@@RobbieAndGaryGardeningEasy wasps and a kind of stingless bees are using my feeders and chasing off the hummingbirds. Any ideas on how to keep the feeders free for the hummingbirds?
After seeing your video I started making my own hummingbird nectar, I went from two or three birds to 30 or more within a week. I had no idea there were so many in my area. I clean the feeders every 2 to 3 days to make sure the birds have clean food. I am having so much fun watching them.

Hi, I live in GA and used your methods last year. Instead of the usual 3 to 4 hummingbirds that would stop by I had over 30 each morning, evening, and a good many all day for a couple of months.
I watched this video and thought I was going to learn some amazing new recipe. I was disappointed that it is exactly what I have always done. I'm very happy that you are able to teach others a very well known process.
I love feeding hummingbirds ❤. I saw my first ever Baltimore Oriole in my yard today. I remembered how you made the holes in your feeders bigger with your soldering iron, so I did that to the hummingbird feeder that I have in my flower bed so just incase he wants to get a drink, he can. I was so excited when I saw him and I got a picture of him 😊. Thank you for all the videos that you have made to help us learn! ❤😊❤😊
Aren’t they beautiful and fun to have there. I’m so glad he found those holes that were big enough for him to drink. Now they should be able to feed his babies. ❤

I'm just happy to hear & see the Doves and Robins in my garden. Even though our weather's still chilled here, I put out a shallow dish of water for them. They remember how generous I was last year placing 3 gallon-sized buckets of fresh water for them. I placed twigs in each of them so the Monarchs & Bumblebees could drink too. The Robins would sit on the edge of the buckets...dunking grasshoppers in sort of a milk & cookies fashion. Nature deserves Mums like you & I, Robbie. I taught folks to place out buckets which drastically cut back on those cannibalistic grasshoppers. And you Robbie, well...I hand over the wand on everything else. Take care, ~ Covah

I’ve always made this recipe. I’ll bring in my feeders (only 2 as we don’t get that many hummers) at night, clean them and refill and back out early in the morning before they get up. I also have lots of flowers for them. I want to make one of those water fountains you’ve made instructional videos of. Can’t imagine life without hummers….and many other wildlife.
I've been a subscriber for some time now and get great inspiration from you. I mix 1/4 cup sugar to 1/4 cup hot water until sugar is dissolved. Then I add 3/4 cold water. It ends up being lukewarm and I feel ready to put it in my feeder right away. I also learned from you to use a spoolie to clean the small holes of the feeder. I think you cleaned up an old mascara brush, but I had a discarded brow crayon with an unused spoolie on the end. Your garden is gorgeous and so fun with all the hummingbirds! We might get 4 at a time, but that's it.

We have two 25 lbs dominos sugar bags just sitting in pantry. Now I know how to get rid of it and make birds happy. Hummingbirds are fun to look at. They show up exactly at 3pm (+/-1 minute) in our garden. I find that amusing.
I have figured a way to keep the paper wasps off my feeder. I had to buy a new one and happened onto a More Birds feeder. I also got a free bottle brush with the feeder. It closes up tight around the bottom and does not leak any nectar. Before, the wasps would intimidate my birds and now the birds can get a sip anytime. I have a watch bird everyday who chases away others but they are fun to watch. When his shift ends they all go for it. I have also purchased a wasp trap. You have a beautiful garden. I love hummingbirds. I have one coming in my yard every summer Pen so cute. You’re doing a great job. God bless you. Those hummingbirds are so cute and they got everything in your backyard.❤❤❤
I thought you needed to boil it for a minute - to kill - I don’t know what we are trying to kill - lol! I’ve just always heard to do that. Do you not boil your mixture??!
I combine 1/4 cup white cane sugar and 1 cup of water in a Pyrex measuring cup, stir, microwave on high for 5 minutes, then let cool. For me, this is quick and easy, although I can see the 1/2 cup boiling and 1/2 cup cold water mixed together. I feel it's more sterilized for the hummingbirds! I'm doing the water fountain, too this year!
I use my microwave very little, and you don’t have to sterilize for the hummingbirds. Anything you see getting in the water in your feeders is coming from the hummingbirds not going to the hummingbirds. Thanks
First things first: I have enjoyed your videos in a big way -- so informative and fun. The inspiration you provide all of us is a wonderful thing! I'd purchased the little Walmart hummingbird feeder awhile back, because of the great price. I subsequently saw one of your videos actually talking about this feeder -- it made me happy to know this one would work. I then bought several more because of that video. :) I wanted to hang them out today because I figured most of the rain was finally finished for awhile (central/northern California). I was wrong -- it's raining cats'n dogs today. Even though our trees don't have leaves yet, the hummingbirds are already out searching for food, so it feels important to get these out there for them. What I want to know is if I put the feeders out and it rains, will enough of it get inside the feeder to dilute the nectar solution?
Robbie it has been so cold here, I have not seen any hummingbird yet, but I have my feeders out with your recipe. I do have Orioles male and female now feeding on the feeders .
Oh they must be nesting near by, as the Orioles love lots of nectar when they are raising chicks, they hummingbirds are foraging on all the flowers probably.❤️
I used cane sugar last year and they seemed to love it. This year I’m using plain white sugar because my husband said I should only be using white sugar. Thank you for confirming vane sugar is okay. I was worried I hurt them putting it out!
Robbie thank you for your information on the hummingbirds. I've been having trouble with bees. My feeders don't have the yellow to word off the bees. I went to the hardware store and picked up a can of yellow paint and spray the feeders. It worked! The bees stay on the other feeders that I have
Thanks for the explanation on sugar. It quieted my misgiving about white sugar. I love all your creativity! I love to come check out your channel and see what going on.

People around the world must know Feeding stray dogs, birds and even ants, feeding poor people, is so good for you, it improves your life by curing the problems and hinderances in your Birthchart. Its a culture to follow in India
I don’t know about that, I understand this is how your raised. I feel helping others including the creatures of the world is done from the heart. We have to want to do this for them, not because it says so. (but whatever works) We all should be good humans and care for what God has given us to enjoy. Sadly though there are too few of us that believe this. Hence the reason our world is crumbling in front of our eyes. It’s saddens me and I cry for the helpless, humans and animals alike. I’m so glad to hear you help all things as well ❤
😂 Normies debating animal care. Our father in heaven created these creatures for us to enjoy. Feed them. Care for them. Enjoy them. Thanks for the recipe I'll be feeding the humming birds in my area. 👍
Where I’m from, you don’t see hundreds of hummingbirds, but my mother has a single hummingbird feeder she puts out every year and this year we see at least 7 hummingbirds a day that will come by. They have been coming by so often, we’ve had to refill the small feeder at least once a week. The one good thing about the recipe is we can make a large batch and fill it back up throughout the week. We are starting to get regulars and it’s a lot of fun see the birds whenever we are in the kitchen and can look out front.
I started with one bird and within a week I have more than 10. The mimosa trees in my area attract a bunch and they’re starting to die off so now I gotta go get even more feeders. 😂❤
I use a glass feeder with metal base. The underside of the feeder flowers have become rusty. The birds don't seem to mind, but is the rust ok? Or are there stainless type feeder flower undersides that won't rust that you could recommend?
Small amounts? ... LOL ... We go through 8 or more cups a day. Usually that only happens during migration but this year they don't seem to be moving through or the migration is dispersed and just keeps coming through. We started with just 1 bird that had found the feeder I bought and hung, it stayed over a couple years then a couple more found us. After a few years 3-4 started staying the year since we have a mild enough climate for them. Now there are 2-3 nests in our trees, who knows how many around us, we live in a little rural town full of trees surrounded by nut orchards and the riparian habit that is being saved by California near the river. The last 5-6 years during migration it has sounded like you've walked into a bee hive when you step outside, but that only lasted a week or so until the winds and temperatures became advantages for them to move on. This year though we've been a month or more going through those daily 8 cup refills although we're not getting that bee hive effect this year. We see maybe 4-7 at time. But still, 8 cups! I saw somewhere that could mean 2,000 to 4,000 daily visitors. 10 lbs sugar every few weeks? Like you say penny's a day and a half hour of my time daily. 2,000-4,000 humming birds that would otherwise be hours from death. Small price. Wish I could do the bird baths you share but we also have been feeding up to 35 feral cat's that we've spent a year trapping, getting them fixed, and their shots, but they still hunt. They can't help it. When the Humming Birds started staying I couldn't believe they could live on sucrose alone and looked into it, they also eat knats. So I quit spraying the landscaping that can survive the white flies and the webs they build that trap other knats,. The birds are very happy and chubby, although my yard doesn't look as pristine as it used toto others. Small price. I know why.
Wow, you do have a lot of birds, we can go through gallons a day. Yes, they eat gnats pollen and nectar as well, and they are moving around differently this year than usual. ❤️
there is a lot easier way to do this. 1 cup sugar + 4 cup unheated water (i use filtered) in a 1.4l bottle (i use the large kombucha bottles), mix by shaking, use when clear (1-2min). refrigerate rest for later. no waste of energy, time, and not a lot of dishes to wash. i am lazy🙂
There's a bird you feature at 1:39 in your video, do you know what kind of bird that is, because we now have one hanging around getting into our hummingbird nectar, can you tell me what kind of bird that is if you know or anybody knows thank you
@Robbie and Gary Gardening. I saw a couple of humming birds passed by my backyard. It is the beautiful birds. I want to put up a bird feeder. So I can watch them. I worry if I leave out on the full sun. The nectar liquid might get boiling hot. Might cause harm.
Hummingbirds are also bug catchers so luring them in helps cut down on flying insects. Add a bat box for night time flying insects. The average bat can consume 1300 mosquitos a night.
A simple container making video for the nectar would have been beneficial.😊

For me, this is quick and easy, although I can see the 1/2 cup boiling and 1/2 cup cold water mixed together. I feel it's more sterilized for the hummingbirds! I'm doing the water fountain, too this year!
I use my microwave very little, and you don’t have to sterilize for the hummingbirds. Anything you see getting in the water in your feeders is coming from the hummingbirds not going to the hummingbirds. Thanks
Great video thank you 😊
You’re welcome 😊 Thank you
Thank you from Washington. Your video was so perfectly explained and simple. I'm excited to help.😁
Cane sugar is great as long as it is white table sugar
Finaly something good in California
😊
Robbie thank you for your information on the hummingbirds. I've been having trouble with bees. My feeders don't have the yellow to word off the bees. I went to the hardware store and picked up a can of yellow paint and spray the feeders. It worked! The bees stay on the other feeders that I have
Great!
Thank you!
THANK YOU SO MUCH
Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Thanks for the explanation on sugar. It quieted my misgiving about white sugar. I love all your creativity! I love to come check out your channel and see what going on.
So awesome, Thanks
Just made fresh water for mine.
Waiting for that orange curtain reveal.
Been some things going on here, that slowed me down, will be getting to it this week..AND GARY TOO has something he is working on, and I can't wait to see what he is doing to, AND he is doing a video on it too...HOW FUN! Thanks
@@RobbieAndGaryGardeningEasy ok. I will be waiting.
Have you seen the lady that wears sunglasses with a plate and birds land right in front of her eyes?😍
Bless❤
❤️ Thanks
I enjoyed your video. I wish I had as much luck as you do keeping them around. Its soo hot here in Vegas that the fluid has to be too hot to drink. I did plant some flowers to brighten up the back yard. We'll see
People around the world must know
Feeding stray dogs, birds and even ants, feeding poor people, is so good for you, it improves your life by curing the problems and hinderances in your Birthchart.

I’m so glad to hear you help all things as well ❤
@@maryreynolds5310 so true. if we can hate without reason, i feel that we can also love without reason.
Greetings from Brazil!!!
That’s how I make it, three cups at a time , I change the water every two days especially when it’s hot outside.
Thanks
Very cool facts! Thank you❤
Thanks 😊❤️
just found two baby hummingbirds in my tree and suddenly got very invested in helping the mother
She will Love your help❤️
That’s so cool
Thank you for the recipe
My pleasure 😊 Thanks

I am making some. The map shows they are in my area. I always think that they can't be here yet because there isn't a lot growing, but they are.
They could be traveling slower due to all the flowers now in many areas. Good to get something out so they can find it and stay around your place.
I started with one bird and within a week I have more than 10. The mimosa trees in my area attract a bunch and they’re starting to die off so now I gotta go get even more feeders. 😂❤
You teach great 💯👍❤
Thank you so much! 😃
1 cup sugar + 4 cup unheated water (i use filtered) in a 1.4l bottle (i use the large kombucha bottles), mix by shaking, use when clear (1-2min). refrigerate rest for later. no waste of energy, time, and not a lot of dishes to wash. i am lazy🙂
There's a bird you feature at 1:39 in your video, do you know what kind of bird that is, because we now have one hanging around getting into our hummingbird nectar, can you tell me what kind of bird that is if you know or anybody knows thank you
Hooded Orioles male
Is it good idea to put the feeder out on the open area with full sun?
If that’s the only place you can put it, just make sure you change it every day
@Robbie and Gary Gardening.
Thank you 😍😍😍
