Hello, we grow figs near Sacramento, California and are located in USDA hardiness zone 9b (Sunset zone 14). I don't believe 8a should be a problem but have no personal experience with that.
Overall, the Martinenca Rimada branches have considerable orange or yellowish appearance with lower level of striping on the Bordissot Negra Rimada. Fruits on Martinenca Rimada are more round while larger than BNR.
