So sorry for your losses. As a farmers granddaughter I know that regardless of any and all precautions you take there will be losses and unexpected accidents. These are animals that are doing what comes naturally in birthing and feeding so you can only do what you can do. Grandpa had to put down mama cows with newborn calves due to wolves, damage during birthing and such. Raised many a bottle calf but also lost many over the decades of farming. Thank you for your hard work.
People making comments like that have no idea what ranching/farming is all about. Outdoors calving is much preferred. So sorry for the loss, any loss is hard. Hopefully Spring will come soon for you. Blessings.
Dang it! Well, at the very least you know for sure exactly what happened to the missing calf. I’m so sorry! 💔 And seeing how distraught mama was at the time makes sense, but sure is heartbreaking!
Reckon momma was telling ya that day she was bawling. Circle of life but sad none the less. Hope rest of calving goes well. Btw ..spring is/was officially the 20th of March, even tho we went back into a lil winter haha. It's the 21st now n we hit 63° today in S.E. TN
She’ll be weaned off the milk replacer soon, and she’ll spend the summer with the cow-calf herd out on pasture. This fall, she’ll go with the other spring born calves to our other farm once they are all weaned. Next spring we’ll make a decision to keep her to breed or sell her. She’ll most likely be kept unless she’s just not a good replacement candidate.
Some people don't think you should calve around potential water hazards? 🙄🙄 That's like telling us not to calve where there are coyotes. Good grief, our herd would be in the house.
Right! And we have a very good audience for the most part. Every now & then we have a video that seems to reach a broader audience (which we appreciate) & they are sometimes ignorant to the realities of nature
I hate to see the loss of your calves. But as my Stepdad use to say “if you can’t afford to loose them, then you can’t afford to raise them” but no matter what it hurts, especially the one in your pond. I was afraid that was what happened. Sometimes Momma Cows don’t pick the best spots to calve or stash their calves accidents happen 😢. God Bless 🙏
It’s life. That’s one reason I like raising the kids around it. They learn the harsh reality of life and death very early on. I feel that this helps them deal with those challenges later in life.
People need to get a life they never been on a farm, you can'tread her mind and be with her all the time, 😅stuff like this is going to happen, and you can't always be there and they shouldn't expect you to, people need to chill

Yeah, it’s sad, but a bit of a relief
Sorry for your loss. I know it’s nature but darn. ❤

Merhaba kolay gelsin kardeşim 👋🏻🤠🐮🇹🇷
What does the future for Smoky look like right now? Thanks for the video.

Love them ears 😢
Yeah, me too. And really hate that it was a heifer!

Are the heifers open?
Yes. Our plan is to get them bred and sell them later this fall
"Karen's" want pasture raised, that means outside to calve, graze and live. You can't have it both ways.
Yeah, this is simply a reality of how nature works.

So sorry about the calf....farming is not always pretty.

That flat tire was like me and my mom hauling cows and started to smell like burnt rubber
Flat tires are the worst. Usually not a terrible fix, but always a pain in the butt (& usually at a bad time!)
Dejavu!!!??
A windshield might be a good idea. That's why they are there. Lol
Maybe smokie identifies as a goat, they would rather eat out of the bucket.
That might be It!

Exactly. 99% of our viewers and comments are positive, but I knew there’d be an idiot at some point, so I wanted to go ahead and address it
Save room for Jesus with all yalls hate "Karen's".
