    My late Dad was a Plumber all his life and he asked to be buried with a radiator key in his pocket so that "When the Archaeologists dig me up in a thousand years time, they'll think it's a religious artifact" We did exactly that!

      My Dad was cremated, but we cremated him with a compass, a swiss army knife and the missing piece of the giant lego set he had built... wont do anything for archaeology, so our only hope is to cause confusion in any afterlife.

      The most bafflling thing which confounds logic is why people have religions to begin with. The stupidity of religious icons made one Pope kiss a merkin, (google that to read the truth)

    That is the best Australian accent I have heard a brit do in ages! Just the right amount of broad vowels and enough clipped sounds to actually sound authentic. Thanks Sanjeev! Love from Djilong (Geeeeeeelong)

    Being a true Aussie myself I’m so proud of Oscar Brittle and his wife and that’s exactly why we are called a weird mob. Love the song “Dig a hole, dig a hole” comes to mind too. And Sanjeev’s accent isn’t half bad either. ❤️👏 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺

    As someone who knows an archaeologist (sort of) I know exactly how they will explain this one.
    One word.
    Ritual.
    It's archeological speak for "not a f**king clue".

    • @Florkl
      @Florkl ปีที่แล้ว

      And if anything remotely phallic is present: fertility ritual!

    • @WormholeJim
      @WormholeJim ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, they'll find a copy of the letter in the public records, or they'll come across information about it and it's contend and then they'll surmised the *logical* explanation to the mess they found in his crypt.

    As an archaeologist the interpretation would probably be 'ritual' which basically means no idea. My plan is to have a heavy stone on top of me inscribed 'leave me alone you bast#@ds!' Then to have it spring loaded with confetti so if they do get in it's more fun to dig.

    • @Kevin-mx1vi
      @Kevin-mx1vi ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yup. "Ritual" covers everything from the most elaborate religious festivals to making the morning's first cup of tea, so invoking the word is the archaeologist's way of appearing knowledgeable while in fact not having a clue.
      If you believed the British archaeologist Francis Prior then all ancient people ever did was to make "ritual" objects and build "ritual" structures. Forget trying to scratch a tenuous living from their hostile environment !

    • @indianajon7980
      @indianajon7980 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The urn containing my brother in laws' ashes was buried between the graves of his two cats, and was accompanied by a stuffed elephant he'd had as a child. I've often wondered what future archaeologists would make of that little lot.

    David Macaulay wrote a book called "Hotel of the Mysteries" that might have influenced the minds behind "Oscar Brittle" to write this one. It's all about future Archaeologists discovering a modern hotel and being confused by everything.

  • @ModelsExInferis
    @ModelsExInferis ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Oh, I'm so divided on this one! As a certified "Dino-nut" I can say that we're pretty much on point regarding dinosaurs. We know what they looked like, within a small margin of error, we know roughly what the ones we have skulls of sounded like (no, as much as I love Jurassic Park, T-Rex did not sound like a lion roaring!), and we now know that many had feathers. As new specimens are found we gain more knowledge, to the point where we even have an idea of the colouring of some animals! There hasn't been a more exciting time for palaeontology since the 1800's!
    On the other hand archaeologists can be magnificent bores! They don't have the teeth and claws you see. So getting one over on them would be fun. But, let's face it, humanity won't be around for much longer, so who would we be getting one over on? Maybe Luurg? Or maybe birds, already having evolved from dinosaurs, would evolve further? Imagine an evolved bird watching us dig up their great, great, grandparents a few billion years removed! Now there's a fly I'd like to be on that wall!

    ...unless his wife is digging with a deep mining drill, they could probably figure out it was staged based on just taking soil samples around the dig site.
    Archeologists might be smug, but we got to give them some credit for their intelligence... I'd be too depressingly scared about the state of humanity if we couldn't.

    I have asked my family to dig a hole on a remote stretch of beach well above high tide, and put me under a toilet door with the switch turned to Occupied. If someone lifts that up, they are to find a note on my ribcage asking for privacy.

    Oh yeah, they will be truly baffled:
    Option 1. Guy was a time traveller.
    Option 2. Time is meaningless.
    Option 3. Guy's skeleton formed time portals around itself that teleported minor artifacts.
    Option 4. Aliens!
    Option 5. Question all previous archaeological findings and whether science and logic can be used to solve the enigma.
    Option 6. A weird guy from Aus. whose bones are younger than all of the surrounding items decided to be burried with them.
    Just think of all of the hours they will waste on cracking that puzzle.

  • @mayday6916
    @mayday6916 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    An archaeologist would see that it's someone buried with some things from different times in history, but would also see from the stratigraphy that the grave is from the beginning of the 21 century. The conclusion would be that it's some weird guy that made arrangements to be buried with some historical stuff - perhaps to fool some archaeologists. 🤪

    I hate the way everything archaeologists don’t understand they put down to some sort of religious rite. Why? Couldn’t prehistoric people done things just for fun. A big feast to celebrate a birth, a marriage a good harvest just for joy.

      YES! That's my only problem with archaeology as a whole - since in my youth it was my dream to either become an archaeologist or a journalist. I think there are so many more logical answers to their obsession with religious rituals than they give credit for. Almost *anything* is more logical in many cases. I don't doubt that they are right a lot of times, but I'm almost certain they are wrong at least as many times as they are right.
