November 2023. Every day, I toss, recycle, or give away at least 25 items. Craft items go to children's programs or seniors' programs. My daughter's friend got some expensive yarn and my sister-in-law got some nice knitting needles. No moving van behind a hearse. Tina, Al's wife
Hard liqueur does not go bad as it is sterile. It actually gets better over time which is why you pay a lot of money for aged scotch etc. If it is unopened you can definitely still drink and enjoy it. If it was opened but closed tightly it should still be fine and is definitely not toxic or harmful. There is just the risk that it lost some of its taste or color. I would just give it a taste before using it or offering it to guests. You should throw it away if it was not completely covered so that dust or things could get in or it tastes strange.
You answered a lot of our comments that you forget the labelling, maybe you could make yourself a little "decluttering kit" in a box you always take with you when you declutter. You could put a few papers , tape and pencils in it so you can label boxes immediately. And remind yourself that you have a lot of empty boxes where you could put things into to make categories, instead of putting things onto shelves etc where you would need to make a decision about again when you want to go to that area again. (Like: everything smaller than *idk what* needs a home inside a box for the time of only decluttering) It's easier to decide about things when you see it in it's categorie I think and it could make organising afterwards a lot easier🙈. Even if they choose spring colors or combinations that wouldn't fit your home decor, it would be personal and a gift from the heart 🥰 I guess you could create wonderful wreaths for every occasion or season with what you accumulated 😉 use up what you have and enjoy the creative process 😘
I love ribbon and yarn. I get it at Goodwill or on clearance. I use it for gift wrapping or crafts. I keep maybe 3 rolls of ribbon and 3 skeins of yarn. I buy only solid brown paper to wrap gifts. Tina

When you said you'd turn the drawer unit into a college storage bin I thought, maybe you should start a regular bin for college vs. a drawer unit and that way you can label it and stack it with the rest of your regular bins, and you can use the drawer unit for something else or sell it. It'll just be harder to stack with the rest of the regular bins otherwise!
Great job! Don’t forget to label that 3 drawer cubby as college sentimental. I know it is the only one right now but I see more cubbies in the to be done area and it will get confusing quickly once you have multiple cubbies that look the same.
There are a million Beasty Boys posters out there, hiding in women's closets. Haha. I have been dehoarding so much today! Yay! Just small sections. I'm doing a little in each room! So rewarding.

I found an even larger stash of old but still good alcohol when I was cleaning. I used it as currency to pay a friend who would actually drink it for them to help me by being the muscle as I decluttered stuff. They hauled stuff around, carried it up or downstairs, loaded the car for the thrift store, etc. It helped me out a ton and they were incredibly happy to have it.
Yeaaay! I guess if the alcohol bottles are sealed and don’t contain anything milk related, then they don’t expire :) Why not store college related stuff also in the big bins, so you can better stack your sentimental bins? Because the clear plastic dresser could be perfect for setting up a craft area and organising your craft supplies ❤️

Great work, my friend! I have helped my parents to tidy/purge/clean in their bedroom this weekend. They have two big book cases, they were full with both books, paper and a lot of random stuff. We have gone through most of it, and found books in piles everywhere in their room. I helped my mom to put sewing projects in the sewing room as well, so she won't use the sewing baskets to put other random stuff in when she is tired. Their room is looking better (no more piles!) and we got a lot of laughs, when we found funny sentimental things. Looking forward to see the Christmas Konmari, even if it's a bit scary. :)

Hi there!! While not a maximumista, I'm definitely not a minimalist lol, but as I've gotten older, it's been easier to let things go. The one item I was stuck on is my doll house my father made for me when I was 10. He and I would go shopping for miniature furniture and other accessories.... Sweet memories. I'm 54 now and Dad is 83. I've had just come to terms of parting wth it but now I have a new niece(born in August). My sister and oldest niece never had any interest in the DH but not I have one last chance of passing on something very special to me. On a side note, watching some of A&E's "Hoarders" episodes scares the bejesus out of me, but your videos are very satisfying and strangely soothing....lol. One box and one memory at a time!!
You really surprised me with the sippy cups, and 101 Dalmations window clings! When I saw those I thought “oh man! Sentimental!” I’m sure were still tough decisions, but it definitely looks like it’s getting easier for you! 👏

You are doing great! Maybe next time you are organizing bring a stack of index cards down with you plus some tape and a sharpie. That way you can label the boxes as you go. Just write on the index card and tape it to the side of the box! Easy to see and read from a distance!

I have binge watching your basement decluttering series. But I’ve noticed some items come back into view. Some you weren’t ready to get rid of and later you do. And others that were supposed to leave but somehow didn’t. I applaud you for the fortitude to continue, even though sometimes it seems difficult. I know from experience that when the items do finally leave the building, it feels like a breath of fresh air. I can’t wait to see once you get to enjoy a cleared up basement. A thought To encourage you when you let go of 101 dalmation things: ppl like myself grew up with these characters and now we have kids and we would be happy to buy these things secondhand and decorate our playrooms and such.
I've been watching through your videos and have already went through your whole basement declutter series and I really love it. You've made so much progress! Love seeing it open up and can't wait to see it fully organized and usable as a space. I struggle to let things go too, and ever since we've moved I've been trying to declutter and simplify what I have and let old things go. I get sentimental about old stuff like from high school and still find things even older than that, and it's satisfying to watch your progress and hear that someone else also gets all excited and memories when they find certain items. I'm the same way lol, even keeping little tags and boxes because it's pretty or cute. You should definitely turn each of your series into playlists and give yourself lots of credit for how much you pushed yourself to clear out

You need to be so so proud of yourself! That basement is looking so empty, and that’s including stuff that you have been bringing down to store in the basement from other declutters upstairs in your house! Just a thought on candles, they don’t need to be all in the same place but the emergency ones need to be accessible! When there’s a power outage do you want to trek it all the way down to the basement in the dark? Maybe a few under the kitchen sink? Also, I love that you are healing whatever the hoarding was caused by. Gone are the days where you couldn’t let go of empty boxes, or old grimy cups! Wonderful quick decisions! You really are opening up a good amount of space! These past few weeks I have been supervising my messy nephews' remote learning, and have made them clean up their office areas and put away their books right after class. This so inspired my mother that she cleaned her desk that hadn't been organized in a year and a half. Kid's. cleaning mantras: Clean up as we go along. Reset for learning tomorrow.

These past few weeks I have been supervising my messy nephews' remote learning, and have made them clean up their office areas and put away their books right after class. This so inspired my mother that she cleaned her desk that hadn't been organized in a year and a half.
Kid's. cleaning mantras: Clean up as we go along. Reset for learning tomorrow.
