I have seen a 34 year old Alagna play Don Jose with all the strength and vibrancy of youth. Now I see him at 57, till strong and vibrant, with the depth of maturity; he has mellowed like a fine French wine.

Sono stato e sono fedele e sono stato un entusiasta sostenitore della tua arte e della tua carriera per molti anni e prego Dio che continuerai a incantarci per molti anni a venire, perché secondo me sei ancora uno dei diamanti rari e attivi nella scena dell'opera. Al giorno d'oggi ci sono molti giovani cantanti d'opera che dovrebbero essere i migliori, ma non posso e non voglio condividere questa opinione. Sfortunatamente, sono classificati più in alto rispetto alle loro abilità. Non dimenticare mai e non perdere mai i "TRE NOTE" come ti ha detto l'altro mio grande idolo, il Maestro Pavarotti, 2 giorni prima della sua morte !! Dio lo benedica e Dio ti protegga nella tua vita privata e nella tua carriera futura !!
Bella aria però se è cantata da del Monaco Di Stefano Gigli Barioni Corelli Bjorling Raimondi Moldoveanu Aragall è leggermente migliore..
@@eugeniogentili1048 Ora potremmo iniziare una discussione sul gusto personale delle voci, ma l'elenco dei cantanti sarebbe molto lungo e secondo me superfluo, perché il fatto è che Maestro Alagna è stato il mondo dell'opera e dei fan per anni con la sua meravigliosa voce e capacità di recitazione entusiasta e per me personalmente è indispensabile e rimane uno dei migliori cantanti lirici al mondo.
E' un buon tenore microfonato che ha dato il meglio negli anni passati, non paragonabile ai nomi che ho menzionato sopra, questo e' poco ma sicuro
Potrei citare anche Richard Tucker Nikolov Spiess Fleta Vichers Vinay Merli Pertile Masini Fanateanu tutte grandi voci che non ci sono piu' da un pezzo purtroppo.

Honest to say, Alagna is UNBEATABLE! With the fame, status, achievement he has, he is not necessarily to sing the aira in original key. I say so because most other tenors with more than 25 years in their career like Alagna here, already transposed down to sing. And some other tenors even cannot sing in a lower key. Alanga is so talented and a precious one! My big admiration to him! Ciao!

When Roberto is in good voice, he is literally one of the greatest tenors of all time. I just wish he was more consistent. I guess it just shows that he is also human!
I think there is natural high variance when you sing with as much vulnerability and commitment as he does. More consistent singers reserve more and take fewer risks.

I can't help wondering if the Metropolitan Opera has recorded / will record the entire performance with Roberto Alagna by any chance... (It would be such a waste if they didn't!) I see no hope of a broadcast anywhere, but a performance like this should be recorded and made available on Opera on Demand at the very least. Bravo once more and congratulations, dear Maestro!

Is this a recent performance? I remember when I first heard young Alagna singing this aria, it was sublime and beyond description. But I don’t know when he started to have the obsession with dramatic tone - he started to sing with an unnatural darker voice for roles like radomes. I am glad that he can return to his natural lyric voice
Theat is because he began to sing many dramatic roles and also as the voice gets older and mature, it darkens... Still though he put his voice through much, it sounds better than many of his much more younger peers...
