    Arm drag is actually one of the moves I really enjoy. Was able to pull it off in one of my matches during my high school wrestling days and for self defense situations and training in other martial arts it feels like that move comes pretty natural to me. One thing I learned about arm drags is no matter where you drag whether it’s right above the wrist, the elbow, or in the armpit. I always drag the arm pit because I felt more in control. One time in a match, I shot in for a double leg takedown and a guy got a front headlock on me, a position where you end up at whether you like it or not. The guy had a tight front headlock on me so the first thing I had to do was get a hold of his arm and move. And I kept tugging on his arm to create space until I was able to pop my head out and turn the corner. Of course for every situation it’s different but what I discovered is pressure is key when applying this technique.

      Solid pressure and grabbing higher up on the arm are both excellent tips, Travis. Thanks!

    Arm drag, RN choke always seem to work. Used that vs the left hook which most of the time its people I just want to calm the F down ( I was a doorman for a few years) and I don't want people hurt, I want them enjoying themselves.
    It always starts with "YA WHAT YOU GOING TO DO " ARM DRAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG to RNC. I've had to do that about 7 times, one time the dude swung at me clipped my chin barely and I stepped sideways and left hooked him because, hey I was mad damnit lol.

    Could not have uploded this at a more perfect time. today I was walking my dog, and some guy wanted to take my dog to do some prank on his friend, who was afraid of dogs or something. When he asked to take my dog I told him to fuck off, which looking back was a bad idea cos he got all aggressive. Anyways he went to push me with one arm and that`s when I did the arm drag thing and then pushed him from behind, which caused him to slip. As he was getting up I said "Don't fucking touch me" which again, probably was a bad idea cos he could have gotten more aggressive, but he walked away. he probably walked away because at that point my dog was barking at him and probably wanted to bite his head off, but anyways thanks for the helpful video

  • @Fufutae

    I learned the first technique shown here back in my Kali days, and I love it! I have my own take on the technique, though, which I like better. Instead of simply taking the arm and moving it, what I like to do is to strike the opponent in the ribs first to soften him, then grab the arm near the elbow, and the violently jerk it at angle downward, to the side, with a bit of a curved motion, while putting my whole body weight into it. This not only lets me get behind my opponent, but it also pulls him off balance, at the same time, blinds him for a split second, making it hard for him to counter.
    I think you both should give it a try. It's a bit more complex than what is shown here, but with proper training it is even more effective, provided you have a decently strong grip. :-)

    • @AndoMierzwa
      @AndoMierzwa  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes! If the situation calls for it, adding a strike always helps. Striking and grappling work best together! Thanks for the comment!

    • @Fufutae
      @Fufutae 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's less about adding in a strike, and more about how the arm drag is executed. :)

    I am by no means an expert, but my 2 cents on BJJ versus Kung Fu is that Kung Fu would beat BJJ (just the grappling side of it). But this is only because to me Kung Fu seems designed to use lethal force (or at least knock out or injury) - it just doesn't really work otherwise. The first couple of moves in the Tai Chi form are pretty tame, but that's about it. But I'm not an expert.

      I guess any martial art teaches you a good structure. So with wing chun e.g. going from tan sau to bong sau is very similar to a judo hip throw - all you have to do is turn your hip into them with it. Thanks

    ARM DRAG and bear hug? to someone thats a beginner..you just got their ass kicked the instant they tire..ARM DRAG and punch? all that to punch..now ur only clean shot is the side or back of the head..how about just punch..teach beginners rule of street fight the first to the button wins.ARM DRAG and run? ok..turn around and run..u didnt piss someone off to persue u..u hauled ass the other way..their just laughing..ARM DRAG and rear naked..ok where getting somewhere but grabing an elbow can get u in trouble..grab opposite wrist or lower arm..if ur strong arm is right grab his left lower arm or even wrist..violently pull across body in split second he will quarter turn and u will shoot to back and do the rest..sink rear naked..practice make quicker..when he awakes he will be disoriented if ur not gone by time he snaps out of it dont let him or others soup him back up..because he will and this time that tactic wont work!! so when he come to tell him if he doesnt chill or leave u will put his ass to sleep again only this time while your out cold ill be fucking you up soo bad..now...if u ever run across this cat again and have that quick eye contact where you get that adrenaline hot flash..RELAX..this MF will most definitely pretend he didnt see you and move right along..hehe..
