In this new video, I've fully recreated the iconic Minor Turbulence mission from GTA V, giving it a photorealistic rendering thanks to the Runway Gen-3 AI.
By combining meticulous prompting and precise use of the Rockstar Editor, I was able to reinvent this mission, while integrating the original cinematic. 🎮✨
I also created my own cinematics for certain moments in the game to reinforce the cinematic aspect.
However, I kept some gameplay sequences, particularly in first-person view, to preserve the authenticity of the GTA V experience.
This project demonstrates the extent to which AI is already pushing the boundaries of realism in games, even if real-time rendering remains a challenge. Imagine a future where these tools can directly exploit game geometries and textures... the possibilities are immense!

In GTA V Real Life - Runway Gen 3 AI - Cargo Plane Hijack Mission 🛫🎥, I mixed gameplay footage with scenes directed in Rockstar Editor to give this iconic GTA V mission a cinematic feel. Using Runway Gen 3, I was able to make the whole thing even more “filmic”.
The first sequence have some Trailer Park Boys vibes i think.
It was a long production process, and I put a lot of work into creating this video.

Remember those insane videos of Will Smith eating spaghetti, will it was only six months later that AI rendering started entering a level of uncanny valley that caught plenty of us out. This time next year is going to be insane.

Do you know that people rejected ATMs at first, saying that it would "make bank tellers obsolete"?
Do you know that animators initially rejected 3d animation, saying it was "soulless and cheap"? And how artists rejected digital art? And how they rejected photography, saying it would "destroy the field of art entirely"?
People are short-sighted and fearful of technological advancements, when in most cases they end up advancing and expanding the fields they touch. I have no doubt that generative AI will be the same.
GTA would make for a good tv show actually
When the ai is more refined, i will make it into a well directed show and eventually 8 hours movie that respect the art direction of the games.

8:15 the transition with exiting the plane which the AI doesnt know what happens and transitions to a totally smart "fade" into the scene so that it is logical, crazy fading skills. i can't wait for the future.

🤣 you could turn this type of footage into an actual movie thats enjoyable.. You could literally just roleplay a scene with characters (in free roam, not in a mission) with your own voiceovers and then turn it into a legit movie..
