Playing as the AZTECS in the Definitive Edition! [Age of Empires 3: Definitive Edition]

📍 The majority of Aztec military units are unique to the civilization, with the exception of Canoes and War Canoes. The entire Aztec army is composed of infantry. They can build the Nobles' Hut and War Hut which are their counterpart to the European Blockhouse. Almost all of the Aztec units are melee units (including their War Chief), with the exception of Otontin Slingers, Eagle Runner Knights, and the longest ranged archer, the Arrow Knight.
The Aztecs lack cavalry and artillery units that other native civilizations have access to. To compensate for this, the Aztecs also have specialized infantry units that fulfill similar roles. The Coyote Runner makes up for their lack of cavalry. Their ranged cavalry unit is represented by the Eagle Runner Knight. The Arrow Knight, whose range is the best of all archers, is specially designed to tear down buildings and fulfills the role as a weak Mortar and anti-artillery Culverin to protect their vulnerable all-infantry armies from artillery fire.

Very smart aggressive early play to open up for a water takeover into a priest boom all age 2. I wouldnt call it unorthodox just complete control of the gamepace.

They're pretty underpowered, my main civ atm, Im suprised that the enemy tried to take water againts a rushing civ as the aztecs I think that was his mistake, great perfomance, someday I wish to become as good as you, good game.

1. notice how Aiz's chief was at 950 hp most of the game after he picked up that 40% hp treasure age 1. He tanked like a GOD in age 2.
2. how did india mass like a god too after aiz killed a million vills and houses in the beginning? lol is this a hack?
3. i always find aztec hard to play tbh. they have a good initial rush but no good eco to immediately follow up, which gave india the window to push while aiz was trying to boom with warrior priests etc. can someone teach me how to play aztecs?

Aztecs have insane early game. The must have unit is the warrior priests. They are essential for the shipments they provide, putting Aztecs ahead in early to mid game. After that, you want to move away from War hut units and focus on eagle runners as they are one of the best untis in the game. You can mix them with cayotees for cannon killing power or arrow nights for siege. They still wont do well against european Imperial units, but until industrial, they are pretty good

india have wood trickle cards in age 1 and 2 worth 3 and 5 vils respectively which count as 8 "invisible" unraidable vils. it helps compensate a bit but in the long run india took poorer trades and couldn't hold on to water.

Aztec is balanced i'd say. You van delay aggression to water boom with double shooner card. It gives you eco to go 4 after a late 3 with 3 docks production fish/possibly with fertility dance lol. You should look samurairevolution.com for strategy explained video for aztec
