A Day In The Life Of... Parker Byrd (ECU Commit / Infielder) Class of 2022

  • Episode 37: For this Episode I went down to Laurinburg, NC to film with ECU Commit Parker Byrd. He is a Middle Infielder in the class of 2022. We start the day off at his house where he works out in his gym. Then we head to a secret location in town with a Private Batting Cage indoors and get some swings in with his Dad. after that we head to the high School and hit some BP, and do some Field work.       Agreed, but in his case, he’s training mainly for strength and athleticism rather than building muscle. So shorts explosive squats are not that bad

      Lost his leg in a boating accident. Currently rehabbing and might be able to play at ECU!

      @@ShotByHype The quarter rep squat is a very common type of squat, practiced by the strongest lifters in the world. Squatting to depth is only necessary if you want to get stronger.

      @@dayman7061 exactly, PROFESSIONAL lifters, they are not using their knees like a baseball player would, not knocking the kid, hope he goes far, just lower the weight, imo there’s no better lift than the squat for strength training

    You're gonna get hurt squatting like that! You're young so you might not get injured right away but down the road you never know!! I suggest doing research on youtube on how to properly squat. But from me i'd say lower the weight and focus on good form!!!! I'm only saying all this 1. cause i dont want you to get hurt. 2. the squat has so much carry over so doing it the right way is crucial

    Not tryna be nit picky here but parallel would be optimal for him, baseball players don’t really need to go depth but that was just too much weight for him to handle

    good swing, but also that hand movement when u start off could mess with your timing. Needs more depth on squats/less weight

      He actually took his first collegiate at bat with ECU today and got a walk. He's worked hard and is officially the first D1 college baseball player with a prosthetic leg.

      It was actually a problem with the machine. It was suppose to be shooting the ball out at 70-80 mph but something broke and it only was shooting out 40 mph balls.

      id say his transitions are pretty good and if there’s no runners on you can take your time fielding a ball no point in rushing too fast into it and messing up the play
