    Voldemort didn't go back to the castle to find the diadem he already had it, he went back to hide it in the room of requirement. The diadem was in a forest in Albania where Voldemort searched for it.

    I dont get why people are confused about the portkey thing, it's not that complicated. Dumbledore made the cup a portkey so the first to touch it would be returned to the entrance of the maze to be crowned the victor, but fake Mooney came in and cast a second portkey spell on it to take the winner to voldemort. Mooney's spell activated first, and Dumbledore's activated the next time harry touch it

    • @chrisrudolf9839
      @chrisrudolf9839 7 ปีที่แล้ว +77

      Yeah, some of these theories were apparently made up by wannabe fans who never read the books. Dumbledore didn't understand Parsel, though he could probably use mind reading spells to get the meaning directly from the mind of the speaker.

    • @TheYasmineFlower
      @TheYasmineFlower 7 ปีที่แล้ว +39

      I wouldn't be too sure about that. Dumbledore never confirmed to have heard the Basilisk, but that alone doesn't mean that he didn't hear it. With his penchant for putting his students into mortal danger, it's completely reasonable to assume that he heard and simply ignored it.

    • @aiuka2026
      @aiuka2026 7 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Dumbledore was able to learn to understand Parseltongue but not to speak it. This happened AFTER Chamber of Secrets. He learned sometime before Half-Blood Prince when he was researching Voldemort's past. Ron learned to speak a phrase, as Harry talked in his sleep, that opened the Chamber of Secrets

      Harry is a descendant of Ignotus Peverell, the third brother. But IIRC it was never stated that Voldemort descended from any of them, (I think the two older brothers died without offspring) in the books Voldemort didn't even know the whole legend of the deathly hallows, he only knew of the wand.

    It isn’t Voldemort’s fault that he’s a bad person. His mother used a love potion on his father, thus making Voldemort incapable of feeling love, and making it hard for likability of others, let alone tolerance. He is one of the most misunderstood and yet greatest villains of all time.

      @connornyhan 7 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      Agustin Camejo the only thing that keeps Pennywise from being boring is Tim Curry's and Bill Skarsgård's hilariously wacky performances. But neither version of IT is actually scary. To be honest he's not a great villain. I'd rather see Pennywise as the protagonist.

    • @josiahferrell5022
      @josiahferrell5022 7 ปีที่แล้ว +29

      I'd say a strong point in the argument's favor is that the world really works like that. People are not inherently evil. There is always something that pushes people toward certain behavior, even socio/psychopaths are steered into their actions by causes. Writing characters that reflect reality makes them much more believable and even relatable on some level in the brain.

    • @somersault1123
      @somersault1123 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Its not the idea of having a reason to be evil that makes people lose interest in villains. Its knowing that reason. People prefer to guess about a villain's intentions rather than knowing them. You should continue to reveal your villain's intentions however. People will call it bad writing but in reality the tension it creates between them and your work will make them think about your work more than if they felt your work was absolutely acceptable writing.

    • @josiahferrell5022
      @josiahferrell5022 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Paige Turner I can go with that idea. Also I don't know what you think, but I would say J.K. also agrees which is why she wrote it the way she did.

    • @donutsrock
      @donutsrock 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      This. I think it's a main character point in the book when Dumbledore asks Harry in the pensieve something along the lines of 'are you feeling sorry for Voldemort?'
      I never thought Riddle's evil character as being a direct result from the rapey conception, but rather as a consequence of growing up an orphan with a quite loveless childhood. And then having Harry, with a all-too-similar backstory, understand this to the point of feeling sympathy for young Voldemort is an excellent (though far from the only) way of showing the fundamental difference between their personalities.

      Because it's Dumbledore and he would never get rid of mortal danger for his students because... reasons. Seriously, a man who parks a three-headed dog in a school full of children and secures the door so that a second-year's Alohomora can open it obviously won't give a damn if other huge and deadly beasts roam his school and endanger the lives of his students.
      He also never required Remus Lupin to stay within his quarters during the full moon with the doors secured by heavy spells and a member of the staff. While yes, it was good of him to give Remus the job, he should absolutely have put up some more precautions for the times that Remus couldn't control himself.
      But he never did. Because Dumbledore either doesn't give a damn if his students die or he thinks he's so powerful that nothing bad can happen that he couldn't fix in time. Either way, he's an asshole.

      Quite likely, since there are only about twenty or so pureblood wizarding families and they go back centuries and many of them had a habit to marry other purebloods. However, there is a difference between two families being linked by the marriage of a distant relative and actually sharing a common ancestor.

    Honestly, if they were to ever make a tv series, I would love to see a prequel situation of the events after the destruction of Voldemort. In particular, I'd love to see the development of Draco Malfoy in the light of the events that unfolded. He had been living all his life as a push-around figure, while trying to fake his own high ground morale as a superior pure blood student of the Malfoy family and a proud Slytherin. During his time at Hogwarts, he was acting tough but was always pushed around by either his father, by Belatrix, by Snape, and especially later on by Voldemort. His lines of which sides were allied became more and more blurred, and at the end he was left standing with the majority of his family and associated people on the "evil" side that lost, and his last moment was captured by running away with his closest family and fleeing the scene, despite where his own moral ground actually lied. I can imagine that this sense of being torn inside by seeing the triumphant "good side" with all the people he had been studying and effectively living with for years, but then having his blood family tear him in the opposite direction, all amidst the ultimate tyrant of that side had been overpowered, must put an incredible hole in his soul.
    I could totally see Malfoy in the coming years as a troubled person, almost like an anti-hero, who knows in their heart they wish to stand on the side of good, but with so many horrible actions he was forced to make, and not being able to stand alongside the people he had spent most of his life with at this point - and then having to live with all this in the coming years where Harry must have been celebrated all across the wizarding world along with everyone else at his side. Malfoy would have been left to live in the shadows.
    I can see this go two directions:
    1) Draco fights his way through his internal moral dillemas on a quest to regain the option of honor that he feels was taken away from him, and finally fights his way to the side of Harry. (See it kinda like a Vegeta+Goku scenario). Throughout the entire story, Draco balances on the edge between the good, and the dark arts of magic - somewhat similar to Snape's position as a form of double agent among the surviving followers of the now dead Voldemort - infiltrating and apprehending those among the dark ranks who seek to claim power for themselves now that the grand tyrant is gone for good. As a result, Draco founds a new order similar to the order of the phoenix, but consisting of members who are similarly balancing between the light and the dark - people who seek to redeem themselves and show their standing in the world once and for all.
    2) Draco can't live with the fact that Harry is celebrated as a hero and gets all the glory, while he himself is forced yet again to flee with his family relatives and is unable to pick sides for himself. He spends the following years unable to gain the acceptance that he desires, and instead learns to live with it and garners a further hatred towards not just society, but the fact that he has been used as a ragdoll his entire life, unable to ever truly chose for himself. This pushes him into a pursuit of gaining power to such an extend that he never has to answer to anyone ever again, and is able to live in his own justified glory. He ends up pushing the dark arts in an entirely new and unexplored direction to make his own mark on history. This entire obsession with making a name of himself in the history books becomes a complex for him to a degree where he desires it above all else, and is unable to compromise - ending up as somewhat of a mix between Voldemort, Grindelwald, and even Dumbledore.

    The one about the Defense against the Dark Arts one is wrong or at least incomplete. It says he wanted to come back to get the diadem. To my knowledge, when he came back and asked for the job with Dumbledore, this is when he placed the diadem in the Room of Requirement. Even if he had previously placed it there, he was fine with it being hidden in the Room of Requirement. The reason he wanted to come back was to attempt to steal the Sword of Gryffindor.

    No one is born evil. Its often the circumstances and the person's nature that lead to his eventual behaviour. I'd like to believe Voldemort was just a sad, unlucky, sensitive dude who never got to taste love. Snape was almost on the same downhill, but he found Lily on the right time. Voldemort, or Tom Riddle, grew up at a scary orphanage with so many children crying. A child keeps deep impressions of his first touch. We are hugged and kissed and cuddled when we are babies, and that's why we enjoy it even as adults. Voldemort didn't receive all that cuddling, and hugs and kisses. Perhaps the lack of love he faced right from his birth turned him sadly incapble of loving anyone. He was devoid of it, and his frustration was evident. No amount of sex or wine could make up for this emptiness. And maybe that is why he kept searching for power!

      Azzisera de Roquefort i am talking about symbolism. JKR didn't simply write a children's novel with magic, all her spells, her magical objects, her concepts are a symbolisms of real life. Of course children won't understand how a motherless child can become evil. And hence she brought whole love-potion concept which simply symbolises a union that takes place in a lie cannot beget a happy child.

    4:45 : Actually the most logical explanation is way easier than that theory; the cup was originally a portkey so that the winner would be transported back to the arena where everyone was. This way you could instantly know who won, and he'd come back as a true winner holding the cup. However Barty Crouch Jr put another portkey destination on top of it (sort of like it works as layers, you can put a destination then another destination etc without losing the first one, it's just "behind" it) which was the location that Voldemort chose, and once this one-time travel was used, well the next remaining one was the first one, that was put there probably by Dumbledore or someone of the likes for the purpose of the tournament.

    As he explained Harry is related to the youngest Pavarrell brother.Which means that the invisibility cloack was passed by generations.That means that the reserection stone was also passed generationaly.It went to the Goth family (Marvolo Goth).Who was Voldemort's grandfather.Marvolo gave the stone (wich was made a ring) to his son Morphin.Voldemor stole the ring of Morphin and made it his horcux.So we know that both Harry and Tom Riddle were related to Pavarrells.The Pavarells were brothers.

    Um, Ron learned to speak Parseltongue...and we know that ALL wizards from wizarding families are somewhat related, so all of the so-and-so is related to so-and-so theories are not at all mind-blowing... and the books are VERY clear that there is a method and spell to making a Horcrux. Every murder splits the soul, but one must perform a ritual and spell to actually encase a piece of the soul somewhere else. (Presumably, a split soul rejoins eventually...or at least remains within the person, even if damaged...) Some of these are not "theories" but actual facts stated directly in the books.

    • @r.brandt2246
      @r.brandt2246 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Ron did not learn Parseltongue, he explicitly tells Hermione that's he's only repeating something he heard Harry say. He has no idea what it means and wouldn't be able to understand if someone or something spoke it.

    • @Andreamom001
      @Andreamom001 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ron does know those particular sounds mean "open" or are a command to open because that's how Harry opened the locket and that's why he (Ron) was making those sounds, to open the Chamber. He had to say the same sounds twice in order to get in to where the fangs were (sink and then door), so yes, practically speaking, he learned the pattern of sounds that mean "open" and he knows how to replicate those particular sounds to say "open" when he needs to. If one set of sounds in a language can be learned, recognized, and replicated to communicate the correct word, other sounds in the language can also be. It may be extremely difficult to learn and perhaps no one not born with the ability would ever learn to speak it fluently, but if one "word" or thing can be learned and communicated in the language, so can other things, with effort.

      He can learn snake language, but Parselmouth is different. Harry hears English and thinks he's speaking English when talking to snakes.
      Also, we don't know anything of the sort that the words Ron uses mean "open" in any way. It could be a passphrase that's completely unrelated to opening any way.

    Wait... dumbledore doesn’t really understand parsel tounge, right??? Pretty sure he asked Harry for translation when they went back in time and voldemorts grandfather started talking to his children in parsel tounge.. only happens in the books though

    • @TheYasmineFlower

  • @SuperJackwilson
    @SuperJackwilson 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    the last one doesn't really work because the first horcrux was the diary and he didn't even kill mrytle directly the basilisk did it's more likely that the extra steps have to be done before killing someone or you have to make the horcrux immediately after their dead

    • @parkerronn
      @parkerronn 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      it's never stated that myrtle is the person he kills to make the diary into a horcrux

    • @Mohegan13
      @Mohegan13 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rowling confirmed it was Myrtle using the Basilisk as the weapon. If we follow timelines that also means the act of killing doesn't have to be performed at the time of making the horcrux. Myrtle died in May, the diary was made some where between September and December of the same year.

    Dumbledore actually learned the parse tongue

    • @TheYasmineFlower
      @TheYasmineFlower 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you can learn it, then it's not something that you're born with. It can only be one or the other. Even Harry wasn't actually a parselmouth, the piece of Voldemort's soul in his scar was, and Voldemort was born with it.

    • @PC.NickRowan
      @PC.NickRowan 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      TheYasmineFlower not really? Harry could speak it because part of voldemort was inside him yes, which transfered a lot of his abilities toward harry. Its not black and white however, it can be learned, but people who are born with it generally come from the slytheren family bloodline. Thats why tom could speak it regardless of the fact he was completely unaware of his magical heritage. Even toms mother, uncle, grandparents and great grand parents etc. Could naturally speak it for generations, as JK rowling has stated before that many people in toms bloodline have opened the chamber of secrets on several occassions for many generations, but obviously never called the basalisk.

    • @redharlow8655
      @redharlow8655 5 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @epicevie

    Also, if Voldemort had had the plan that you mentioned about the Triwizard Tournament, it wouldn’t have worked, because when you use polyjuice potion, you appear exactly as the person of whom you are impersonating. So if Voldemort had used the polyjuice potion after he killed Harry, he would just appear as a corpse of Harry Potter. Does that make sense?
