I know everyone loves the Spitfire but the Lancaster in flight is amazing! The sound on this video is impressive but when you actually FEEL it flying past… it’s awe inspiring! ❤
Agreed, amazing. I just filmed it on my Google Pixel 4 phone. Got amazingly lucky with it flying right over me. You could feel the vibration of those amazing engines
Had one fly over my head a minute ago. No matter how impressed you think it sounds listening to this video its an entire different beast when you can feel the thud in your chest.
My mom's older brother was a gunner on a Lancaster for the duration of WW2 with the RCAF. I was one of the few in the family that he ever talked about some of the things he saw and did over there when he visited Alaska from Canada. I was about 5 years old. Lancasters are amazing to see hear and feel in flight like that. :)
Wow one of the most dangerous positions to be in a Lancaster. The lads that flew them were amazing brave people. I still love hearing 4 rolls Royce merlin engines fly over.
So your moms older brother was a terrorist? Bombing women and children to pieces in city cores during nighttime. Yeah, because that's exactly what British bomber doctrine was, bombing civilians to kill as many civilians as possible, mostly women and children. Americans targeted mainly industry targets, while the Brits thirsted for childrens blood on the streets.
Oh my I am so so jealous right now.. I spent the last 2 weekends sat watching it on my tracker and it got within 10 miles of my house then went left towards Leicester.. I'm kind of gutted
I'm sorry you missed it. I knew it was flying over Moira Canal festival next to my house so luckily found an open position and it flew low right over me. Got lucky really
@@Banditmanuk I think it will be at the cosford air show this year... Along with many others.. I don't live far from the air base so I'm hoping to get there..

@@10astudios66 quite right Army’s fighting army’s fair enough it was a war but a lot of their city’s were bombed to shit and it wasn’t just soliders down there
That my friends is the mighty City of Lincoln AVRO Lancaster. One of only 2 in the world still flying and it’s from my village in the heart of beautiful Lincolnshire otherwise known as “Bomber County”
You ever look at that and think how did something that huge get built and developed in the era it did, and was one of the best heavy bombers ever made? Like seriously, to me it looks like it'd fall apart mid flight
Yep, it was only 38 years after the Wright Bros first ever powered flight that the Lancaster first took to the air. Think this is the only air worthy one left fly in England. Quite a privilege to see it fly overhead.
Prior to the Dambuster raid they used to practice over Lincolnshire. Early in the war my late grandfather was still ploughing with horses, he wasn’t happy when a low flying Lanc popped low over his fields spooking the horses. He remembered how they gathered around the cathedral prior to the raid, he said they knew it was a big mission even though the preparation had been kept top secret. Those V24 merlin engines would be great in a bike🤣👍
I'm sure horses are not keen on the sound but I love evocative noise of those Merlin engines. It was an absolute privilege and treat to be directly under the flght path.
It’s a very nice aircraft to be sure I had the extreme luck of being a kid and having one do a low pass over our house (don’t know why it was flying low in Hertfordshire but oh well) also I wouldn’t of liked to of been in any German city with a dozen or so of them flying overhead 😅
It is an amazing aircraft. We were lucky that this Lancaster flew low over us on two consecutive events as we live next to an attraction where it was doing a flypast. Think it's the only currently airworthy Lancaster flying in Britain currently. Yes indeed, probably a less welcome sight over a German city in WW2, some brave lads flew them 👍
They were flying this just 40 years after kitty hawk, imagine being 10 and reading about the first flight and then being 50 and seeing a 30 ton 200mph monster flying over

A correction Ian Ted. The Rolls-Royce Merlin engine is a V12 engine.
