging young people to find them and work for them. Also, bts are unicorns in this regard as a lot of kpop has surface level lyrics . I think this mainly because bts was formed around rappers who came from underground scene and who valued sincerity and producer who signed them also pushed them to write and tell their own stories from day one

Black Swan is about them fearing they might lose their passion for their art eg Song Writing, Composing, Producing, Singing, Rapping, Dancing, performing and/or being physically unable to do any their work again. It's based on a famous quote from a famous dancer 'A dancer dies twice, once when they stop dancing and this is the most painful death' The shadow is Jimin dancing btw. 'Shadow' is a term used in Psychology that refer to the part of the mind were we hide our deepest fears, dark thoughts and things we don't want other people to know about us. It represents that fear of losing their passion for their art. If you notice at the end the shadow shrinks down to nothing and totally disappears this represents that fact they over came their fear of losing their passion for their art. Black Swan was film in an amazing Theatre.
Thanks for learning about BTS with this reaction Save me is an early(ish) track: their company had no funds at the time so the MV was made on a shoestring: shot in one take (several attempts though) on a raised beach on a cold and rainy day - dancing on that soft ground must have been exhausting for anyone less fit, and in fact the camera-man had to be fit too because he too had his own choreography to fit in with the performance. BTS is nearly ALWAYS different - they are incredibly versatile and are also always actively pursuing growth personally and professionally. Their music covers mutliple and diverse genres. ARMY (fans) say that their genre is just BTS. ARMYs will love it if you watch each track more than once - for the dance/performance, for the MV style, for the lyrics - we love that respect - because there ARE so many things going on - and the lyrics are all incredibly deep. Many times the lyrics might be satirical or have a double meaning behind what seems happy nonsense. BTS are not really a "boy group" in the western sense. They make music for everyone : fans range across all ethnicities and cultures, as well as ages from toddlers to people in their 90s. I;m 68 and very interested in art, literature and all sorts of culture from around the world. They, like all Kpop artists, are incredibly beautiful, but they work hard to be so. Diets (exercise goes without saying) but also a rigorous attention to skin care and grooming. JK had bad skin when he was teenager and got a lot of hate - but he looked after himself and now he's immaculate - works out like an animal and is also insanely strong and a muscle bunny. He recently met up with a champion MMA fighter who said he was very impressed and believed JK could be a professional MMA fighter because of his strength and talent. Every performance is very carefully planned and thought through in every aspect. Kpop is not a genre but an industry (literally Korean pop) which has some factors in common rather than being one style. Suga, asked about whether Kpop would be an accurate definition of BTS' genre, said ... ‘I’m a little bit wary of that but I think rather than approach Kpop as a genre, a better approach would be “integrated content”.’ … ‘Kpop includes not just the music, but the clothes, the makeup, the choreography…all these elements I think sort of amalgamate together in a visual and auditory content package, that I think sets it apart from other music or maybe other genres so again, as I said, rather than approach Kpop as it’s own genre I think approaching it as this integration of different content would be better.’ Metro 28 10 2919 Mic Drop is a clap back at some of their early haters - and they still get a lot of hate from many directions. Suga and RM, who when they were 13 were in the Korean underground rap scene, were denigrated to their faces for becoming idols and were told they were like girls for wearing make up to perform, and had betrayed the principles of hip hop. They said nothing in response, but this came later. Suga made a number of songs in response in which he brutally calls them out, but says that now he doesn't feel the need to explore that further. Very pleased that you met BTS and liked what you experienced here - there is much much more, and much of it makes me weep, no matter how often I see it, because of the naked sincerity of their work. It is personal and real, and the personal makes it universal, so please, pull up a chair, clear some space, sit down, dance, laugh, weep, dream. Like the rest of us.

A lot of ARMY and other reactors often do two views of the videos...once for the video itself and a second view for the lyrics. We want you to be able to appreciate all of it; I promise we won't mind if you watch it more than once, rewind to catch something, etc. Their lyrics are very, very good and should not be missed! 1) Props to you for not saying the songs are "dope" or "fire", Dope and Fire are actually two other BTS tracks (and yes, they are just as awesome). 2) I've come to realize you really can't compare BTS to any of the Western boy bands- they are their own category, entirely, making pretty much every kind of music you can think of. There is even some directed to the young teenage girls, but all of their songs have deep & meaningful lyrics about mental health, loving yourself, and other important topics. 3)The dancer you pointed out in Black Swan is Park Jimin. He is trained in ballet as well as other forms, and is a superlative dancer! Jung Hoseok (J-Hope, the guy in the red track suit in Mic Drop) started out dancing hip hop with a street crew before getting formal training, and he is the dance leader of the group. 4) Mic Drop is a diss track- BTS has gotten a lot of hate, so they are calling out their haters. They have so many amazing songs! I'm 55,. and have been an ARMY for 3 years, and they are just amazing. Such sweet, humble, down to earth men who have not let their money or success go to their heads- they frequently make sizable donations to various charities.
These 7 young men are immensely talented, incredibly hardworking, and they have a huge variety of genres expressed in their discography. The only thing I ask is that you refrain from disrespecting young teenage girls, disparaging their taste in music, and blaming them for the vacuity of typical western boy-band lyrics. The one who does the solo dancing in Black Swan is Jimin... He's so good that he was top of his class at the Busan School of Arts where he specialized in contemporary dance...
They are the biggest group in the World and each member is a solo artist. All are Full members of the South Korean Copyright Association which is very hard to achieve. All 7 members are Song Writers, Composers and Producers. They have full creative freedom which is not the normal in kpop.
There are many names of BTS & "Versatility" is one of them 😌 they are the group with whole package like vocals, raps, dancers, producers, writers, performers, talents, diverse, versatile etc etc The biggest band in the world for a reason though 🔥🔥 I would recommend more songs of them: Blood, sweat & tears DNA Dionysus (b-side) Blue & Grey (b-side) Run BTS (b-side) Boy with love Fake love Danger Spring day You will find every song different from the another one 💜
You should really make sure to do another vid with subtitles to their songs on! Their lyrics are WILD! Plus maybe watch a vid that explains who they are. People have been trying to take them down a lot in their early days (still actually). Mic Drop is basically them giving everyone that has been actively trying to hold them back or tell them they couldn't do it and should just quit, the finger. Dope xD

Many ARMY have already addressed the stuff that I wanted to say already so I'm just going to give you some tips. When you're ready to try to start identifying the members, never do it by hair color. These guys have dyed their hair so often that you'll be very confused. I recommend watching an introduction video and learn their faces. After doing that, watch/listen to a solo song that each member has written and sung to learn their voices. It's easier to identify them this than it is to identify them by hair color. One thing that I love about BTS is their methods of storytelling in their videos. It's really such a masterpiece to watch them tell their story to us, the audience. The silent acting, the fluid movements of their dancing(Jimin especially. He's the dancer you saw in the majority of the Black Swan music video. Call him an Angel or call him a fairy, Park Jimin's dancing display is on a different level. He majored in Contemporary dance.), the emotions conveyed through their vocals, the heavy hitting deep lyrics, and the music overall just tells an entire story that puts you through an emotional rollercoaster. I should mention that BTS rarely use green screen. They started out with nothing and couldn't afford it, but now.. Even though their company has a big budget now, they still prefer to not use green screen. So, a lot of the music videos they made are sets or real locations. Save Me was shot in one take, for example.

They comprise of 3 Rappers 2 who were part of the underground Hip Hop Scene as Rappers and the third was a Hip Hop Street Dancer. They debuted as a Hip Hop Group. They never left that but they also will experiment with a number of different genres and will mix genres. One of the Rappers Suga (aka) Agust D just smashed Drake's previous record by selling over 1million Physical copies of his new Album D-Day on it's release day. He's also just finished his sell out solo tour of the US and they only Rapper to gross over 30million US from a solo tour. He's also and Award wining Producer. JHope Rapper holds the record for the most ticket sold at the biggest music festival in Chicago USA Lollapalooza. He's outsold every other act in the history of Lollapalooza and it was live streamed worldwide. I've watched it on the live stream here in the UK. I could tell about all the records every single member has achieved but it would be a endless list. I've only mention 2 of the Rapper but I could go on and tell you about every single member's record breaking achievement but we'd be here all day and I haven't even mentioned any of the vocalists.

Let me tell you that I have seen and heard a LOT of groups of lots of varieties or genres in my years and BTS is THE BEST I have ever seen and heard! Yes, they cover multiple genres. They cover important issues in society. They've spoken at the United Nations 3 times and been invited to the U.S. White House within the last year or so to talk about Anti-Asian hate crimes and such. Their lyrics are important in most of their songs, but they also have some playful songs. Some of their playful songs have deep lyrics though, so Always use Closed Captions! Further, they are the only group I know who truly appreciates their fans and are constantly writing songs to and for us, telling us they love us, etc. In fact, June 13th 2023 marks their 10th official anniversary since their debut and they recently dropped a new song called Take Two. I don't really suggest you listen to that one next because it has references to past songs which you wouldn't know yet. So many songs to recommend, but I'll leave it up to others. You are correct when you say that BTS is not just for a younger audience. ARMY is the name of their fanbase, and it is demographically much more diverse than that. I’m a 53 year old ARMY, and I discovered BTS in early 2022. It is said that you find BTS when you need them. Most of the subject matter for their music is written by their own members and in-house writers and producers. All of these young men have bachelor’s degrees and have or are working on master’s degrees. They use literature and psychology and societal topics in their discography, and even have a cohesive storyline running throughout some of their MV’s. They have diversified so much by broadcasting their own shows, livestreams, marketing with commercials and becoming global ambassadors for several companies and even for their own country. They have a huge influence in the world, making it a better place. I hope you keep pursuing this rabbit hole! 💜

13:31 bts sunce day 1 made music with message, their debut song was about loosing dreams and urging young people to find them and work for them. Also, bts are unicorns in this regard as a lot of kpop has surface level lyrics . I think this mainly because bts was formed around rappers who came from underground scene and who valued sincerity and producer who signed them also pushed them to write and tell their own stories from day one

Black Swan is about them fearing they might lose their passion for their art eg Song Writing, Composing, Producing, Singing, Rapping, Dancing, performing and/or being physically unable to do any their work again. It's based on a famous quote from a famous dancer 'A dancer dies twice, once when they stop dancing and this is the most painful death' The shadow is Jimin dancing btw. 'Shadow' is a term used in Psychology that refer to the part of the mind were we hide our deepest fears, dark thoughts and things we don't want other people to know about us. It represents that fear of losing their passion for their art. If you notice at the end the shadow shrinks down to nothing and totally disappears this represents that fact they over came their fear of losing their passion for their art.

Save me is an early(ish) track: their company had no funds at the time so the MV was made on a shoestring: shot in one take (several attempts though) on a raised beach on a cold and rainy day - dancing on that soft ground must have been exhausting for anyone less fit, and in fact the camera-man had to be fit too because he too had his own choreography to fit in with the performance.
BTS is nearly ALWAYS different - they are incredibly versatile and are also always actively pursuing growth personally and professionally. Their music covers mutliple and diverse genres. ARMY (fans) say that their genre is just BTS. ARMYs will love it if you watch each track more than once - for the dance/performance, for the MV style, for the lyrics - we love that respect - because there ARE so many things going on - and the lyrics are all incredibly deep. Many times the lyrics might be satirical or have a double meaning behind what seems happy nonsense. BTS are not really a "boy group" in the western sense.
They make music for everyone : fans range across all ethnicities and cultures, as well as ages from toddlers to people in their 90s. I;m 68 and very interested in art, literature and all sorts of culture from around the world. They, like all Kpop artists, are incredibly beautiful, but they work hard to be so. Diets (exercise goes without saying) but also a rigorous attention to skin care and grooming. JK had bad skin when he was teenager and got a lot of hate - but he looked after himself and now he's immaculate - works out like an animal and is also insanely strong and a muscle bunny. He recently met up with a champion MMA fighter who said he was very impressed and believed JK could be a professional MMA fighter because of his strength and talent.
Every performance is very carefully planned and thought through in every aspect. Kpop is not a genre but an industry (literally Korean pop) which has some factors in common rather than being one style. Suga, asked about whether Kpop would be an accurate definition of BTS' genre, said ... ‘I’m a little bit wary of that but I think rather than approach Kpop as a genre, a better approach would be “integrated content”.’ …
‘Kpop includes not just the music, but the clothes, the makeup, the choreography…all these elements I think sort of amalgamate together in a visual and auditory content package, that I think sets it apart from other music or maybe other genres so again, as I said, rather than approach Kpop as it’s own genre I think approaching it as this integration of different content would be better.’ Metro 28 10 2919
Mic Drop is a clap back at some of their early haters - and they still get a lot of hate from many directions. Suga and RM, who when they were 13 were in the Korean underground rap scene, were denigrated to their faces for becoming idols and were told they were like girls for wearing make up to perform, and had betrayed the principles of hip hop. They said nothing in response, but this came later. Suga made a number of songs in response in which he brutally calls them out, but says that now he doesn't feel the need to explore that further.
Very pleased that you met BTS and liked what you experienced here - there is much much more, and much of it makes me weep, no matter how often I see it, because of the naked sincerity of their work. You should check their live performance it super good
1) Props to you for not saying the songs are "dope" or "fire", Dope and Fire are actually two other BTS tracks (and yes, they are just as awesome).
2) I've come to realize you really can't compare BTS to any of the Western boy bands- they are their own category, entirely, making pretty much every kind of music you can think of. There is even some directed to the young teenage girls, but all of their songs have deep & meaningful lyrics about mental health, loving yourself, and other important topics.
3)The dancer you pointed out in Black Swan is Park Jimin. He is trained in ballet as well as other forms, and is a superlative dancer! Jung Hoseok (J-Hope, the guy in the red track suit in Mic Drop) started out dancing hip hop with a street crew before getting formal training, and he is the dance leader of the group.
4) Mic Drop is a diss track- BTS has gotten a lot of hate, so they are calling out their haters.
They have so many amazing songs! I'm 55,. and have been an ARMY for 3 years, and they are just amazing. Such sweet, humble, down to earth men who have not let their money or success go to their heads- they frequently make sizable donations to various charities.
These 7 young men are immensely talented, incredibly hardworking, and they have a huge variety of genres expressed in their discography. It's so fun to watch a new person discovering their music - and I look forward to seeing your journey down the rabbit hole!
The only thing I ask is that you refrain from disrespecting young teenage girls, disparaging their taste in music, and blaming them for the vacuity of typical western boy-band lyrics. Don't fall into the trap of thinking that just because teenage girls like something, then it is somehow of less value than if guys like it.

The one who does the solo dancing in Black Swan is Jimin... He's so good that he was top of his class at the Busan School of Arts where he specialized in contemporary dance...
They are the biggest group in the World and each member is a solo artist. All are Full members of the South Korean Copyright Association which is very hard to achieve. All 7 members are Song Writers, Composers and Producers. They have full creative freedom which is not the normal in kpop.
There are many names of BTS & "Versatility" is one of them 😌 they are the group with whole package like vocals, raps, dancers, producers, writers, performers, talents, diverse, versatile etc etc

Many ARMY have already addressed the stuff that I wanted to say already so I'm just going to give you some tips. When you're ready to try to start identifying the members, never do it by hair color. These guys have dyed their hair so often that you'll be very confused. I recommend watching an introduction video and learn their faces. After doing that, watch/listen to a solo song that each member has written and sung to learn their voices. It's easier to identify them this than it is to identify them by hair color.
One thing that I love about BTS is their methods of storytelling in their videos. It's really such a masterpiece to watch them tell their story to us, the audience. The silent acting, the fluid movements of their dancing(Jimin especially. He's the dancer you saw in the majority of the Black Swan music video. Call him an Angel or call him a fairy, Park Jimin's dancing display is on a different level. He majored in Contemporary dance.), the emotions conveyed through their vocals, the heavy hitting deep lyrics, and the music overall just tells an entire story that puts you through an emotional rollercoaster.
I should mention that BTS rarely use green screen. They started out with nothing and couldn't afford it, but now.. Even though their company has a big budget now, they still prefer to not use green screen. So, a lot of the music videos they made are sets or real locations. Save Me was shot in one take, for example.

They comprise of 3 Rappers 2 who were part of the underground Hip Hop Scene as Rappers and the third was a Hip Hop Street Dancer. They debuted as a Hip Hop Group. They never left that but they also will experiment with a number of different genres and will mix genres. One of the Rappers Suga (aka) Agust D just smashed Drake's previous record by selling over 1million Physical copies of his new Album D-Day on it's release day. He's also just finished his sell out solo tour of the US and they only Rapper to gross over 30million US from a solo tour. He's also and Award wining Producer. JHope Rapper holds the record for the most ticket sold at the biggest music festival in Chicago USA Lollapalooza. He's outsold every other act in the history of Lollapalooza and it was live streamed worldwide. I've watched it on the live stream here in the UK. I could tell about all the records every single member has achieved but it would be a endless list.
I've only mention 2 of the Rapper but I could go on and tell you about every single member's record breaking achievement but we'd be here all day and I haven't even mentioned any of the vocalists.
