I’m just now realizing that this song is actually really symbolic. So, Dan sort of wrapped himself up in Diana’s grief and didn’t focus on his own. When Diana left, he was left with all this leftover grief that he was just now forced to deal with. Gabe isn’t a ghost; he’s a representation of grief. ‘ You’ve always known who I am. ‘ is Gabe’s way of reminding Dan of his grief and the fact that he’s always known it was there.
I saw her twice on Broadway and once in LA. She was just SO SO into the role, and it seemed like her voice was just so exhausted. She was so brilliant at each performance and her acting went hand-in-hand with however her voice was...she was just Diane.
This cast is very good but my favorite pair who did this song was Brian D'Arcy James and Aaron Tveit because they both captured the characters so beautifully and were so emotive. I might be biased because I am partially in love with Aaron but thats just what I was thinking.

I can totally see that, plus she was sick for a bit of the time she was in town. Some of the people were not nice to her in the reviews, but one reviewer said that "Alice Ripley at 50% is better than most broadway stars at 100%"
How do you think Alice sounded in this production? Cause when I saw it in Seattle people were saying she didn't sound too good, I personally, LOVED her
Alice sounded amazing as usual, at least to me. But it was... different. Quite different from Second Stage. It seems almost worn out. She did say she didn't want to do the tour... she was tired.

Did you mean higher or lighter? I think Curt's notes are higher but his voice is stronger/fuller than Asa Somers. :P
