@@Walter_TexRanger there's a day crew and a morning tower crew. Day is 6am to 6pm, morning tower is 6pm to 6am. The rig never stops. When your relief comes in you'll spend a few minutes talking to them about what happened during your shift/what's going on now so everyone is one the same page. Usually between 7 and 14 days per hitch. When you're on a hitch, the work consumes all of your time, it's all you can do to get back to man-camp, make a quick meal and relax for an hour or two before sleeping and starting it all again the next day. It's a worthwhile trade off for a lot of guys to have that 1-2 weeks of freedom between hitches.

But the older I get, the more I understand the risks associated with long hours at work. 3 shifts instead of 2 means less pure income, but it also decreases risks, and in case of emergency, you can easily replace people, as there are more people present at any given time, in the camp. I used to work at 24/7 3 shifts, but I didn't work such physically demanding work like this on shifts this long. I think this is purely for employers benefit, with all the risks and negatives taken by the workers

I had a friend that did that job. Skinny but in shape. He came to help my family move one day and the guy was picking up couches by himself and carrying heavy things while literally running to the truck. He was intense. We all started working our asses off but he probably did 60% of the work because we couldn’t keep up. Impressive
I cant do it. I sometimes get symptoms of heat stroke and i habe to sit down and cool off. Even in a gym the ventilation wont be flowing and the heat stays on me and i get too hot and hsve to sit and chill out. But i also find by chilling i can also go for a long time becsuse i get lots of breaks. I had one job i just stopped working to sleep for a week because every once in a while more often than many people would stop and cool off so I could work from 5:30am to 10:30pm every single day. But it depends on the work some work is hard soke work is really easy but it just drags on and on and on and on and on. Its like a pick your poison kinda think.

I had a friend that did that job. Skinny but in shape. He came to help my family move one day and the guy was picking up couches by himself and carrying heavy things while literally running to the truck. He was intense. We all started working our asses off but he probably did 60% of the work because we couldn’t keep up. Impressive
I cant do it. I sometimes get symptoms of heat stroke and i habe to sit down and cool off. Even in a gym the ventilation wont be flowing and the heat stays on me and i get too hot and hsve to sit and chill out. But i also find by chilling i can also go for a long time becsuse i get lots of breaks. I had one job i just stopped working to sleep for a week because every once in a while more often than many people would stop and cool off so I could work from 5:30am to 10:30pm every single day. But it depends on the work some work is hard soke work is really easy but it just drags on and on and on and on and on. Its like a pick your poison kinda think.

I’m a mud engineer and I work on rigs with men like this all the time. Believe me , it is hard work and a lot of time away from home.
I work in the oil field and they definitely don’t do that anymore. There’s a machine called an iron roughneck or an ST 80 that breaks the pipe apart when they’re tripping out.
